Customer Process Assistance Solving a processing problem, developing a new process, improve a current process, whatever the need, we offer our assistance and extensive facilities across a wide range of manufacture processes and fabrication technologies eg. forming, welding, joining, plant layout etc. Customer Technical Assistance The provision of technical assistance in the selection of the right BlueScope Steel product and its suitability for your intended manufacture and end use. Technical Product Management Technical management of BlueScope Steel’s Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled, Metallic Coated and Organic Finished products involves working with you to ensure we fully understand your needs for your applications and translating these needs into the correct BlueScope Steel product. Ongoing product development and monitoring of field performance and durability of BlueScope Steel products are important components of technical product management. Customer Technical Assistance BlueScope Steel have highly trained technical people located at all of our State Sales Offices supported by Works based experts dedicated to assisting you in all technical aspects of BlueScope Steel products and subsequent processing of these products. Product Applications Laboratory The Product Applications Laboratory (PAL), at Port Kembla, is a dedicated R & D facility for BlueScope Steel customers, providing assistance and advice on steel product design, prototype production, fabrication and joining techniques. Staffed by qualified and experienced engineers, metallurgists and sheet metal fabricators, PAL can help turn your good idea into a viable product ready for full scale manufacture. At the same time, it can help you save money in the long run by determining the most cost-effective methods and materials up-front. More specifically, PAL can help with: Practical Design Advice Our staff can work with you to resolve ergonomic, durability, aesthetic, strength and transport issues, to name a few. Prototype Development PAL has its own metal forming equipment, including a CNC brakepress, pan brakes, Magnabend folder, curving rolls, punch press and Pullmax machinery. In-house Testing Our test facilities can be used to determine the most suitable steel type for your product in terms of structural performance and corrosion resistance, and the most effective fabrication and joining techniques – adhesion, welding or mechanical fastening.
