General description
Presentation
Ormazabal’s CGM.3 system consists of a wide range of SF6 fully
insulated compact, modular cubicles enabling the configuration of any
electrical diagram in Medium Voltage Secondary Distribution networks
up to 38 kV.
CGM.3 is a highly safe, reliable and user-friendly assembly, capable
of withstanding all environmental conditions.
The performance of routine tests across the various phases of the
assembly procedure and the use of the most innovative manufacturing
techniques assure the highest level of quality in CGM.3 system, as
reflected in its ISO 9001 certification.

Principal characteristics
Protection and safety for people, goods and equipment against
internal arc effects, proven through tests performed in accordance
with standard.
Capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions
(including flooding), long service life and absence of maintenance
in live parts through full gas insulation and the use of screened
connectors.
Full modularity and future extensibility in both directions
through Ormazabal’s patented ORMALINK connecting set. Flexibility
to configure all types of diagram.
Smaller size and lower weight, making handling and installation
easier.
Safe and simple operation through the use of user-friendly driving
mechanisms, including interlocks as standard.
Extra safety: incorporation of ekorVPIS, a light voltage presence
indicator; and, optionally, ekorSAS, an acoustic alarm preventing
earthing.
Accessories and live testing as an option.
Horizontal fuse holders with front access, protected within a gas tank.
Easy cable connection through front plug-in or screwable
terminals.
Environmentally-friendly:

Safety
CGM.3 cubicles are designed to protect people and goods against
the effects of internal arcs, complying with the criteria of standard:
• Gas tank internal arc: 20* kA 0,5 s
• Gas tank internal arc: 20* kA 1 s
• IAC AFL Class / IEEE Std C37.20.7: 20* kA 1 s
These cubicles have standard internal safety locks to enable a safe
and reliable service.
The cubicles in the CGM.3 system independently admit the locking of
operations by padlocking the switch and the grounding switch.
Capacity to withstand harsh environmental conditions. The
breaking and making components are located inside a stainless steel,
leak-proof and hermetically sealed tank.
Gas tank
The position of the switch is reliably displayed on the synoptic
scheme, and validated by the kinematic chain test in accordance with
the applicable standard.
The full insulation with SF6 gas enables the unit to withstand harsh
environmental conditions (damp, salinity, dust, contamination, etc.)
and provides protection against indirect contact.
The grounding prevention acoustic alarm unit ekorSAS is an
acoustic signal that works in association with the grounding switch
shaft and with the ekorVPIS voltage presence indicator.
ekorVPIS is a self-powered indicator integrated in the cubicles
which displays the presence of voltage in the phases through three
permanent light signals, designed in accordance with the Standard.
The phase comparator, ekorSPC can be supplied on request from
Ormazabal.

QUALITY OF ELECTRICAL SUPPLY
The cubicles in the CGM.3 system contribute to improving electrical
distribution in Medium Voltage networks up to 38 kV through:
•Routine and traceability factory-testing in all equipments.
•Interlocks between the switching and breaking components.
•Visual display of the position of the switchgear in the synoptic
diagram, validated by the kinematic chain test.
•High anticorrosive levels, obtained using new materials.
•Maintenance-free live parts.
• Possibility of assembling accessories and performing tests under
voltage.
•Easy cable connection, with plug-in or screwed connectors.
• Optional integration of protection, control and/or
telemanagement units.
