The European series of conferences is organized by heat treatment associations in Austria, Belgium,
Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland and is dedicated to knowledge
transfer between research and practice and the exchange of experience among engineers and scientists.
ATZK, which unites heat treatment experts from Czech and Slovak Republics - countries with a long
tradition in the automotive industry - offers this extensive conference program of current trends in
automotive applications.
Organization
The conference is organized by ATZK – Association for the Heat Treatment of Metals in close cooperation
with A3TS, AIM, ASMET, SVW/ATTT, VWT and IFHTSE.

Steel grades for the automotive industry, heat treated materials, mechanical properties,
phase transformations, microstructure and properties relationship
Thermochemical heat treatment in series production
(nitriding, carburizing – gas with oil quenching, vacuum with gas quenching)
Surface hardening technology (induction hardening, laser, electron beam),
coating technology (thermal spraying, coating, PVD, CVD, plasma,..)
Vacuum heat treatment of metals and alloys
Quenching technology, quenching distortion and stresses
Design and construction of industrial heat treatment equipment for series production
Improved modelling capabilities and simulation of heat treatment and surface engineering

The official conference language will be English.
Aichelin Young Speakers Award
The award, sponsored by the Aichelin of Mödling, will be given at this conference for the best talk of
a speaker under age of 35. The award is endowed with the sum of 1500 €.

The conference fee includes the attendance of all sessions, lunches and refreshments during the
conference, a conference “walking” dinner, a conference gala evening, conference proceedings,
and a 3-day ticket for Prague transport.
The proceedings of the conference will be provided as hard copy “Proceedings of Abstracts” with an
electronic version of the proceedings inside.
Excursion in Škoda Auto a.s., Vrchlabí
The excursion in the modern heat treatment plant of gear parts in the company Škoda Auto a.s., Vrchlabí
will be held on Friday 13 May 2016 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Departure / Arrival - Břevnov Monastery. The
registration is necessary.
Program for Accompanying Persons - Explore Prague in two half-day tours
The Vltava River as a silver ribbon divides Prague into two parts, which makes it easy to explore Prague in
this way as well. By dividing the sightseeing of Prague into two parts, you will be able to see more details
- and be sure you will be shown many of them! Each sightseeing tour takes 4 hours and includes lunch.
Poster Awards
Awards, sponsored by the Burgdorf GmbH & Co.KG, will be made for the three best posters (the first EUR
800, the second EUR 500, the third EUR 300), as judged by an independent panel of experts. Posters will
be displayed for the entire period of the conference.
