Back to Nature – Come enjoy the great outdoors and learn about the plants, animals and insects
that live on campus and in our area. Children will use all of their senses to explore the incredible sights,
sounds, smells, tastes and textures that nature has to offer. Activities will include crafts, cooking,
research, an on-campus camping trip to the “deep, dark, woods” and a field trip to a nature center.
Horses and Pigs and Rabbits, Oh My! – If you love animals, this session is for you!
Learn about
our four-legged friends, big and small, through classroom activities and a trip to a horse farm. Here you
will learn how to care for horses and you may get a chance to pet a pig! Whether you already own a pet
or are thinking of adopting, this class will help you understand the joys and responsibilities of caring for
animals and for the earth we all share.
Diggin’ Dinosaurs – Calling all junior paleontologists: join us for a fun week of games, projects and a
planned field trip to Dinosaur Land in White Post, VA. Kids will use books and computers to learn about
the giant creatures that once walked the earth and will search for bones, make their own fossils and
other crafts.
Your Amazing Body – What happens to the food I eat?
Why is my blood red? Why does my heart
beat faster sometimes? How many bones do I have? Children will be introduced to the wonders of the
human body through creative activities and research that helps them understand how our body works.
This exciting week will include a visit to the HCC anatomy and physiology lab. What would you like to
learn about the human body? Join us to find out more!
Around the World Adventure – Take a 5 day vacation with us around the world! We will be
exploring each continent on this once in a life-time adventure. Be prepared to see new places, try new
foods, and make new friends along the way. We may even take a real trip (in Hagerstown) to learn
more. The only question left is: Are you ready to go on an adventure?
Hands-on Science – Young scientists will use simple tools and their senses to observe and explore
their environment, gather information, ask questions and make predictions. Children will engage in
simple experiments and investigations, both indoors and out. The week includes a planned field trip to
the WHAG studio to learn about weather forecasting.

of 3 credits for summer) – weekly tuition $107 plus material/field trip fee
and for HCC employees – weekly tuition $141 plus material/field trip fee.

The Children’s Learning Center opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM.
Breakfast is served at 8:30, lunch at 11:45 and snack at 3:00.
The Children’s Learning Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
We are required to serve all children the same meals and children do not have the
option of bringing a lunch. The only exception is if a child has a food allergy,
documented by a health care provider, with a list of acceptable substitutions. In this
case, we will provide an alternative, such as soy milk for cow’s milk. Child care
regulations require us to serve 1% or skim milk to all children with meals. Water is also
available at meal times and throughout the day.
The Children’s Learning Center program is licensed by the Maryland State Department
of Education, Office of Child Care. The enrollment packet will be mailed to parents. All
medical and other forms required by the Office of Child Care (enrollment packet) must
be received before any child may attend our program. This is different from the
paperwork required by the HCC College for Kids program.
