Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC and Chairman, Meja Urja
Nigam (P) Ltd. (MUNPL) visited the Meja Thermal Power
Project on 2nd December, 2014 and reviewed its progress.
During his visit, he laid the foundation stone of Meja Urja
Higher Secondary School which is proposed to have 30
rooms with modern educational amenities. He also
inaugurated Conveyer System in the Project and took a
review of the project activities and interacted with
employees. On this occasion, employees completing 35 and
15 years of service were felicitated with Long Service Award.
During the visit, Shri U.P. Pani, Director (HR), NTPC, Shri S. C.
Pandey, Director (Projects), Shri Saptarishi Roy, RED (North),
Shri J.N. Singh, CEO, Meja were present along with Senior
Officials of Meja Urja Nigam.
Shri R.N. Choubey, Spl. Secretary (Power),
Govt. of India, inaugurated the Bio Diesel
Plant of Vindhyachal during his two day
visit from 18th-19th December, 2014 and
reviewed the progress of Vindhyachal
Plant at a meeting with Shri S.K. Roy,
Executive Director, Vindhyachal and other
senior executives of the project. Shri
Choubey also visited the construction area
of Stage V and the Stage IV Control room.
During his visit to Rihand, Shri R.N.
Choubey reviewed the overall progress of
Rihand in a meeting with Shri P. Ramesh,
Executive Director, Rihand and other
senior officials of Rihand.
Shri R.N. Choubey also visited Singrauli
and reviewed the activities of the plant.
Shri Anuttam Choudhury, Executive
Director, Singrauli accompanied the guest

AS POWER PERSONA OF THE YEAR
Shri A.K. Jha, Director (Technical), NTPC has been awarded as
“Power Persona of the Year - Power Generation” at the 8th
Enertia Awards-2014 held in New Delhi. Recently Shri Jha has
been awarded for his contribution in enhancing NTPC’s
technical expertise in Thermal Power and expanding its width
to Solar Domain where NTPC has emerged as a PSE Leader.
The citation given on the occasion appreciates Shri Jha's 35
years of rich and varied experience in Power Sector in the
areas of Erection and Commissioning, Project Planning &

NTPC, India’s premier power utility has been awarded as
'World Class Maharatna PSE of the Year' at India Public
Sector Enterprises (IPSE) Awards for Excellence -2014 held
in New Delhi on 19th December, 2014.
Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC was also awarded as
PSU Doyen of the Decade on the occasion for his
contribution to India’s PSE sector first at NBCC and now in
NTPC. His services for making NTPC the most admired PSE
brand and Topmost Global Energy & Power Utility - a pride
of India Brand were also lauded.
NTPC team won the first-ever business quiz organised by
Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) for
public sector companies.
The company won the national round of SCOPE
Management and Business Quiz Bonanza (SMBQB) in
which more than 150 teams of different PSUs participated
on 9th December, 2014. Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD,
NTPC congratulated Shri K.M. Prashanth, AGM (CC) and

NTPC BAGS 5 AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATION
NTPC bagged five prestigious awards at the All India PRSI (Public Relations
Society of India) Awards-2014 held in Jaipur. NTPC Corporate Center
received First prize for its House Journal "Vidyut Swar" and for Best CSR
Project - Sustainable Development for Sustainable Development Report,
Second prize for Social Media - PR & Branding and third prize for eNewsletter (e-varta). NCR HQ won Second prize in the films category.
Awards were presented by Shri Kailash Meghwal, Hon'ble Speaker,
Rajasthan Assembly at the 36th All India Public Relations Conference held
in Jaipur on 19th December, 2014. Shri Ajit Pathak, President of the PRSI,

1000 MWp SOLAR PV SITE
Shri A.K. Jha, Director (Technical) visited site for the proposed
1000 MWp Ultra Mega Solar PV Project in NP Kunta Mandal of
Kadiri Taluk in Distt. Ananatpuramu of Andhra Pradesh on 17th
December, 2014.
During the visit, officials from State Government, GM REDG (CC)
& GM (REP), Belgaum were also present. Shri Jha appreciated
the support extended by State Government for his visit.
Shri M.R.P. Rao, IFS, CVO, visited 5 MWp SPV Plant at Port
Blair. He took keen interest in working of the plant and
observed that “Excellent team work is an example and
inspiration for other solar units planned.”
Shri R. Venkateswaran, RED (South) also reviewed the activities
at the solar project with senior officials. Shri S.S. Mani, General
Manager, Renewable Energy Projects accompanied him on the
occasion.

BLOOD BANK
AT VINDHYA HOSPITAL
Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC inaugurated the Red
Cross Blood Bank at Vindhya Hospital, in Vindhyachal Project.
This is the only blood bank available in the Singrauli region
and shall cater to the patients around the project vicinity. He
also visited Stage-IV and Stage-V of the project and also inaugurated the TG Hall Elevator and Erection of MV Switchgear
respectively with Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations), Shri Saptarshi Roy, RED (NR) and Shri S.K. Roy, ED (Vindhyachal).
Dr. Roy Choudhury and Smt. Sharmila Roy Choudhury also inaugurated the newly constructed D-II type quarters at
Vindhyachal Township. Smt. Sharmila Roy Choudhury, President, Sanyukta Mahila Samiti also inaugurated the Shishir Mela
at Vindhyachal organised by the Ladies Club Suhasini Sangh.
