The IC-GPS-P interface card requires LileeOS 2.8 or later. The IC-LTE-GPS and IC-LTE-G interface cards require LileeOS 2.9 or later. Battery Installation The DTS-2000 ships with a BR2032 lithium ion battery. You must install this battery in the chassis before installing the chassis. The battery allows the unit to maintain the real-time clock through power disruptions. 2 | Minimum Software Required DTS-2000 Hardware Installation Guide If you do not install the battery, or the battery dies, any power disruption causes the real-time clock to be reset to the factory default date. Use the included battery. Do not use a different battery. Using the wrong type of battery can cause an explosion. Contact Lilee Systems technical support for a battery replacement. To install the battery: 1. Open the battery compartment door on the bottom of the chassis using a small Phillips screwdriver, as shown in Figure 2. Remove the existing battery (if you are replacing a dead battery) by inserting a small flat-head screwdriver (or something similar) under the battery on the side opposite the retaining lip, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 4 Inserting the battery LIL_088 BR2032 4. Press the battery firmly in place. 5. The battery is now installed. Mounting Instructions You can mount the DTS-2000 on a wall, in a standard 19" rack, or on a top hat DIN rail (with the optional DIN railmount bracket). Do not install the DTS-2000 in a site where the ambient temperature exceeds the DTS-2000 rated temperature of -40 to 158 °F (-40 to 70 °C). Wall-Mount Instructions To mount the DTS-2000 on any wall with the included wall-mount brackets: 4 | Mounting Instructions DTS-2000 Hardware Installation Guide 1. Use one of the brackets as a template to mark the wall for the screw locations, as shown in Figure 5. LIL_063 Figure 5 Marking the wall for the first two screws 2. Partially install two screws (not included) at the spots you marked. Leave enough room to slide the bracket between the heads of the screws and the wall (¼" is enough). If you are installing into drywall, we recommend using wall anchors. Follow electrostatic precautions whenever installing the DTS-2000. To prevent malfunction or damage from electrostatic discharge, ground the DTS-2000. Before touching components, or connecting or disconnecting cables, touch a metal object to dissipate your body charge. 3. Attach the wall-mount brackets to the DTS-2000 using the included pan head Phillips screws, as shown in Figure 6. We included two spare screws. Ensure that the power cord is disconnected whenever you service, install, or move the DTS-2000. Slide the keyholes in the bracket over the screws you attached to the wall in step 2, as shown in Figure 7. LIL_065b Figure 7 Attaching the DTS-2000 to the wall 5. Remove the unit from the wall. 7. Partially install two more screws at the new locations you marked. Leave enough room to slide the bracket between the screws and the wall. If you are installing into drywall, we recommend using wall anchors. 8. Mount the unit to the wall again by sliding the keyholes in the brackets over all four of the screws. 9. Completely tighten the screws. You can now safely power up the unit, as described in “Connecting Power” on page 10. To uninstall the DTS-2000, reverse these instructions. Rack-Mount Instructions To mount the DTS-2000 in any standard 19" rack using the included rack-mount brackets: Follow electrostatic precautions whenever installing the DTS-2000. To prevent malfunction or damage from electrostatic discharge, ground the DTS-2000. Before touching components, or connecting or disconnecting cables, touch a metal object to dissipate body charge. 1. Attach the rack-mount brackets to the DTS-2000 using the included flat head Phillips screws, as shown in Figure 9. We included two spares. Ensure that the power cord is disconnected whenever you service, install, or move the DTS-2000. Mount the DTS-2000 in a standard 19" rack using the M6 pan head screws, as shown in Figure 10. LIL_067 Figure 10 Mounting in the rack 3. Leave at least 4" (10 cm) on either side of the unit so that air can circulate over the cooling vanes. The fanless DTS-2000 uses the aluminum cooling vanes on the top of the unit to dissipate heat. 4. Also leave at least 4" (10 cm) in front of and behind the unit so you can access the various connectors and ports. 8 | Mounting Instructions DTS-2000 Hardware Installation Guide You can now safely power up the unit, as described in “Connecting Power” on page 10. To uninstall the DTS-2000, reverse these instructions. DIN Rail-Mount Instructions (Optional) To mount the DTS-2000 on any standard top hat DIN rail using the optional DIN rail-mount bracket: Follow electrostatic precautions whenever installing the DTS-2000. To prevent malfunction or damage from electrostatic discharge, ground the DTS-2000. Before touching components, or connecting or disconnecting cables, touch a metal object to dissipate body charge. 1. Attach the rack-mount brackets to the DTS-2000 using the included flat head Phillips screws, as shown in Figure 11. We included two spares. Slide the mounting bracket’s bottom hooks behind the bottom of the DIN rail, as shown in Figure 12. You will hear and feel it snap into place. You can now safely power up the unit, as described in “Connecting Power” on page 10. To uninstall the DTS-2000, reverse these instructions. Connecting Power The DTS-2000 does not have a power switch. To power the unit off, disconnect the power cord. Do not apply voltage levels that exceed the specified voltage range of 10–30 VDC. Doing so can cause fire and/or an electrical shock. To power the unit on: 1. Ground the DTS-2000 to earth by attaching a ground wire to the ground receptacle on the back of the unit using the included nut and lock-washer, as shown in Figure 13. 10 | Mounting Instructions DTS-2000 Hardware Installation Guide LIL_068 Figure 13 Grounding the unit 2. Remove the terminal block from the back of the unit. 3. Connect DC power supply return cables to either pin 1 or 3 of the 3-pin terminal block. Use 18 AWG power cables. 4. Connect the positive DC power cable to pin 2 of the terminal block. 5. Connect the terminal block to the power connector on the back of the unit, as shown in Figure 14. LIL_069 Figure 14 Connecting the terminal block to the unit 6. Connect the power cables to the power source. The unit goes through a boot-up sequence. After successful boot-up, the PWR, HEALTH, VOLT, and TEMP LEDs are all solid green. If the LEDs are not solid green, see “LED Indicators” on page 12. The unit is now ready to be configured. Front Connectors and Indicators Figure 15 illustrates the connectors and indicators on the front of the DTS-2000. The DTS-2000 ships with interface cards already installed, and you can install new or replacement cards. To replace or add an interface card: 1. Power down the DTS-2000. 2. Unscrew the two captive screws on the existing card or blank plate. 3. Remove the card or blank plate. 4. Slide the new card into the empty slot. The sides of the green PCB rest inside the guiderails in the slot, as shown in Figure 16. Push the card in gently until it seats. When seated correctly, the card faceplate is flush with the chassis faceplate. You must keep the card straight and level while inserting it, as it fits very tightly in the slot and any angles cause the PCB to catch on the sides of the slot. If the card is difficult to insert, simply straighten the card and try again. 6. Tighten the two captive screws on the card. 7. Power on the DTS-2000. 8. The PWR LED on the card turns green. The module is installed and ready to be connected. 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Interface Card (IC-WIFI-11N) The 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi interface card has two male RP TNC connectors for connecting Wi-Fi antennas. The Precision GPS interface card has two female TNC connectors, one for connecting GPS and one for a 1PPS signal. To replace a mini-SIM card: 1. Remove the mini-SIM card retaining bracket using a magnetized size 0 Phillips screwdriver, as shown in Figure 17. If there is a mini-SIM card installed, remove it by pushing the card further into the slot. When you hear a click, a spring pushes the mini-SIM card out, as shown in Figure 18. LIL_083 Figure 18 Removing an installed mini-SIM card 3. Insert the new mini-SIM card, as shown in Figure 19, with the notch facing the front of the card and the metallic contact facing the PCB. You will feel resistance as the card pushes against a spring. If you are installing another mini-SIM card, repeat step 3. 5. Reinstall the mini-SIM card retaining bracket. Always reinstall the mini-SIM card retaining bracket. If you forget, heavy vibration or shock could cause one of the mini-SIM cards to vibrate loose. The mini-SIM card is now installed. LTE GPS Interface Card (IC-LTE-GPS) The LTE GPS interface card requires LileeOS 2.9 (or later). The LTE GPS interface card has three female SMA connectors for connecting two cellular antennas and a GPS antenna. Global LTE 4G Cellular Interface Card (IC-LTE-G) The Global LTE 4G interface card requires LileeOS 2.9 (or later). The Global LTE 4G cellular interface card has two female TNC connectors for connecting cellular antennas. Use the connector on the right for the main antenna. Always connect both antennas when using this module; we do not recommend using a single antenna. Table 7 lists the console settings. Gigabit Ethernet Ports The DTS-2000 has three RJ45 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting to a local network. Each port has a set of LEDs. Table 8 lists the Ethernet port LED behaviors and meanings. See “Connecting Power” on page 10 for details. Power Connector The back of the DTS-2000 has a 3-pin power connector. See “Connecting Power” on page 10 for details on powering the unit. WAKE Connectors The back of the DTS-2000 has two terminal block connectors for WAKE signals. The four pins are: Power throttle at top right Sleep toggle at top left Ground at bottom right Sleep on/off at bottom left Digital I/O Connectors The back of the DTS-2000 has two terminal block connectors for digital input and output signals. Analog I/O Connectors The back of the DTS-2000 has two terminal block connectors for analog input and output signals. COM Port The back of the DTS-2000 has a COM port with a male DB-9 connector for direct local management. CFast Card Slot The DTS-2000 has a CFast card slot behind the dust control door. To replace a CFast card: 1. Power down the DTS-2000. 2. Unfasten the screws on the dust control door using a Phillips head screwdriver or your fingers, as shown in Figure 21. Remove the dust control door. You can now see the CFast card, USB port, and reset button. 4. Remove the existing CFast card by pulling it toward you. 5. Insert the replacement CFast card as shown in Figure 22. LIL_072 Figure 22 Inserting a CFast card 6. Replace the dust control door. 7. Tighten the screws on the dust control door. USB Flash Drive Port The DTS-2000 has a USB 2.0 flash drive port, behind the dust control door, containing a USB flash drive (installed in manufacturing). Unfasten the screws on the dust control door using a Phillips head screwdriver or your fingers, as shown in Figure 21. Retaining springs keep the screws in the door. 2. Remove the dust control door. You can now see the CF card, USB port, and reset button. 3. Remove the existing USB drive by pulling it toward you. 4. Insert the replacement USB drive with the logo facing up, as shown in Figure 23: LIL_073 Figure 23 Inserting a replacement USB drive 5. Replace the dust control door. 6. Tighten the screws on the dust control door. The USB drive is now installed. Reset Button If the DTS-2000 console becomes unresponsive, press and hold the reset button. The behavior is described in Table 9. Table 10 describes the LileeOS 2.9 (and later) reset button behavior, based on how long you hold the button before releasing. Do not open the chassis. Opening the chassis voids the warranty and can cause electric shocks. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the chassis. If considerable amounts of dust, water, or fluids enter the DTS-2000, immediately disconnect power and contact your distributor or sales representative. Specifications This section lists the DTS-2000 specifications. Mechanical Weight: 7.3 lbs (3.3 kg) Dimensions (H x W x L): 1.7 x 6.6 x 9.8 in (44 x 167 x 250 mm) Environmental Functional operating temperature: -40 to 158 °F (-40 to 70 °C) Safe operating temperature: -40 to 122 °F (-40 to 50 °C) Storage temperature: -67 to 185 °F (-55 to 85 °C) Ambient relative humidity: 5 to 95% non-condensing If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment might be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum operating temperature. Electrical Connector: 3-pin terminal block Input voltage: 10–30 VDC Consumption: 1.7 A @ 12 VDC (normal operation) .6 A @ 12 VDC (idle) DTS-2000 Hardware Installation Guide Maintenance | 23 .3 A @ 12 VDC (sleep) Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit Safety and Regulatory Compliance This equipment has been tested to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, according to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, can cause harmful interference to radio communications. The DTS-2000 is intended to be mounted on a wall or in a rack. Read the mounting instructions carefully before installing. Follow the instructions closely and use the correct hardware to avoid damaging the equipment or creating a hazard for people due to uneven mechanical loading. Give consideration to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Consult the equipment nameplate ratings when addressing this concern. The DTS-2000 meets the following safety, regulatory, and industry requirements: PTCRB CE GCF-CC FCC AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Telstra, and Vodafone Approved Red Hat Hardware Certification RoHS compliant UL Risk of Explosion if Battery is replaced by an Incorrect Type.
