e reliable operation of high-pressure shower pipe oscillators plays an
important role in the conditioning of paper and board machine fabrics. Optimal
proles and the avoidance of breaks depend on uniform cleaning across the
entire width of the fabric.

Valmet now oers an S-601 upgrade for Arcos S-600
high-pressure pipe oscillators.
e oscillation signal counter, wire connectors, and
piston rod seals and shielding are modi ed and the
oscillator's mounting is upgraded to a gyro-type universal joint. e oscillator is also serviced in connection with the upgrade. e earlier model can be replaced with the upgraded oscillator without modifying
the existing electrical and hydraulic connections. Due
to the universal joint modi cation, support arrangements will be checked on a case by case basis.
Benets of upgrade
e signal counter of the motion tracker will be converted to a belt-driven model. Belt-driven signal counters are not as sensitive to dirt. Signal counting errors
lead to oscillator malfunctions.
e sealing of the front end will be modi ed.
Improved seals reduce the chance of oil leaks and
extend the lifetime of the oscillator.
anks to the universal joint the oscillator's piston
rod always moves in parallel with the shower pipe
structure. is eliminates alignment problems and
excess strain on the oscillator's seals.
Electrical wiring connections will be replaced with
quick release connectors. A mechanical installation
team can then replace the entire oscillator without the
help of an electrician. e piston rod will be protected
by a guard bellow during power outages when the piston cannot be driven back to its home position.
Stock may build up on an unprotected piston rod
and break the seals as it dries.
