Course Description: This course will focus on mechanical and electrical systems found in typical
commercial buildings. This training will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to reduce energy usage and
operating costs, and improve the reliability of the systems in buildings. Training will focus on technical basics and
cover a typical ASHRAE Level 1 audit. The presentation will showcase case studies of successful energy efficiency
projects and implementation strategies. Participants will receive a copy of the class material including sample audit
forms and checklists that will enable attendees to conduct preliminary diagnostic audits of their facilities to determine
if they are good candidates for making investments in energy efficiency projects. With the knowledge and tools
gained, past attendees and their customers have implemented low/no cost strategies resulting in annual energy
savings greater than $50,000.
Instructor: Sanjiv “Sunny” Devnani is a Director at kW Engineering.
Sanjiv has been working in the energy
efficiency field since first joining kW in 2005, and his experience includes on-site audits, retro-commissioning, field
data collection, measurement & verification, simulation modeling, and design assistance. His primary areas of
expertise include estimation of energy usage and savings associated with high efficiency retrofits at grocery stores,
large warehouse style stores, convenience stores, quick service restaurants, commercial office buildings, schools,
hospitals, light industrial facilities and farms. He is an adjunct faculty member at SLCC and teaches the course on
commercial energy audits.
