Dear Parents, Frequently your child must study information carefully. For example, your child might need to memorize or carefully study information in a textbook, definitions or words, spelling words, math facts, notes from class, class handouts, or other material in preparation for a class activity or test. In Strategic Studies, your child is taught a simple study strategy called RCRC. The steps in this strategy are listed below. Read Cover Recite Check RCRC When you need to memorize something or study something carefully, use RCRC. R = READ Read a little bit of material. Read it more than once. C = COVER Cover the material with your hand or paper. R = RECITE Tell yourself what you have read. Write Write down what you have read. C = CHECK Lift your hand and check to see if you are correct. If you forget something important, begin again. Remind your child to use RCRC when studying information. You may wish to keep this letter in your child’s study area. Sincerely, Laura Moninski
