The artist who designed it got the idea when the artist saw a seagull lifting off from in front of Yokohama Bay Bridge. The cables of Yokohama Bay Bridge looked like a harp, leading to the concept of “a seagull being gently nurtured while playing the melody of Yokohama.” The piece was donated to Yokohama City by the Junior Chamber International Yokohama, in gratitude to the citizens of the city. ᵐ ⇒⇊⇯∄⇩⇽ ‸‟‥ ⇷⇝⇻⇉⇙್ා‚್ාᨥԧ˟ᜭ‣≋‛ئ ᘑғ≌ PACIFICO Yokohama (Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama) (Blocks 18) Guide Map F-3 ࡈ䇻್ …ා ˺ԼӸ Title ≝ ˺ܼӸ Artist name ≝ ޛᢷپ Ikuo Hirayama ᚨፗئ Location ≝ ᇌ∑∞∁ٻ ⇎∙⇮∏∙⇟∓⇹∞ National Convention Hall Lobby Entrance ឋ Materials ≝ ⇟⇬∙⇯⇖∏⇟ Stained Glass Constellations '94 Yokohama ⇛⇊⇠‚›⁉‶‛ ≝ ›‣…⁷⁉‣‥⊡‣ Size С˺࠰ Year created ‣‚•‥ଯԧ ‧‛࠰࠼Ⴤဃ↭↻⅛ ᇌ∑∞∁ٻⅻ⇐∞⇽∙ↆ ‣ ࠰‛ ‚… One of the largest pieces of stained glass in the world, created based on an image drawn by the artist who was inspired by the stars in the night sky on June 2, 1994, the date of the anniversary of the opening of the port and the day the National Convention Hall opened. See if you can spot a mythical rendition of the Milky Way, and constellations such as Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Ophiuchus. The stained glass panels are combined together in such a way as to make you feel the infinite nature of the universe. The concept of the piece is “the form of life,” and taking a very simple mathematical pattern (Voronoi diagram) that appears repeatedly throughout the natural world and all forms of life in a variety of forms and scales, recomposes it in a very basic shape in order to depict the power of nature and life that is rooted in our everyday existence. Taking the entire facility to be a natural environment, such as a verdant green forest, uses it as a symbol of the natural environment and biology, making an even clearer image of “the form of life” and creating a concrete symbol of the advanced nature of the facilities and the region. * Noiz Architects: An organization that works in construction, interior design and research, with bases in Tokyo and Taipei. The artist was born in 1936 in Yokosuka City. At night, the lights on the piece not only light up the art itself, but also provide illumination for the vicinity, creating a dynamic space. ᵑᵖ ⇒⇊⇯∄⇩⇽ ‷‟‧ ್ා፦ᘐ≋‥ ᘑғ≌ Yokohama Museum of Art (Block 36) Guide Map E-5 ↝᪦ᇷ ˺ԼӸ Title ≝ ˺ܼӸ Artist name ≝ ૼܷ ା Susumu Shingu ᚨፗئ Location ≝ ٳދ Outside ឋ Materials ≝ ⇟⇬∙−⇟∝⇟⇧∞∑ ⇈∑∅⇱⇌∆ Stainless Steel, Aluminum Wind Musical Notes ⇛⇊⇠‚›⁉‶‛ ≝ ․ ˳‡Ӳ ›‧…•⁕ ․ ˳‡Ӳ › ‧⁕ Size С˺࠰ Year created ‣‚ ‥ଯԧ ‣․‛࠰ࡅ᧵ٻဃ↭↻⅛ ˺ܼ↞⅚‣‚• ଯԧ …‧‛࠰↝᧵ٻɢҦ↝᪭ⅺ↸⅚ ᐯ↝⇎⇳∑⇔∞↝ਤ↓ཎࣉ⇁↝↭↭˺Լ↝ ѣⅼ↚ⅺⅵ↗ᚾ↮↕⅚↳൦↖ѣⅾ˺Լ⇁ ˺↹ዓↀ↕ⅳ↭ↈ⅛ↂ↝˺Լ↱⅚↚↷↹ႉⅳ ፶ⅻ⅚ↆ᠃ׅಮ⅝↙ᘙऴ↝҄٭ⅻಏↆ↰↭ↈ⅛ 䣅䣱䣲䣻䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䢢䤊䢢 ୍⯡♫ᅋἲேᶓ僥僐僎僥僯傪凤凣䢰䢢䣃䣮䣮䢢䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䣵䢢䣴䣧䣵䣧䣴䣸䣧䣦䢰䢢 இ᠃ׅٻႺࢲ ‧••⁕ இ᠃ׅٻႺࢲ ‧••⁕ ≝ ‣‚Ψ‛࠰ The artist was born in 1937 in Osaka Prefecture. While a sail is designed to collect the wind, once billowing out it is essentially also becoming the shape of the wind, and this piece is placed here with the wish that it imparts the refreshing, dynamic impression of that moment. ↮↸ⅳ↧↝ᑋෙ ˺ԼӸ Title ≝ ᚨፗئ Location ≝ ≔‸ ދϋ≋⇒−∐⇈≌ 1F Inside (Galleria) ឋ Materials ≝ ᤧ⅚ᑶ߈ޥ Iron, Granite ⇛⇊⇠‚›⁉‶‛ ≝ ․••• Size ᚨፗ࠰ Year installed ⇹∑ૼሰʙɶ↚ႆↄ↻ᥰ⇁⇒−∐⇈↚ޒ ᅆↈ↺ↂ↗↚↷↹⅚ล↳ࢮஹↈ↺ᑔ↝⇊∇∞⇞ ⇁↜ӳ↾↊⅚್ා↝ᚡচ⊦᧓⇁ᛖ↹ⅺↀ↕ⅳ ↭ↈ⅛ 䣅䣱䣲䣻䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䢢䤊䢢 ୍⯡♫ᅋἲேᶓ僥僐僎僥僯傪凤凣䢰䢢䣃䣮䣮䢢䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䣵䢢䣴䣧䣵䣧䣴䣸䣧䣦䢰䢢 ≝ ․•‣․‚ ․…‛࠰ Placing this anchor, discovered during the construction of a new building, on display in the galleria brings together the images of a port and the ships that come and go from it, speaking to the memory and time of Yokohama. ᘑғ≌ Yokohama Blue Avenue (Block 46) Guide Map D-6 It blows. Depending on the angle it is viewed from, the bright yellow of the piece might be glimpsed from between the trees, or the trees themselves might form a backdrop to the piece, bringing it a real sense of highlighted presence. ᘑғ≌ YOKOHAMA i-MARK PLACE (Block 46) ‣‚ ․ ଯԧ ‥ ‛࠰ʮᣃဃ↭↻⅛ ԉ৷ↀⅺ↸ݰⅺ↻ᐯή↗⅚ԧኡ⇈∞⇮⇁ᡫ ↆภⅺ↮↝ⅱ↺ήⅻ⅚ཋɶ↗ځᡫ৷ↀᡫែ ↝⇕∓⇟∃⇊∙⇮⇁ɥ૾↧↝࠼ⅻ↹⇁ॖᜤↄ↊ ↺⊣ԧ↮↝ᆰ᧓⊤↗ↆ↕Јↆ↕ⅳ↭ↈ⅛ ⇐∐⇞⇰∑⊣ԧኡ⊤⇁̅ဇↆ↕⅚ԧ⊦⊦⊡≖↓↝ ⊣↾⊤↖↓↙ⅿ⊦↓↙ↁ↺⇁⇙∙⇡⇽⇮↚⇭⇜⇊∙ ↄ↻⅚ီऴደⅱ↤↻↺್ා↝ล⅚ෙ↱૾↝ٳ ٶⅾᚧ↻↺↮↙↗↮↸ⅳ↚Ⴛࣖↆⅳଐஜ↸ↆⅳ ˺Լ↖ↈ⅛ԉ৷↞ؾᘺፗ↗ↆ↕⅚ᐯή⇁ ཋϋ↚ݰⅾ↗ӷ↚⇐⇻⇉⇟⇻∓⇈↝ൢ⇝∉ ⇻⇮↗ↆ↕↱ೞᏡↆ⅚⇈∞⇮∕∞⇕↱ଐࠝ⇁ૅ ⅷ↺᭗ⅳࣱؾᏡ↗᩼ࠝ↝ܤ࣎ܤμࣱᏡ⇁˳ ྵↆ↕↭ↈ⅛ 䣅䣱䣲䣻䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䢢䤊䢢 ୍⯡♫ᅋἲேᶓ僥僐僎僥僯傪凤凣䢰䢢䣃䣮䣮䢢䣴䣫䣩䣪䣶䣵䢢䣴䣧䣵䣧䣴䣸䣧䣦䢰䢢 Guide Map D-5 ˺ԼӸ Title ≝ ԧ∝∝ ˺ܼӸ Artist name ≝ ؗங ⇎∐܇ ERIKO HORIKI ᚨፗئ Location ≝ ≔‸ ދϋ 1F Inside ឋ Materials ≝ ⅼԧኡ Handmade Japanese Paper ⇛⇊⇠‚›⁉‶‛ Size ≝ ⁉ †‧⁷‾‧†⁷›‣†‥‧ С˺࠰ Year created ≝ ․•‣…‚ ․ ‛࠰ The artist was born in 1962 in Kyoto. The natural light drawn in through the atrium and the warm light passing through the paper art create a “harmonious space,” invoking an awareness of the spread of the cross point between the center of the building and the atrium passageway. Using original “Japanese paper,” the piece was designed under the concept of three words with the pronunciation “wa” in Japanese, with the meanings “Japanese,” “Ring” and “Link”, creating an essentially Japanese piece yet also most suited to the highly international Yokohama port and its many foreign visitors. The atrium works as a circulatory device, not only brining natural light into the building but also operating as a ventilation shaft for the office floor, and the artwork also represents the high environmental performance that supports everyday life, and a feeling of safety and reassurance in an emergency. ᘑғ≌ Shincron Head Office / NO.2 Head Office Building (Block 49) Guide Map C-6 ⇝∙⇕∓∙⇈∞⇮ ˺ԼӸ Title ≝ ˺ܼӸ Artist name ≝ ఇࡸ˟ᅈɤᓛעᚨᚘ Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei Inc ᕲဋ ʁૠ Hisakazu Fujita ᚨፗئ Location ≝ ≔‸ ٳދ 1F, Outside ឋ Materials ≝ ᭗ᡢᢅ⇒∏⇟⅚ ⇦⇊⇕∓⇊⇩⇕∅∏∞⅚ ⇻∓⇟⇮⇒∏⇟⅚ ਘ⇻⇉∑⇥∞ሁ High Transparancy Glass, Dichroic Mirrors, Frosted Glass, Diffusion Filters etc. The motifs of the piece are two things intrinsically linked with Yokohama, ships and trains. The city of Yokohama has a rare and exceptional appeal, and it is the refined culture and vista of the city that brings people to it, and makes them love it. The train plays the role of connecting the rail museum and Yokohama together, while the ship connects the sea and nature and buildings. The aim of art is to fuse the people of the town with nature and create a new appeal to Yokohama, and the value of its existence. These pieces, which also function as windbreaks and as benches, are colored blue to represent the sky and sea of Yokohama, and red to match the rose, the flower of the city.
