A volunteer group of teens who provide teen perspective on the services and materials the library offers. History of Brewing in Milwaukee Presidents Book Club Tuesday, September 20, 6:30pm Thursday, September 22, 2pm Earlier this year, the Milwaukee County Historical Society featured “Brew City MKE: Craft, Culture, Community,” an exhibition exploring Milwaukee's culture of beer and brewing. Brew City MKE was the first exhibition of its kind, and featured rarely-seen artifacts and images to tell the story of how Milwaukee became the beer capital of the United States. Ben Barbera will talk about the exhibit and Milwaukee’s pivotal role in the history of brewing in the United States. This month’s book is Annette Gordon-Reed’s Andrew Johnson. A portrait of America's 17th president describes Andrew Johnson's failed efforts to bring about reconciliation following the Civil War, the antagonism of congressional leaders who sought his impeachment, and his legacy for the present.
