SAFETY FIRST
Parents Have a Key Role in Emergency Response:
During and following an emergency situation,
school and district officials must act quickly and
follow established emergency protocols to safeguard students and staff, secure schools, and communicate accurate information in a timely manner. Parents can assist greatly by helping with
preparation before the emergency. Please visit
http://myvolusiaschools.org, and click on the parents tab for more information...
CHAMPION ELEMENTARY STUDENT PLEDGE
Champion Elementary is a Bully Free School
Music Notes for March:
We are in full swing with our music department activities for
this 2015 school year. First, I would like to introduce our Spring
Senior Intern from Bethune-Cookman University Ti’Rhon Parks.
He has been working with our students since the end of January and they are all enjoying his lessons and energy that he
brings to Champion Elementary.
Secondly, the Champion Elementary Chorus has begun it’s practices on Tuesday afternoon after school until 4:15pm. They are
learning songs to perform on our Spring Concert and Talent
Show in May. It’s not too late if your child want to be a part of
our Spring Chorus. The chorus is open to any students in Kindergarten through to 5th grade who would like to participate.
Next our STOMP team began their rehearsals in February as
well. If your students received an invitation to participate with
the STOMP percussion team they should have returned the
permission slip to me. A complete list of practices was attached
to the permission slip.
Finally, the third graders are working hard learning to play the
recorder and having a great time through the process. If your
child has their own recorder, please encourage them to practice
at home and play some of the songs we have been working on
in class. If you have questions about the happenings within the
music department please do not hesitate to call me here at
Champion.
1.
We will not bully other students.
2.
We will help others who are being bullied by speaking out and
by getting adult help.
3.
Students will report suspected
bullying to an adult on campus.
4.
Parents may also call the main
office to report possible bullying.
Musically Yours,
Kris Light
Music Teacher

Second Grade News
Fourth Grade News
Second grade students are looking
forward to their field trip to the
Sanford Zoo on March 16th.
Thank you to all of the students who participated in our
social studies fair. The projects were wonderful. Congratulations to the following students whose projects were
recognized as outstanding.
Posters: Brooklyn Forrest, Kennedy Jamack, Hayden
Helman, Jordan Estep, and Kavon Davis
Exhibits: Athan Harrell, Alexander Shallop, Daniel
Masiglat, Kiersten Morris
Fourth graders also had a blast on their St. Augustine
trip. Students explored the Castillo de San Marcus Fort,
rode the trolley train around town, drank water from the
Fountain of Youth, experienced life back in the early
1800’s, and much more. It was a great adventure and
will be remembered by all who attended!
