Stores Information and Procedures
The Stores shop here at the Department of Materials is for everyone’s general convenience, stocking a broad
range of general goods from stationery to lab ware. If you require things like pens, lab coats, sample boxes,
tweezers, notebooks, cleaning materials and much more besides, the stores should be your first port of call. It's
easy, convenient, and right on your doorstep.
If you would like to order items from the stores, simply look up what you need in the stores catalogue then fill
in a Stores Requisition Form (Also available on the website). Once you've done that, sign it, print your name
(legibly) and date the form at the bottom. Finally enter the cost code or project code the items are going to be
charged to (This is very important as no order can be accepted without it). If you don't know your code, ask your
tutor, supervisor or enquire with the departments finance team and also, to find out if you need your form
authorised by them. (Please note we don't except cash payments.)
Next, pop down to the stores with your form, it is advisable, if you require a large amount of goods, to bring a
bag or container with you to transport the items back to your office or lab. The stores technician will then pick
your goods for you. Simple!

2. Ensure the chemicals are in the most
appropriate container, the containers are
fully and correctly labelled, and clean and
free of chemicals on the outside. Preprinted chemical-resistant labels are
available free of charge from Stores.
Containers not correctly labelled will not be
accepted for disposal by the Chemicals
Technicians.
3. Send the completed waste forms to the
Chemicals Technicians by e-mail
(chemicals@materials.ox.ac.uk); they will
contact you and arrange a date and time for
you to bring the chemicals to the chemical
waste building.

broadest appeal and usage requirements, taking into consideration all group, departmental and student
