1 Summary of contents
The content of the version 8 of Xprint has been defined to improve the product ease-of-use
by offering more user-friendly interfaces and at the same time better meet the requirements
of large configurations from the administration and monitoring point of view.
This release focuses on
- Support of Windows Server 2008 environment,
- Corrections.

1.1 Support of Windows Server 2008
Xprint is now available on Windows 2008 Server Standard, Service Pack 2, 32-bit.
A special edition of Xprint 8.0F is available on demand for running in 32 bits mode on the
Windows 2008 server R2 64 bits platform.
1.2 Corrections
All the corrections introduced in this release are described in the release notes of Xprint
V8.0F.
2 Hardware requirements
As the product Xprint is likely to run on a wide range of platforms and environments, the
hardware requirements for a safe operation will strongly depend on the chosen configuration:
number of hosts in the domain, number of devices, number of users, number and size of
jobs, used features, system workload, etc.
For this reason, it is difficult to define fixed hardware requirements for the system running
Xprint. However, some guidelines are included in the product release notes to help
calculating the hardware resource requirements according to the usage of each feature of
the product. Additionally, some typical usage models are validated and documented in term
of hardware requirements.

The detailed software requirements are documented in the product release notes. The

4 Installation
Installation procedures are available on all platforms.
5 Documentation
The manuals of Xprint V8 are available in English and German. Other documents are also
delivered to describe:
• Product mastering “Getting Started Guide”: starting with the most simple examples of
installation and configuration tasks, up to the most complex architectures involving
inter-domain communication, job data pre-processing, etc.
• Manuals “add-on” have been realized to describe in details the content of the Xprint
releases (V8.0B, V8.0C, V8.0D, V8.0E).
