It is recommended that students consult with an academic advisor about potential courses and to plan for the admissions process. 3/4
1 First Year Composition can be completed by two different sequences: a two semester sequence of ENGL 101 followed by ENGL 102, or by a one semester option of ENGL 109 Honors. ENGL 109 requires placement. First Year Composition is not required of MEPN students. 2 Chemistry sequence: students must pair chemistry courses for the proper sequence (must be at least two lectures and one lab): CHEM 101A pairs with 101B and 102, 151 pairs with 152; 105A and 106A pairs with 105B and 106B. 3
Completion of introductory chemistry is recommended before enrolling in MCB 181R. Introductory Biology is not required of MEPN students. 4
The following Statistics courses are approved to meet the Moderate Math Strand requirement for university graduation requirements: MATH 163, MATH 263 & ISTA 116. The Moderate Math Strand requirements will not be met by PSY 230. A minimum grade ‘C’ is required for any individual Nursing Prerequisite course. Applicants must maintain above a 3.0 GPA for all prerequisite courses as well as a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The MEPN Program does not require Introductory Biology or First Year Composition as they are not used for Prerequisite scores for the MEPN program admission. 4

PREREQUISITE COURSE EVALUATIONS Arizona, Public Institutions Students who have attended public community colleges or other universities in the State of Arizona, can check online for In‐State Course Equivalencies at AzTransfer.com, under the Course Equivalency Guide. Arizona, Public courses with direct equivalency do not require evaluation. Out of State and Private Institutions Students who attended/plan to attend courses outside of Arizona, or at private institutions should submit courses for evaluation to the College of Nursing’s Prerequisite Course Evaluation page. For comparison, see the following pages for the course descriptions of accepted UA courses. 

The Prerequisite Course Evaluation, requires a course description and a direct link to the course in the catalog of the institution attended. Quarter System: If your institution used a Quarter system, and not a Semester system, you will need to multiple the Quarter hours by .667 to determine the Semester hours equivalent. o 5 Quarter Hours = 3.33 Semester Hours – acceptable for any 4 Semester Hour course o 4 Quarter Hours = 2.66 Semester Hours – acceptable for any 3 Semester Hour course ADMISSION SCORES AND DEADLINES Admission Requirements Prerequisite GPA Cumulative GPA Personal Statement Essay: Rigor Interview Application Deadline Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
