620EH Explosive Safety Igniter Tester

The AMPTEC 620EH Explosive Safety Igniter Tester is a portable digital milli-ohmmeter specifically designed for ultra-safe resistance testing on explosive devices

(i.e. squibs, igniters, flares, explosive bridge wire and detonators) . With 4 ½ digit resolution and a low Ohm range of 2.0 Ohms fullscale, the AMPTEC 620EH provides ordnance safe resistance measurements and viewing even in direct sunlight. The AMPTEC 620 series have had the unit's circuitry reviewed and approved by many U.S. Government Munitions Safety Boards for specific military programs (i.e. U.S.A.F Non-nuclear

Munition Safety Board). AMPTEC RESEARCH also offers over 10 models of Explosive Safety Igniter Testers and a full assortment of 4 wire Kelvin test leads, along with all of AMPTEC's meter accessories .

High and Low Ohm Ranges with Accuracy

The AMPTEC 620EH Explosive Safety Igniter Tester offers the following fullscale ranges: 2.0 , 20 , 200 and 2 .

0 M . The 2.0 range provides a 4-wire Kelvin resistance measurement from 0.0000 to 1.9999 and offers a low 0.1 milliohm (100 µ ) resolution . For isolation measurements, the high resistance 2 .

0 M range provides “ open circuit ” verification of ( >2.0

Megohms ) live ordnance and squibs. Squibs are ~ 1.0

Ohm, cheaper igniter testers only offer a lowest range of

20 ( a 2.0 range is 10 times better ).

Incredibly Safer than a DMM

Multifunction DMM’s offer so many measurement modes (i.e DC Voltage, AC Voltage, DC current, AC current, frequency etc.) a user can accidentally mismeasure igniter circuit resistance. Even worse, with a

DMM if there is an electrical fault the igniter circuit may accidentally fire . If the 620EH had an electrical fault it offers the life saving advantage of failing safe.

RS232 C Serial Interface - Optically Isolated

Safe Automated remote controlled Squib Testing

National Instruments GPIB Converter Option also

Option " 232 " is an optically isolated RS232C x remote control interface that safely change ranges x and safely provides remote reading of the

.

A MPTEC 620EH Igniter Tester’s resistance over to a PC fitted with an RS232C Interface (i.e. COM1 port). The serial interface provides full control of the AMPTEC 620EH including over-range status which informs the operator the measurement ( i.e.

isolation testing ) is greater than 2 Megohms. A

National Instruments GPIB/RS232 convertor is also available to adding a AMPTEC 620A series Tester into a GPIB system.

Remote Readings Out - System Interfacing via Isolated Analog Output - Datalogging Use

The AMPTEC 620EH Explosive Safety Igniter Tester is available with an optically isolated remote readings analog output interface. The rear panel option "620ISO" provides an electrically isolated analog DC voltage output that is directly proportional to the measured resistance (i.e. 1.2345 VDC out of the “620ISO” interface equals 12.345 Ohms, 1.0000 VDC out the interface equals 10.000 Ohms on the units 20 Ohm range ). The unit’s failsafe resistance measurement circuitry integrity is always intact when connected to an explosive element or squib even with the “620ISO” optically isolated analog output (remote readings system interface) option .

Operates 24 Hours a day without Batteries

AC Isolated to 3 KV AC - UL 61010 compliant

Any battery operated product eventually has to have the batteries charged or replaced. When the AMPTEC 620VL is fitted with Option "247" Continuous

Isolated Operating Power it can be safely operated 24 hours a day 7 days a week. For safety reasons, the option "247" uses a medical grade, dual stage, line isolated DC to DC convertor design. It is line isolated rated up to 3000 volts

(3 KV AC) using the supplied qualified AC wall adapter.

The option "247" was AC Hipot line Isolation tested for isolation for up to 3 KV AV or DC , when used with the

AMPTEC supplied and qualified AC wall adapter.

Meter Accessories - Transit Case, Probes and more . .

The AMPTEC 620EH comes with battery charger,

Operator manual, and US N.I.S.T. calibration certificate.

Option "300"

Kelvin Clip Test Leads Option “290” Alligator Test Lead Set

All AMPTEC 620 series test lead and probe sets are a minimum 48" length, dual banana termination at the ohmmeter end (call the Sales

Department at AMPTEC RESEARCH for any custom requirement).

Option "110" Test Lead Pouch ( Mounted on the 620A4 top lid ) with enough storage room to hold a variety of test leads and accessories

(see photo above).

Option "300" Gold Plated Four Terminal Kelvin Clip Test Lead Set open to ½" for connection to wires, lugs, etc.

Option "401" Single Pointed Handheld Probe Set - ideal for probing into recessed squib wire sockets, and onto larger metal surfaces (flat or round) such as flares, rounds and shells, that do not easily accept test lead clip attachment.

Option "403" 4 Terminal Kelvin Mini-probes (photo shown above)

Each probe has two spring loaded, gold plated, steel tips with 0.18" separation.

(one red and one black handheld probe). Excellent general purpose Mini-Probe, and along with the Option "300" Kelvin Clip

Leads easily fit inside the AMPTEC 620EH Test Lead Pouch

(OP110).

Option “620-ISO” Isolated Analog Output provides an isolated DC

Voltage output directly proportional to the measured resistance

( 1.2345 VDC =1.2345 ohms). A datalogger or system DVM can safely measure the isolated voltage as being representative of the actual resistance of the device under test.

Option "247" for continuous operation 24Hr/7day. Dual stage isolation provides safe power for 620 series Igniter Tester to safely run continuous

24 Hrs/day without batteries.

It’s proven “Medical Safety 3 KV Isolation” technology is used in monitoring human patients wired to electrical instrumentation. This field tested option is presently running in over 50

AMPTEC 620 series igniter testers in U.S. Anti-Ballistic Missile systems

(24Hrs/7). 3KV AC Isolation (includes AMPTEC's qualified wall adapter)
