Q: How many languages does PCS-XG80 support?
A: 21 languages are supported (English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Polish, Russian,
Arabic, Thai, Norwegian, Turkish, and Welsh)
Q: How many entries are available in the phonebook?
A: Up to 1,000 total entries maximum, as well as 100 groups are available
Q: What size is the thumbnail image used in the phonebook?
A: Image size used is 240x135. (Previous SD models use 80x60)

Q: Is there the difference between NTSC and PAL models?
A: No, all you need to do is set "Frequency" to 50Hz or 60Hz under Video Setup menu.
Q: There are two LAN terminals. What for?
A: This is for direct support for Dual network interface LAN and WAN / Internal and External networks,

A: About 90 seconds. To resume from the standby mode, it takes about 50 seconds

A: When connection is made with SD then 4:3 picture is shown on the 16:9 output, black edges left

A: When not in communication the system will show the main camera, when select PC or receive PC

Q: What is BrightFaceTM function?
A: This feature compensates the image pixels individually for brightness control providing more clarity
than traditional backlight when camera is pointing towards a window. BrightfaceTM level can be
adjusted or turned off as needed
Q: Does PCS-XG80 support a ceiling mounted cameras?
A: Yes, it supports both BRC-H700 and BRC-Z700 as ceiling mount HD camera option
Q: If I use other HD camera in place of PCSA-CXG80 camera what will happen?
A: PCS-XG80 supports other camera connections like EVIHD1, BRC300 or BRC700 and SD terminal
camera but you will not be able to use BrightFaceTM or camera Fade in features as these are only
available with PCSA-CXG80 camera
Q: What is "Image Flip" function in the camera setup menu?
A: It allows you to select whether to rotate the camera image 180 degrees vertically when the camera
is installed on a ceiling. Setting it to "Flip Vertical" turns on the image flip function of the camera. This
feature is for BRC-H700/BRC-Z700 cameras only
Q: Does PCS-XG80 have a tracking camera option like SD terminal with PCSA-CTG70?
A: No, PCS-XG80 does not support tracking camera functions

Q: Does PCS-XG80 have backward compatibility?
A: Yes, PCS-XG80 is compatible with SD and HD terminals that also support H320 and H323
communications
Q: Can I import address books from other terminals into PCS-XG80?
A: No, the address book structure is different from previous terminals
Q: Does PCS-XG80 support AES encryption with other terminals?
A: Yes, PCS-XG80 supports encryption within both ISDN and IP connections
Q: Can I use H239 mode with other older terminals?
A: Yes, PCS-XG80 supports H239 using H263/XGA and H264/XGA as well as receiving DualVideo
mode from Tandberg and PCS-G70 SD terminals
MCU operation FAQ section
Q: How many sites are supported with MCU option?
A: PCS-XG80 supports 6 site internal MCU mode or up to 10 sites (voice active) when MCU cascaded
connection via IP is used.
Q: Can PCS-XG80 support mixed ISDN and IP connections?
A: Yes, when MCU option is installed you can mix ISDN, IP, SIP as well as connect to LAN and WAN
parties when using both Network ports
Q: Can PCS-XG80 support different speeds and modes during MCU connections?
A: PCS-XG80 allows for speed matching and transcoding between IP and ISDN connections.
Q: What resolution can be achieved within MCU?
A: PCS-XG80 can support up to 720P resolution within continuous presence MCU

Q: What is the 1080i mode?
A: 1080i mode provides 1920x1080 full HD resolution in interlaced mode for higher motion quality of
60fields/s. Generally only used for basic Point-Point operation mode to provide very best image
available.
Q: What resolution does PCS-XG80 codec support?
A: PCS-XG80 supports 1080i, 720p, W4CIF(w576p), w432p, WCIF(w288p), 4CIF, CIF & QCIF
Q: What will happen when H.239 presentation starts in 720/60p mode?
A: A frame rate of 60fps is automatically changed to 30fps. After H.239 presentation is finished,
conference is resumed at 30fps.
Q: Do we have any plan for PCS-XG80 to support 1080p?
A: At this time no, 1080/60i mode provides much smoother motion than 1080/30p, also most
commonly available HD displays only support 1080i
Q: What is the recommended bandwidth to achieve the HD video?
A: We recommend 1.5Mbps for 720/30p. HD resolution is also available when using lower speeds by
setting the communication resolution mode to prioritize 720 resolution
Q: What resolution is displayed when the PC image is output through HDMI?
A: It is converted from XGA or SXGA to 1080i and output. No deterioration occurs in image quality.
Q: Does PCS-XG80 support stereo audio?
A: Yes, it does. MPEG-4 AAC codec supports stereo audio frequency with 48kHz
Q: Does the stereo echo canceller work for the external LINE inputs?
A: Yes, it does. Stereo cancelling is available from the external LINE inputs
Q: How many “standard” microphones can be connected with PCS-XG80?
A: Two A1 or A3 microphones. If use PCSA-A7P4 microphones then up to 80 can be connected.

Q: Can I automatically turn on the PCS-XG80 when a power interruption occurs?
A: Yes. It is possible if Auto Restore is set to On within the setup using Administrator 7.
Q: What type of Memory Stick can be used with PCS-XG80?
A: Memory Stick PRO or PRO DUO (without adaptor) can be used, all sizes available.
Q: Can I stream or record the conference directly from PCS-XG80?
A: Yes, streaming and recording of ALL information that is shown on the main monitor is available
from PCS-XG80.
Q: What resolution is provided for streaming or recording?
A: Both streaming and recording provide CIF resolution at up to 512kbps speed
Q: Which pen tablet does PCS-XG80 support for annotation?
A: PCS-XG80 supports only the Bamboo MTE-450 manufactured by Wacom. Other wireless tablets or
LCD tablets are not supported
