Rain Bird Golf takes a quantum leap in irrigation technology with the easy-to-use Cirrus™ central control system.
With more than 5 years of field operation, Cirrus allows
you to control your irrigation system with more precision
than ever before. Like Rain Bird’s Nimbus™ II and Stratus™ II, this multi-management central control system
takes advantage of the newest Microsoft® Windows® operating system with advanced graphics and 32-bit architecture. With state of- the-art ET-based scheduling, customized course graphics, multiple mapping options and the
ability to “see” the placement and operation of individual
rotors, Cirrus makes controlling your irrigation system fast
and easy. Install Confidence, Install Cirrus.
Advanced Graphical Tracking
Cirrus lets you see your course like no other
central control system can. Incorporating maps
generated by GPS technology and CAD,* Cirrus can graphically recreate your course with
actual irrigation system layouts down to individual rotors. Then, with true 32-bit graphics,
you can “zoom-in” to monitor every detail of
your course. Just double-click on a rotor for a
complete status report. A tree-view control
allows you to visualize and manipulate programs and schedules with the support of visual
graphics, colorized text and color references.
Map utilities provide measurement and area
calculations from the map.

The unique deep “slant” bell design allows the pipe
to deflect within the bell end of the fittings up to 5
degrees in all directions, relieving stress on the
pipe that might be snaked through a trench (up,
down and sideways).
This unique feature also makes installation easier.
Trenches do not have to be cut precisely. Leemco
fittings allow +/- 5 degree on each end. This
means that a 45 degree bend fits within a trench cut
of 35 to 55 degrees.

The 1200NGB™:
The Catch Basin Contractors Have Been Asking For.
NDS is pleased to announce the release of our newest
drainage product, the 1200NGB (Next Generation
Basin). The NGB is a 12” x 12” plastic catch basin with
height-adjustable outlets. This adjustability makes the
NGB the perfect solution for almost any installation.
The NGB saves time in two ways. First, the outlets can
be adjusted to match the height of the pipe, which means
fewer pipe fittings and adjustments. Second, the NGB
itself is easy to adjust and install. And saving time with
the NGB means quicker and more profitable installations.
The NGB was developed based on contractor feedback.
They wanted a catch basin that would be easier to install,
saving them time and money in labor costs.
More than anything else, contractors wanted the ability
to vary the height of the inlet/outlets. The NGB has the
adjustability contractors asked for; it is easy to install and
will save them time and money.

TufftrackTM Grassroad Pavers are a honeycomb cell paver product that allows light to heavy vehicular traffic to drive over turf areas. It prevents soil
compaction, allowing healthy root growth. It may also
be used for erosion control. A tongue and groove
latching system provides quick and secure connections
between the pavers without the need of additional tools
or parts. Tufftrack Grassroad Pavers’ top smooth surface eliminates sharp corners, reducing liability to pedestrians. Tufftrack Grassroad Pavers are the ultimate
product for promoting healthy turf in traffic areas as an
alternative to aesthetically unpleasant concrete or asphalt pavements.
EZ RollTM Grassroad Pavers
The EZ Roll Grassroad Paver is a plastic grass paver that
allows light to heavy vehicular traffic to drive over turf areas.
It prevents soil compaction, allowing healthy root growth
where grass canthrive. The paver is used to stabilize soil and
allows turf to grow in areas that would traditionally have
impervious hardscaping installed. The EZ Roll can be used as a
BMP for NPDES Phase II compliance. This engineer-designed
grasspaver comes in pre-assembled rolls for easy installation.

It is the responsibility of the installer to connect all electronic irrigation
equipment for which he is responsible to earth ground in accordance with
Article 250 of the National Electrical Code® ( NEC®.) Use grounding
electrodes that are UL® listed or manufactured tomeet the minimum
requirements of Article 250 of the 2005 edition of the NEC®. At the very
minimum, the grounding circuit will include a copper clad steel ground rod,
a solid copper ground plate and 100 pounds of PowerSet® earth contact
material, as defined below and per the following detail. This detail is the
minimum requirement for supplementary grounding of any electronic
equipment. Other details, for a multitude of field situations, are available
form the American Society of Irrigation Consultants, ASIC Guideline
100-2002 (www.asic.org, “Design Guides”.)

The ground grid components must be installed with the dimensional relationships
shown in the detail below. WIRES, CABLES, AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
MUST BE INSTALLED OUTSIDE “THE SPHERE OF INFLUENCE” OF THE
GROUNDING ELECTRODES.
Ground rods are to have a minimum diameter of 5/8” and a minimum length of 10
feet. These are to be driven into the ground in a vertical position or an oblique angle
not to exceed 45 degrees at a location 10 feet from the electronic equipment. The rod
is to be stamped with the UL® logo [Paige Electric part number 182007.] A 6 AWG
solid bare copper wire (about 12 feet long) shall be connected to the ground rod by
the installer using a Cadweld GR1161GPLUS ”One-Shot” welding kit [Paige Electric
part number 1820037P.] This wire shall be connected to the electronic equipment
ground lug. The copper grounding plate assemblies shall be 4” x 96” x .0625” [Paige
Electric part number 182199L.]
A 25-foot continuous length (no splices
allowed unless using exothermic welding
process) of 6 AWG solid bare copper wire is to be
attached to the plate by the manufacturer using an
approved welding process. This wire is to be
connected to the electronic equipment ground
lug. If the equipment ground lug only accepts one
wire, connect the second wire to the first with a
brass split bolt, as close to the equipment lug as
possible. The ground plate is to be installed to a
minimum depth of 30”, or below the frost line if
it is lower than 30”, at a location 8 feet from the
electronic equipment and underground wires and
cables.

Two 50-pound bags of PowerSet“ [Paige Electric part number 1820058] earth
contact material must be spread so that it surrounds the copper plate evenly along
its length within a 6” wide trench. Salts, fertilizers, bentonite clay, cement, coke,
carbon, and other chemicals are not to be used to improve soil conductivity because
these materials are corrosive and will cause the copper electrodes to erode and become
less effective with time. Install all grounding circuit components in straight lines.
When necessary to make bends, make sweeping turns, as shown. When connecting
bare copper wire to the ground lug of electronic equipment, it must be fed through a
dedicated 1.5” plastic sweep ell. The earth-to-ground resistance of this circuit is to
be measured using a Megger®, or other similar instrument, and the reading is to be
no more than 10 ohms. If the resistance is more than 10 ohms, additional ground
plates and PowerSet® are to be installed using ASIC Guidelines 100-2002 (www. asic. org, “Design Guides”.)
It is required that the soil surrounding copper electrodes within the sphere of influence be kept at a minimum
moisture level of 15% (by volume) at all times. All underground circuit connections are to be made using an
exothermic welding process by utilizing products such as the Cadweld PLUS “One-Shot” kits. Solder shall not
be allowed to make connections. In order to ensure proper ignition of the “One-Shot”, the Cadweld PLUS
Control Unit igniter must be utilized [Paige Electric part number 1820040CU]. The 6 AWG bare copper wires
are to be installed in as straight a line as possible, and if it is necessary to make a turn or a bend it shall be done
in a sweeping curve with a minimum radius of 8” and a minimum included angle of 90°. Mechanical clamps
shall be permitted temporarily during the resistance test process, but are to be replaced with Cadweld PLUS
“One-Shot” kits immediately thereafter.
ALL GROUNDING COMPONENTS MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE ANY
OTHER CONNECTION IS MADE.

HIGH-FLOW PROPELLER AND NOZZLES
The StrataFlo pump features a unique propeller design instead of the traditional
impeller. This allows the StrataFlo to move significantly higher quantities of water.
Combined with the StrataFlo’s high-flow nozzles, the aeration capabilities are
significantly increased.
EVERYTHING INCLUDED
Every StrataFlo comes complete with float, pump, Command Center, 10 ft. motor lead,
and Quick Disconnect.
Nozzles are purchased separately and are interchangeable, so the unit can be adapted as needs require.

OASE StrataVator floating fountains have long been regarded as the foremost
solutions for virtually maintenance-free ponds and lakes, in small or large home
and park projects.
CUSTOMIZABLE PATTERNS
Flexibility in nozzle patterns is designed into
StrataVator floating fountains. Changing the pattern
is as simple as replacing the nozzle. This makes it
possible to rotate through patterns and make the
fountain display fit any occasion or surroundings.

Proper filtration and clean water are essential to the efficient operation of today’s irrigation
systems. Trash, algae, sand, silt and other solid contaminants in source waters will lead to plugged
nozzles, silt deposition, inoperative valves, and a significant reduction in overall efficiency. Rain
Bird filtration technology can resolve these problems in your system. Rain Bird® Sand Media
Filters provide reliability, efficiency and long-term economy. Made in the U.S.A., these filters are
designed and manufactured to exacting standards, giving you many years of top performance.
Rain Bird filtration systems are recommended for all systems using reclaimed wastewater for
irrigation.

Rain Bird’s Automatic Backwashing Screen Filter provides the ultimate in high-rate screen filter
performance. Powered by source line water pressure, the filter’s patented backwashing valve
system produces a reverse flow to flush the system of entrapped contaminants.
During the brief backwashing cycle, a portion of the clean
water produced by the system is diverted to the filter unit
undergoing backwashing. This reverse flow of filtered water frees contaminants from the filter screens. Each filter
canister is sequentially backwashed until the entire system
is cleaned.
Automatic Monitoring
This filtration system is automatically monitored either on
elapsed time since the last backwashing or pressure differential. This dual monitoring offers the user the flexibility
to assure that filter operation is maintained with high efficiency, low pressure drop and consistent high quality produced water. Rain Bird automatic controls are available
for A/C power, D/C power and solar power applications.

No matter the source of your irrigation water, you need to clear the water of trash and debris that
could block flow, damage the pump station or clog irrigation equipment.
Rain Bird’s galvanized, Self-Cleaning Pump Suction Screen removes trash and debris from water
sources, saving time and money in energy, pumping efficiency and maintenance costs. With a heavy 10mesh stainless steel screen, this model will increase your pump efficiency for many years to come.
The pump suction screen is attached to the end of the pump suction line. All water must pass through
the screen before entering the pump intake pipe. A small, side-stream pump discharge return line
drives two spray bars that continually rotate, jetting water at the screen and blasting debris away.
Made to last, Rain Bird’s Self-Cleaning Pump
Suction Screen’s all-metal construction has a
removable screen drum. There are no exterior
moving parts that can break down or need repair. The unit is completely corrosion resistant
and will not collapse under normal operation.
For added flexibility, Rain Bird’s Self-Cleaning
Pump Suction Screen can be installed at any
angle without affecting operation. It also has a
standard flanged connection (other connections
are available upon request). The included “Y
Strainer” — essential on the water jet supply
line — provides easy access for cleaning and
prevents the spray nozzles from plugging.

are to experience success. Because irrigation plays such a critical role in maintaining the
appearance of your course, renovating your current system will help you gain that competitive edge.
Rain Bird is your complete irrigation renovation partner. With the
experience gained from assisting superintendents from around the world,
we can help develop renovation plans that meet the needs of all sizes and
types of golf courses. Whether your goals include system modernization,
improved playability, cost reduction or water regulation, we can help you

for you. Our unique ability to partner innovation with versatility has
helped golf courses from around the world develop solutions for projects
of every size. You can trust that Rain Bird will provide the experience

Rain Bird’s Steps to Renovation Success
Experience has shown us that there are four basic steps to a
successful irrigation renovation, and your Rain Bird team will be
with you every step of the way to make sure that the completed
project meets your renovation goals.
Step 1: Assessment
During your course irrigation assessment, Rain Bird’s irrigation
experts will take the time to learn about your renovation goals,
concerns and budget guidelines. We will walk the course with you
to evaluate your current system capabilities and to enable us to
prepare a solution that successfully meets your goals, is within
budget and provides the flexibility to meet future course irrigation
requirements.
Step 2: Proposed Solution and Financial Analysis
During this step, your team will develop a complete renovation
solution based upon your completed course irrigation assessment,
goals, budgets and timing. We will also help you present and justify
the costs associated with the solution to your management.
Step 3: Design
Rain Bird will partner with you and your other renovation
consultants to make sure the design is accurate and complete. Our
team will also provide guidance and input to ensure the design
offers maximum flexibility to meet your future irrigation needs.
Step 4: Installation
Throughout the entire installation, Rain Bird irrigation specialists will
work with you, your renovation contractors and your maintenance
staff to provide:

Finance Letter
Example
Dear Mr. Golf Course:
We are pleased to provide you and your club with this finance estimate for the irrigation system that you are
considering. These payment estimates are for budgeting purposes and are intended to assist your club in
determining the feasibility of a new Rain Bird irrigation system. In our effort to provide valuable information as
you consider your payment options, we have attached two different scenarios with each estimated project cost:.
A schedule for 12 monthly payments per year. This provides an estimate of the monthly payment for a
loan with a term from 36 to 60 months.
A schedule for 6 payments per year. This ‘6 on, 6 off’ structure allows many seasonal operations to better
match cash flows. This option also provides for 36 to 60 month terms.
Please keep in mind that these figures are estimates only for use in evaluating some of the options for your club.
We can tailor the term and payment schedule to fit the specific needs of your operation.
Rain Bird has a great deal of experience in all facets of golf irrigation systems. We believe there are a few items to
consider in making this important decision.
Specifically, what is the objective of the proposed system? Some common objectives are:
Replacement of a worn-out or ineffective system
Need to improve course conditions
Reduce and avoid increasing maintenance costs
Reduce water use and expense
Comply with new water use regulations / restrictions. Use of effluent water is included in this category.
Page 127
G o l f
P r o d u c t s
C a t a l o g
Have you considered how your club is going to pay for this irrigation system? There are usually four choices:
K
Pay cash-does the club have sufficient cash that is unallocated for other projects?
Assess the members-if your club has members; assessment will depend on prior assessment history
and the votes required to pass a new assessment.
or a bank structures this as an operating line of credit neither of which is optimal for most clubs
(ask your Rain Bird distributor for a copy of the Board Room magazine article for greater detail).
Most local banks will not have prior experience in financing golf irrigation systems.
Rain Bird Finance-this program gives your club the advantage of fixed rate, fixed term, uncollateralized borrowing on all the hard and soft costs of your irrigation project. Rain Bird provides
clubs with an experienced irrigation lender that will customize the borrowing of your club regarding all aspects such as down payment, payment frequency, term and residual.
Will the new system save your club money in parts, labor, electricity and water? If so, your superintendent can
quantify these expected savings and create a monthly savings estimate. Subtract this number from the selected
monthly payment to come up with a net payment and divide this net number by the number of rounds or the
number of members. This net cost per round or per member per month is a useful figure to assist owners and
members in valuing this proposed system.
If your club wants to proceed with customized quotations on your project from Rain Bird Finance, we will
need to acquire some information on your club. There are two options,
You can supply the financial information requested or, you can have Rain Bird Finance contact the
appropriate person at your club to secure the financial information. In this case let us know whom
to contact.
The financial disclosure required depends on the dollar size of your proposed project.
If the project is under about $70,000 Rain Bird Finance requests only that you complete the attached
one page credit application, sign and return it to us along with information on your project cost
and requested terms.
If the project is larger than $70,000 we will request the following:
Completed Rain Bird Finance credit application
The complete year end financial statements on your club for the last three years. These statements should be from your accountant and include all notes to those statements. If these
statements are not audited, please include the corresponding three years of federal tax returns.
Example Letter (Continued)
Borrow from a local bank-this option usually requires the club to pledge their real estate as collateral
If the last year-end statement is more than 90 days old, please include the most recent interim
financial statements. These can be internal statements.
If the club is not owned by the members, we will need a current personal financial statement
on each significant financial principal. We would also like their federal tax returns for the
last three years.
Upon receipt of the requested financial information, Rain Bird Finance can provide a formal quotation based
on the customized request of your club. This is provided in the form of a small spreadsheet detailing several
options, cost per member pricing, interest rate and total interest payment over term. This is a useful tool for
your club to make an informed decision on the most appropriate option. If your club would like additional
information on the customized programs provided by Rain Bird Finance, please contact your Rain Bird distributor or you can reach Mike O’Keefe of Rain Bird Finance directly at 800-603-1644.
