APPLICATION

INTRODUCTION:
MEGASTAR-OHM Thick Film Resistor networks have metal glaze
elements on the ceramic substrates with strong chip-construction terminals
and are coated with special epoxy resin. These conformal coated single-inline (SIP) resistor networks are designed to meet a variety of application
requirements in a compact, highly reliable package.

The resistance temperature coefficient of MEGASTAR-OHM
carbon film resistors is relatively high. Their resistance value
changes inversely with temperature. But, as they are big in volune,
causing quick dissipation of heat and low temperature rise, they are
good enough in quality, stability and reliability, and are therefore
popularly used in consumer electronic appliances.

INTRODUCTION
The MEGASTAR-OHM RN series Metal Film Resistors are manufactured using a vacuum sputtering system to deposit multiple
layers of mixed metals and passivative materials onto a carefully treated high grade ceramic subsrtate, the resistors are coated
with layers of light-blue lacquer.
The MEGASTAR-OHM resistors, RN series encompasses an unusually broad selection of power ratings (1/8W, 1/4W, 1/2W,
1W, 2W, at 70ºC), tolerance (±0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%) and temperature coefficient (±15ppm/ºC, 25ppm/ºC, 50ppm/ºC,
100ppm/ºC) in all their combinations with full MIL-R-10509 performance.

M E G A S TAR-OHM series flame-proof type Metal Film
Resistors are manufactured by vacuum deposit metal film
on high thermal conductivity ceramic rods and are coated
with layers of light-blue color flame-proof lacquer. These
resistors meet overload tests in accordance with UL
specification #1412 without producing a fire hazard. (UL1412 is the standard for fusing resistors and temperaturelimited resistors)
This FMF flame-proof metal film resistor is designed to
replace the metal oxide resistors and low power wire
wound resistors when flame-proof and small size is
needed.

FEATURES
INTRODUCTION
RSF Series is a group of electric power type highly reliable
fixed resistors with special metal oxide film
thermochemically burned on the high heat conductive base
material. They include those of flame-resisting coating type
and nonflammable coating type and are of uniform quality
produced through the most modern production and quality
control system. They are most reliable products easily used
for various kinds of electronic devices and instruments.
RSS is a group of small-sized metal oxide film resistor,
apply high aluminum content ceramic cores with
performance for compact sizes.

DESCRIPTION
MEGASTAR-OHM Metal Oxide Resistors offer excellent performance in applications where stability and uniformity of
characteristics are desired. They provide lower cost alternatives to Carbon Composition Resistors and General Purpose Metal
Films. Metal Oxides also can replace many lower power General Purpose wirewound applications, saving both money and time,
with shorter delivery cycles. These Metal Oxides meet overload tests in accordance with UL specification #1412 without
producing a fire hazard. (UL #1412 is the industry standard for fusing resistors and temperature limited resistors.) These Metal
Oxides withstand solvents test in accordance with article MIL-STD-202E wothout producing mechanical or electrical damage.

INTRODUCTION
(KNP) type is to wind the resistance wire on a alkaliless
ceramic basic, coated with a non-corrosive and high
insulating heat proof material.

• The MEGASTAR-OHM resistor is fabricated using a

• Tolerance of 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 5%, 10% are standard.

FEATURES
INTRODUCTION
• Exceptionally small and sturdy; mechanically safe.
MEGASTAR-OHM resistors have excellent electrical
characteristics.
• The materials used and the construction techniques ensure
excellent flame resistance, arc resistance and moisture
resistance as well as self-extinguishing capabilities. They
will withstand the most rigorous loading test.
• As resistors in radio and television receivers, the hazardous
conditions of smoking and redheat can be completely
prevented by the proper choice of power resistors.
• Tolerances of 5%, and 10% are standard.
• Applicable specifications: EIA RS-344 and EIA RC-649.
• Non-inductive types available on all series.
1. As applying non-flammable materials, even if over
current flows, there will be no self-ignition occurring.
2. Completely insulated character suitable for printed
circuit board mounting.
3. Precise resistance value with long life proof.
4. Super heat dissipation; small linear temperature
coefficient.

APPLICATIONS
Molded jumper wires or crossovers, as they are sometimes called, are basically interconnection devices between points on a PC board.
They are generally used for the following reasons:
• Inability to connect two points on a PC board due to other circuit paths which must be crossed over.
• An after-the-fact design change that requires new point connections.
• Circuit tuning by changing point connections.
• Optional feature applications.
