NOTE: This revision replaces the original issue of SB560-34-122 in its entirety.

NOTE: This service bulletin is only applicable to airplanes that have the MST-67A Transponders and the
KFS-578A TCAS Control Head installed and want to upgrade to enhanced surveillance.
NOTE: Limitations and Conditions: This Service Bulletin should not be extended to other specific airplanes
of these models on which other previously approved modifications are incorporated, unless it is
determined by the installer that the interrelationship between this change and any of those other
previously approved modifications will introduce no adverse effect upon the airworthiness of that
airplane.
REASON
To add enhanced surveillance capability to the Mode S transponders.
DESCRIPTION
This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to install upgraded transponder units for enhanced
surveillance.

COMPLIANCE
OPTIONAL. This service bulletin may be accomplished at the discretion of the owner.
A service bulletin published by Cessna Aircraft Company may be recorded as “completed” in an aircraft
log only when the following requirements are satisfied:
1)
The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent
therein.
The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin
kit. Only with written authorization from Cessna Aircraft Company can substitute parts or rebuilt
parts be used to replace new parts.
The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as
approved and published.
The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft
serial numbers identified in the “Effectivity” section of the bulletin.
The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable
standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations.

FLIGHT CREW OPERATIONS
Refer to the attached Flight Crew Operations Summary.
Make sure that the Flight Crew Operations Summary included with this service bulletin is given to the
crew to inform them of the operational changes that come from the incorporation of this service bulletin.
APPROVAL
FAA approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that affects airplane type design.
This information shall be considered an amendment to the Cessna Manufacturer’s Maintenance Manual.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Prepare the airplane for maintenance.
A.
Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.
B.
Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.
C.
(1)
Disconnect the airplane battery.
(2)
Disconnect external electrical power.
Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT
CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.
2.
(Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Remove both 066-01143-0601 Transponders from the airplane.
3.
Return the removed 066-01143-0601 Transponders to Cessna Aircraft Company.
NOTE: Operators: The existing 066-01143-0601 Transponders may be modified. Contact Cessna
Citation Repairs to schedule modification at 1.866.349.8436 (US/Canada) or 1.316.517.8079
(International) or telefax 316.206.4068 or email to: citationrepair@cessna.textron.com. This will
require advance notification. Citation Repairs will schedule the units and arrange for their return.
Allow twenty days for modification. This service bulletin may not be signed off as completed
unless the units are scheduled through Cessna Citation Repairs.

(Refer to Figure 1, Detail B.) Remove the 071-01507-4404 (KFS-578A) TCAS Control Head from the
airplane.
5.
(Refer to Figure 1, Detail B.) Install the 071-01618-0125 (PS578A) TCAS Control Head in the airplane.
6.
(Refer to Figure 2.) Change the electrical wiring as shown. (Refer to the following sections of the
Wiring Diagram Manual, Chapter 20: Wiring - Maintenance Practices, Splices and Terminals, Electrical
Connectors.)
7.
(Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Install both 066-01143-2101 Transponders in the airplane.

8.
Remove maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery.

Configure the 071-01618-0125 (PS578A) TCAS Control Head.

A.
With a grounding wire, connect J1 (PI825) pin 24 to the airplane ground.
B.
Turn avionics power ON.
C.
With the A/N/B range selector dial in the PS-578A control head, dial in part number -4404.
D.
Turn avionics power OFF.
E.
Remove the grounding wire.
Enter the flight ID into the PS-578A control head.
A.
Select the FID push-button on the PS-578A control head.

This will let you enter the alphanumeric flight identification and annunciates FID on the
PS-578A control head display.
B.
Select the right inner push-button to cycle through the eight characters to be changed.
C.
Rotate the right inner knob to change the contents of the selected FID (flashing) character. Select
FID when complete to disable the flight ID entry procedure.
Do a test of the MST-67A transponders.
A.
Connect the pitot/static test set to the airplane and simulate altitude and airspeed. (Refer to the
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 34, Pitot-Static System - Inspection/Check.)
B.
Put the FMS in DEMO mode and make sure that the GPS signal is received.
C.
Use the transponder test set to make sure that the MST-67A transponders send the correct Mode S
code, altitude, flight ID, magnetic heading ground speed, and indicated airspeed.
D.
Remove the pitot/static test set to the airplane. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 34,
Pitot-Static System - Inspection/Check.)
E.
Take the FMS out of DEMO mode.
12.
Make sure that the Flight Crew Operations Summary included with this service bulletin is given to the
crew to tell them of the operational changes resulting from incorporation of this service bulletin.
13.
Insert the Airplane Flight Manual Supplement into the flight manual.
14.
A.
(Airplanes that use a US Airplane Flight Manual.) Make sure that the Airplane Flight Manual
Supplement 71, Revision 0 or later, Dual Honeywell MST-67A Enhanced Mode S Transponders
, is inserted into the Airplane Flight Manual.
B.
(Airplanes that use a UK Airplane Flight Manual.) Make sure that the Airplane Flight Manual
Supplement 13, Revision 0 or later, Dual Honeywell MST-67A Enhanced Mode S Transponders
, is inserted into the Airplane Flight Manual.
C.
(Airplanes that use a Brazilian Airplane Flight Manual.) Make sure that the Airplane Flight Manual
Supplement 11, Revision 0 or later, Dual Honeywell MST-67A Enhanced Mode S Transponders
, is inserted into the Airplane Flight Manual.
Record that this service bulletin has been completed.

Complete a Maintenance Transaction Report.

This summary provides additional information for the flight crew regarding operational changes as a result
of accomplishment of this service bulletin. Please remove this summary from the service bulletin and give
it to the flight crew. This summary is informational only and does not supersede any information in the
FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual.
