construction careers.
Incorporates student engagement and relevance to construction
careers that distinguishes the training from that of a traditional
high school.
17 week program that integrates contextual learning towards a
GED with credential training.
Contextualized learning in which terminology and lessons related
to the construction trades are infused into academic instruction.
OSHA 10; Construction Outreach; CPR/First Aid; Aerial Lift and
Forklift; Fire Watch and Traffic Flagger, Roofing, Solar Panel
Installation. 2- 4 week paid internship (20-25 hours a week $10
an hour).

assistance.
Training simulates actual jobsites; students constantly engage in
hands-on work, which allows them to be able to practice and
improve skills.
6 weeks
Using hand and power tools; properly mixing and spreading
mortar; basics of patios, chimneys, and walls; techniques of
pointing and leveling; OSHA 10.
Students will graduate with 210 hours of simulated on-the-job
training and OSHA 10 certification; students who complete
program possess knowledge and skills of a first year masonry preapprentice.
Green Environment
Organization North Star Center for Human Development

GHC is an American Academy of Professionals Coders (AAPC)
approved site; program places students in externships to help
them gain experience in medical coding in a real office setting.

The Kitchen at Billings Forge, Hartford’s premier farm-to-table
catering business and café, have partnered to provide culinary
education combining classroom instruction with on-site
experiential learning.
The lab sessions in the commercial kitchen at Billings Forge
emphasize hands-on learning such as knife skills, cooking
methods, product identification, and food handling.
12 week paid (40 hrs. per week at minimum wage) training
program.
Soups and Sauces, Bread Baking; Pastry Arts, Plating and
Presentation; Culinary Math, Nutrition, Global Cuisine, Food
Safety, Facilities Management.
Serv/Safe Food Handler’s certification, a widely recognized
industry standard for food safety and a required certification for all
food service managers.
