END OF ADDENDUM CC2 ADDENDUM CC2 CC2-2 ICO Guard Coating Product Data Sheet Product Description ICO-Guard Coating™ is a two part, 100% solids, epoxy coating primarily for protecting concrete surfaces in corrosive environments. It is a USDA approved material, with zero VOC’s, no odor, and excellent color stability. It is our highest chemical resistant, bisphenol A epoxy coating, resisting moderate to high concentrations of inorganic acids, caustics and some solvents. With a tensile elongation of 9%, it is a flexibilized coating that withstands impact and thermal shock far better than conventional, more brittle epoxy coatings. ICO Guard Coating has excellent damp, as well as dry adhesion to most substrates. No primer is needed. It is normally applied 10-20 mils per coat, depending on substrate. Two thinner coats are preferred to one thick coat to minimize entrapped air. ICO Guard Coating can be ordered in a fast cure version, ICO Guard Coating FC, for faster turnaround times and for applications down to 40°F, while our ICO Guard Coating XFC can cure down to 32°F. Note that both of these fast cure versions, if applied below 50°F, are prone to whitening under hot water wash-downs, so they should be top coated with our more color stable ICO Ure Guard 100, polyurethane coating. cleaners. See our Chemical Resistance Chart under “ICO Guard” for complete chemical resistance. With elongation of 140%, it combines the elastomeric properties of a urethane with the excellent dry and damp adhesion of an epoxy. Normally applied by roller or squeegee down to a minimum thickness of 20 mils, ICOLastic offers an impermeable moisture barrier against standing water. Applied by trowel in a “gun grade” version, ICO Lastic Gun Grade, it can also be used for interior expansion joints where moderate movement is expected. At minimum 60 mil thick applications, ICO-Lastic offers excellent crack bridging characteristics for inside or outside concrete structures. It will withstand light to moderate tow motor and automobile traffic. Product Application ICO-Lastic is used in food and beverage plants, where it’s no odor characteristics are desirable, as a waterproof membrane underneath acid brick or tile floors. Applied at approximately 60mils, it provides a good secondary containment barrier against some acids, caustics and fuel oils. For more highly corrosive areas, where crack bridging is required, ICO-Lastic is applied beneath one of our quarter inch higher chemical resistant epoxy overlayments. ICOLastic also acts as a complete waterproofing barrier for parking garages, balconies, walkways and roof decks (use ICO Ure Guard 80 or 100 for better UV resistance). ICO-Lastic Gun Grade offers a resilient (100% tensile elongation) yet tough caulking material that will hold up to normal fork lift traffic in expansion joints where moderate movement is expected. If this is not possible, contact ICO Technical Service for further information. 2. All surfaces to be covered should be power washed, shot blasted, acid etched, scarified or sanded to present a clean, 15 min. 50 min. 5 hrs. 9 hrs. sound substrate to which to bond to. The prepared surface should have a ph of 7. 3. Part A and B should be mixed in the prescribed ratio, using a low speed jiffy-style mixer (maximum 750 rpm), for at least 60 seconds. 4. ICO Primer LV is a 100% solids epoxy and no solvents are necessary. 5. Apply the mixed material with a fine nap adhesive roller, squeegee or brush. Apply at approximately 200-250 SF per gallon, depending on surface porosity. 6. Reprime any dry appearing areas. Failure to follow the above instructions, unless expressly authorized by a Milamar Technical Service Representative, will void our material warranty. Precautions 1. Primer LVFC very fast reacting; pour out of bucket immediately after mixing and spread with squeegee, especially at temps greater than 70°F 2. Only Primer FC and XFC can be applied below 50°F. Do not apply Primer XFC above 50°F 3. Recoat windows at 70°: Primer LV – 18 hours; LVFC – 10 hours; FC – 8 hours; XT – 18 hours, for expanding recoat window, broadcast in aggregate into primer. 4. Never apply Primer LV or LV FC more than 15 mils (100SF/gallon) per pass as it will not cure hard in greater thicknesses. Product Specification The specified area shall receive an application of ICOPrimer LV as manufactured by Milamar Coatings LLC of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The system shall be installed by precisely following the manufacturers published recommendations pertaining to surface preparation, mixing, and application. The material shall be a low odor, solvent free, 100% solids epoxy primer with excellent adhesion to damp as well as dry concrete, metal and wood.
