LED control gear LCC9sc - now with synchronization and automatic cascading
LED control gear LCC9 which is a patent-pending LED
driver and dimmer for LED fixture or wall box has now
been equipped with features for synchronization and
cascading under the name LCC9sc.
The new LED control gear LCC9sc is equipped with
new features to sync without a sync cable and automatic cascading. LCC9sc drives up to 540W LED and
controls with one retractive switch.

Synchronization without sync-cable
Up to 20 LCC30 can be controlled by a push button
that can be through-connected from driver to driver
and requires no external synchronization cable. It is
therefore possible to power up to 600W of LED.
Simultaneously controlled mixed loads
It is possible to combine constant current fixtures (CC),
constant voltage fixtures (CV) as well as popular LED
stripes on LCC30 and get an overall smooth dimming
by synchronizing the devices only through one push
button.
Easy to install in suspended ceiling
LCC30 is equipped with simple through connection
terminals for mains voltage 230 V as well as pushbutton control. The enclosure is designed with quicklocks on primary and secondary side and is equipped
with sturdy quick connection terminals. Installation in
suspended ceilings are made possible since LCC30 can
be entered through a normal 70 mm hole.

Up to 20 LCC60 can be controlled by a retractive
switch that can be forward connected from unit to unit

With the aid of common cabling multiple units can
be synchronized. This means that you can set up one
device at 12Vdc, 350mA at another, a third at 700mA
and get them to run and dim synchronized with a
single switch! You can thus operate and dim LED strips
and LED fixtures simultaneously. Regardless of brand.
Unique memory function
The unique memory function means that you can turn
on or off the light with for example motion detectors,
twilight switches or timers. If the light is on in a specific
dimmed mode and incoming voltage to LCC60 is
broken there will be light in the last dimmed mode without any additional action by retractive switch when
the power returns.
This also means that, for example, when the fuse
blows at home, light will return directly when the
fuse has been restored. At the same time, you do not
have to worry that the light will be on when you come
home from vacation, for example, if in the meantime
there has been a brief power outage.

LCC60MCM which is equipped with Multi control module MCM can be controlled by DALI and DMX.
The two outputs in the LCC60MCM can in a bus
system be controlled individually. Each outlet can dim
different types of LED. LCC60MCM gives a precise and
accurate dimming. You can via the bus system choose
exactly the dimmer level. In a bus system where twoway communication is supported it is possible to read
the status of for example, the current voltage and current, or error status such as short circuit or if no load is
connected.

Based on the popular LCC60 series LED-driver,
the WCM option (V-36060579WCM) adds wireless
control features based on the standard Bluetooth 4.0
protocol found in most modern smartphones and
tablets. With app support for the latest Android and
Apple’s iOS you can utilize any device to take full
control over all you luminaires.
Limitless range
By using MESH network technology you only need to
be within range (normally 100m) of any single control
gear to have control over all the luminaires in your
installation. Communication is automatically forwarded
between control gears to all other control gears within
its range. Because of the MESH technology you can
build large scale installations of thousands of lamps
and control them all from your smart phone.

Controlling
Simply 1) take a picture of the different lighting groups in your installation,
your living room, conference room etc., 2) then combine it with the app to tie
the scenarios and grouping via photo. You can now take control of the lighting

control on/off or dim etc.
Retractive switches for local control
Connect a retractive switch to any control gear for
local control over a single luminaire or a group of
luminaires. The switch’s behavior can be customized
through the app to fit any type of installation scenario.
Access control
The LED control gears are paired to a master device
first time they are used. The master device can then
optionally share access permissions with any number of devices either using a password or leaving the
network open for access by any device. The internal
communication of the network is protected by a strong
asymmetrical-key encryption scheme.
Two channel control gear and Color-Shift
The LCC60’s versatile capability of two independent
LED-drive channels providing up to 30W of power each

unique product. MCMP means in this context simplicity, ease of use and thus user satisfaction.
Controlling with DALI and DMX
All dimmable LED control gears for LED and dimmable
electronic ballasts with 0-10VDC or 1-10VDC can now
be controlled in a DALI or DMX environment, which
creates unique opportunities in combination with the
existing products on the market. MCMP currently supports DALI and DMX (and later KNX). MCMP regulates
common 0-10Vdc or 1-10Vdc dimmable devices such
as eg LED control gears and electronic ballasts.
With control input for push dimming
MCMP is equipped with a control input for push
dimming where you can connect a momentary push
button control.

MCMP is made in box shape and can easily be placed
in a junction box behind a push button.
Low standby consumption
The relay is of bistable type, which means that the relay
only draws power when the switch changes position
(on / off). This means that it doesn’t develop any heat
in the relay function.
CMP 0/1-10Vdc
Push-button control module 0/1-10Vdc is a new push button dimmer which
aims to facilitate dimming of dimmable electronic ballast, LED control gears and
electronic transformers with 1-10Vdc input. The unit is made in box shape and
can easily be placed in a junction box behind a push button.
Dimming without problems
If you choose a 0/1-10Vdc push dimmer and a 0/1-10-Vdc LED control gear or
electronic ballast they will work together smoothly regardless of the brand.
Functions
The Control Module Push regulates common 0-10Vdc or 1-10Vdc dimmable
units such as LED control gears and electronic ballasts. The ability to break the
phase is there so you can switch on/off the units that are dimmable with 110Vdc.
The control module is equipped with “regulation of minimum dimming level”
and “regulation of minimum dimming speed”.
Push dimming
Push dimming has several advantages in terms of quick and easy dimming.
A short press for on/off, a long press for dimming up/down. Push dimming is
also convenient for the user who wants to control the light level from several different locations in the room - several buttons can control the same dimmer.

You can easily provide a large group of eg LED control gears controlled by
1-10Vdc with quick and easy push dimming, which also can be dimmed from
multiple locations, unlike traditional 1-10Vdc dimmers in rotary dimmer execution.
Low stand-by consumption
The relay is of bistable type, which means that the relay only draws power when
the relay switches position (on/off). This means that it does not develop any heat
in the relay and the relay keeps its settings even after a power failure.
With memory function
MCMP retains its position even after a power failure.
Alternative possibilities
MCMP are also able to break the phase to turn off /
on the devices that are dimmable with 1-10Vdc. You
can then choose if the pushbutton for example should
guide 0/1-10Vdc regulation or any other device in the
system you want to control.

LED control gears and big loads
Sometimes you need to control bigger loads by a single
control than only one LED control gear can handle.
Depending on the type of LED control gear, there are
some different ways to solve this
Running multiple LED control gears with the same switch
Involves connecting the retractive switch to the control input of a LED control
gear and then connecting the control inputs of the LED control gears with standard installation cable. (See figure below.)
Cascading
2 pcs LED control gear LCC9 are serially connected on
the secondary side with the load. This enables that the
total power of LED in a single series loop to be doubled. For example, if a LED control gear handles max.
9W load (equivalent to for example to 7 pcs of 350mA
1.2W LED) two pieces can be serially connected giving
a total power of 18W, equivalent to eg 15 pcs of
350mA 1.2W LED in a loop. The control, whether it is
a momentary switch or a 1 -10Vdc control, is connected to the Master unit. The Master device is set to
the constant current the LED lights are rated for and
handles the constant current regulation of the light.
The slave unit is set at a constant voltage and helps as
a voltage boost circuit.
How to set up the LED control gear is shown in the
manual of the product.
The total power in a single series loop is limited by the maximum power of theLED control gear. The total power of a single control is limited by the number of
LED control gears that can be connected to a control and the maximum power
of the LED control gear. For example, if the LED control gear can handle max
30W it is 30W which is the limit of a loop of constant current LED. If you then
can connect 20 pieces of LED control gears to a retractive switch, the overall
power of a control- loop is 20 pcs x 30W giving a total of 600W.
Cascading only works in constant current dimming.
If the Master PWM regulates the current and you
then connect a slave who is set to constant voltage
out, there would be a conflict between them with an
undesirable result as a consequence. The reason that
you can not cascade connect 12 and 24Vdc constant
voltage is because 12 and 24Vdc is PWM controlled.
This means that you do not need any special sync cable
and regular installation cable can be used.

220-240 VAC
It is still perfectly possible to connect several retractive switches in parallel to
control the entire group of LED control gears from different places. After the
installation is completed, the system shall be synchronized the first time.
If you do not synchronize, there may be that some devices will shut down while
others switch on or dim uneven.
Synchronization is performed by the following procedure using the
retractive switch.
1. A long push (now, all LED control gear shall be lit).
2. A brief push (now, all LED control gear shall be off).
3. A long push until all LEDs are in their maximum position (the LED control gear
starts from min. position and goes up to max. if you hold the button down).
This means that you do not need any special sync cable and regular installation
cable can be used.
1 -10Vdc Control
Involves connecting a 1-10Vdc control module to the control input of the LED
control gear. All LED control gears will then get the same control signal from a
1-10Vdc control(dimmer).
The total power in a single series loop is limited by the maximum power of the
LED control gear. The total power of a single control is limited by the number of
LED control gears that can be connected to a control and the maximum power
of the LED control gear. For example, if the LED control gear can handle max
30W it is 30W which is the limit of a loop of constant current LED.
If you then can connect 20 pieces of LED control gears to a 1-10 Vdc dimmer,
the overall power of a control-loop is 20 pcs x 30W giving a total of 600W.

EDL-system, Easy DALI LED-control
About the EDL-system
Vadsbo’s EDL system consists of a number of components which - in a simple and user-friendly way can be used to build a system with the basic lighting
control functions of DALI for LED lighting without
using a PC.
The main components of the system is LED control
gear LCC60MCM which drives and dims the most
common LED types on the market and Multi Control
module MCMP which controls and regulates all 0 or
1-10V controlled devices such as eg LED drivers.
LCC60MCM and MCMP can then together with the
other control modules in the EDL system be controled by DALI using momentary switches, prespresence
detec­tion devices or by retractive switches that can
easily be programmed for different scenarios.
The simplicity of the EDL-system
Simplicity is one of the most important aspects when
Vadsbo are developing new products. DALI actuators
tend normally to be set and configured via a computer
interface. This means that you, from the start, don’t
have control of the address of a specific actuator nor
where it is located.
Individually adressable outputs
Vadsbo has provided both LED control gear LCC60MCM
and MultiControlModule MCMP with manual adjustment of both the address and the group.
The setting is made via 3 pcs of knobs. 1 for the group
(0-15) and 2 pieces for the address (0-63).
In the same way the control modules are manually set.
This means that the EDL system can be easily installed
and manually adjusted without having to use a computer with advanced software.

Each output will have its own address in a DALI or DMX system and can be
controlled individually. Address and group are easily set manually via three knobs
on the device.
LCC60MCM automatically detects if DALI signal or DMX signal is connected and
thus the same knob can be used for both DALI and DMX setting. If the DALI
signal is detected the knobs are used to set the DALI address and group, if DMX
signal is detected the same knobs are used to set the DMX address and group.
It goes without saying that the DALI address and group can be set by a computer
if desired.
MCMP Multi Control Module Push (V-40010DCMCMP)
MCMP is a box-actuator for DALI / DMX to 0-10 or 1-10V. Setting for 0-10 or
1-10V can be set directly on the device. You can also set the DALI commands
via a computer. Address and group is manually set via three knobs.
MCMP automatically detects if DALI signal or DMX signal is connected and thus
the same knob can be used for both DALI and DMX setting. If the DALI signal is
detected the knobs are used to set the DALI address and group, if DMX signal is
detected the same knobs are used to set the DMX address and group.
It goes without saying that the DALI address and group can be set by a computer
if desired.
This means that EDL is suitable for both the smaller and simpler system and the
bigger advanced system where you want to set and control everything via a
computer.

You will also get a precise control directly over where
each address is placed in the facility when you set it
directly on the device and you do not have to identify
this in retrospect. Of course, you can also address and
do the grouping with for example software from a PC.

motionDOT (V-40MODOT)
motionDOT is an interface between a regular presence
sensor or motion detector and DALI bus and can easily
be placed in an wall box.
The time delay is controlled by the motion detector. By
presence lighting is activated to 100% and by absence
lighting is set to a stand-by mode. Standby mode can
be adjusted from fully off to 75% brightness.
MotionDOT can be set to control a group of devices or
all devices on the DALI bus. Setting is done manually
with a knob.

pushDOT (V-42PUDOT)
pushDOT is an interface between a normal retractive
switch and the DALI bus. 4 switches can be connected
and each button get the function to dim up/down, or
on/off. pushDOT can be set to control up to 4 individual units, groups or all units on the DALI bus.
Setting is done manually via a knob on the backside.
switchDOT (V-40SWDOT)
switchDOT enables dimming up and down and provides an interface between a standard retractive switch
and DALI bus and can easily be placed in an appliance
box. For example, a double switch can be connected to
the control module and a button dims up or switches
on while the second button down dims or turns off.
switchDOT can be set to control an individual unit,
group of units or all devices on the DALI bus. Setting is
done manually with a knob.
sceneDOT (V-40SCDOT)
sceneDOT enables the function to store and recall up
to four scenarios (home, away, cleaning, etc.).
4 buttons can be connected to the module, one for
each scenario. For achieving optimum results using a
4-channel low voltage switch is recommended.
Scenarios are easily stored in each scenario button, by
holding the button down for about 10 seconds.
sceneDOT can easily be placed in an appliance box.
To memorize eg ”All off” function on key 1 first all
lighting groups are manually switched off with each
unit’s individual control.
When all lights are switched off key 1 is pressed for 10
seconds. Confirmation of stored scenario is displayed
by all lights flashing.
Setting of - if only a specific group or if all devices on
the bus must store scenarios - is done manually with a
knob. You can also set which memory position
(of 16 possible) each button corresponds to.

Lighting control Cruise ship M/S Balmoral
Vadsbos EDL-system is since December 2014 installed
on board a restaurant on the Cruise ship M/S Balmoral
belonging to Fred Olsen Cruise Line.
The project was to update the lighting in the restaurant “Morning light Pub and Bar”.
The updated lighting is divided in two groups, the
restaurant and the bar, as shown below. It consists of
56 pcs of the LED control gear LCC60MCM and three
pieces of sceneDOT linked to two control panels.
By the system architecture and programming for such projects it is of great
importance to control individual addresses in different levels as well as fading in/
out and can therefore be performed with PC programming / tools.
The installed EDL-system is dimmer flicker-free 0-100% which the end customer
is very satisfied with.
The installation was done by Naesco, Miami, Florida - USA December 2014.
The LED lighting was delivered by Lyngsaa AS, Frederikshavn, Denmark.

Universal LED-dimmers for wallbox installation
that starts at 1W
A common problem - when dimming LED lamps and
CFL lamps - is that conventional dimmers usually
require a high minimum load of 50W, 35W or 20W,
while low energy light lamps and LED lamps have a power range from 1W up to 20W. For dimming of these
low energy lamps dimmers that can operate from 1W
and up are required. Vadsbo’s series of universal push
dimmers starts already at 1 W for dimming of both
lowpower lamps as well as electronic transformers,
dimmable LED-drivers and incandescent lamps.
Adjustable minimum dimming level
Depending on the type of load that is connected to
the dimmer, the dimmer’s lowest dimming level can
be adjusted to fit the load in question. The dimming
characteristic is distinguished between different types
of loads. This feature is perfect for use when there is
mixed loads of different lamptypes including dimmable
halogen and incandescent lights. It is also very handy
if the user at some future date decides to switch from
incandescent to 230 VAC dimmable LEDs. Then you
need only adjust the lowest dimming level to the new
load, instead of buying a new dimmer.

A new concept in dimming of 12VAC LED
The combination of LD220 + ZERO, 0 Watt transformers - Du0TM generates a unique profile of the phase
angle control of 12 Vac LED lights.
The result is that 100% of 12Vac dimmable LED lights

already at 1W and the ZERO transformers, starting at
0W, provide the sufficiently low RMS voltage level.
