Leading the Family Business
Challenge
Introduction
Under the banner of ‘Leading the Family Business’, the Chair of Family Business at the
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is on the lookout for corporate challenges
from your traditional family-run company. The 60-day long program will start in January
2017.
Objectives
Interdisciplinary teams consisting of five students from the Master in Management Program will spend 60
days working on your challenges, exploring new ideas and trends on your behalf, and developing
pioneering approaches. Apart from the core program, the students will receive an introduction to project
management and benefit from various coaching sessions taught by the Director of the Chair of Family
Business, who has several years’ experience in advising international companies and strategic consulting.

Solutions and consulting are expressly geared to the needs of family companies.

The Master in Management Program
The Master in Management Program at WHU, which has a strong focus on research and practical aspects
and is taught in an international setting, is one of the top-rated master programs. It is open to highly

areas of business administration and to develop their management skills.

Project Outline
1.
Please submit your challenge(s) by 31st October 2016 through TELANTO’s Academic Business
Network.
2.
If your family company wins the Chair`s selection process, your challenges will be made available
to the students and teams will be formed. There is a fee for the family company whose
challenge(s) is (are) selected.
3.
After the student team has been put together, you will be invited to an official kick-off event at the
WHU campus at the beginning of January 2017 and the solution process begins.
4.
During the solution phase, you will be given the unique opportunity to collaborate with & monitor
your team of 5 students virtually on TELANTO’s collaboration space. In addition, the students are
expected to pay an official visit to your company.
5.
The solution to your challenge will be presented to you at the end of the project term in the form
of a final report and a final presentation.
