CLOSED SYSTEM Easy-to-Carry Magnetic Toll Ticket (or IC Card) Highly Accurate Automatic Vehicle Detection On-Line System The toll ticket is a small, easy-to-carry magnetic card containing information in a high-density format. High magnetic coercive force prevents the data on the ticket from being counterfeited or modified. The Automatic Vehicle Detection System consists of a highly accurate optical vehicle separator incorporating optical sensors and a durable treadle which detects the number of vehicle axles and class of the vehicles. On-line connections among system components allow toll collection data to be displayed and/or printed out in real time. Information can be simultaneously displayed at the Toll Plaza Office as well as remote locations such as the Operations Office. This on-line capability permits total integration of the system's administration and management. IC CARD Outstanding Reliability and Durability IC CARD Mitsubishi's high level of production and design expertise, the fruits of our successful 50-year track record, is reflected in exceptional quality, reliability, and durability of each device. Printer Easy Operation Traffic light The toll terminal is operated interactively through a large liquid crystal display. Resupplying the terminal with magnetic tickets and receipt printer paper rolls is simple and can easily be done by the toll collector. The upper area is for trucks and buses while the lower area is for passenger vehicles. Both coins and paper money are accepted, and change is given automatically. Pre-paid cards and coupon tickets can also be used. Receipts are issued by simply pushing a button. Collection area for trucks and buses The operating status of the system can always be monitored at the supervisor's console located in the Toll Plaza Office. The supervisor can communicate with a driver through an intercom on the Automatic Toll Collection Machine. Drivers can also contact the supervisor whenever necessary. The supervisor will be alerted by warning lamps on the console when change or paper for receipts runs low. Toll and payment display IC card insertion slot Highly Accurate Vehicle Classification Coin pocket The Automatic Vehicle Classification System consists of advanced vehicle number plate recognition software, an optical vehicle separator, an axle and dual wheel detector, a vehicle length detector, and an overhang detector. The amount of toll to be paid is automatically indicated on the easy-to-read toll display. The human factor design helps prevent operational errors by collectors. Convenient non-cash processing (coupon tickets, IC cards) is possible. Using advanced technology, the Mitsubishi Toll Pass System optimizes toll collection, aids in traffic jam management, and provides vital information for current and future road usage management. Some of features include: High Speed and Short Range RF Communication Easy-to-Operate Receipt Printer ●Over 1.0 MBPS transmission speed The Receipt Printer features high-speed printing and easy feeding of paper rolls. High Reliable Data Communication ●Optimum combination of automatic repeat request and forward error correction Processing of Up To Ten Vehicle Classes High Security A maximum of ten vehicle classifications can be processed. ●Encryption and Cross Authentication Multi Lane Operation ●Time domain multi access/Frequency domain multi access implementation Multi In-Vehicle Unit Operation ●Time slot in-protocol implementation for motorcycles Traffic light for car / light goods vehicles Toll plaza office Toll terminal (data entry machine) for taxis 1 Cluttered configuration for heavy goods vehicles / small buses Central data processor Toll Pass System, which utilizes a sophisticated combination of radio frequency, optical detection, imaging and smart card technologies, is capable of handling multiple vehicles travelling at speeds faster than 120 km/h. At that speed, a vehicle spends less than 0.4 second under the gantries. Within that fraction of a second, the system is able to communicate with the in-vehicle unit, identify the type of vehicle, deduct charges and if a violation occurs, freeze the rear image of the vehicle. This process goes on continuously in a free-flowing, multi-lane and multi-situational traffic condition. It has been successfully tested with difficult vehicle combinations such as 2 Vehicles crossing paths or changing lanes under the gantries for very heavy goods vehicles / large buses In-Vehicle Unit for emergency vehicles 3 Very close consecutive passings 4 Motorcycle between two large vehicles 5 Very close parallel passings Receipt printer First antenna Toll terminal Traffic light Enforcement camera Vehicle presence detector Second antenna Optical traffic detector to Central computer Toll indecator Treadle Manned lane 3 1 4 Centralized Data Processor A variety of data, such as revenue work shifts and traffic statistics, can be processed for efficient toll plaza management.
