SECOND CHANCE® STRUCTURED FEMALE SIZING INSTRUCTIONS 81 SCA STRUCTURED FEMALE SIZING INSTRUCTIONS | REVISED 091412 SECOND CHANCE ™ STRUCTURED FEMALE SIZING INSTRUCTIONS BODY ARMOR PRIOR TO SIZING: UÊ Prior to going to the agency, make sure that all personnel being sized will be in their normal duty uniform inclusive of their uniform shirt, uniform pants, complete duty belt with equipment loaded in all holsters and holders, and of course the appropriate undergarments. For females, this will include the type of bra they prefer to wear on duty. UÊ Have the officer REMOVE all notepads, pens, microphones, etc., from all their pockets prior to sizing. UÊ To ensure the most comfortable fit, it is a good practice to discuss typical stances and/or positions the officer may find herself in most often while on duty, such as driving, kneeling, squatting and/or sitting. UÊ Height and weight are also extremely important factors when it comes to sizing. These measurements provide a good way of verifying that correct measurements were taken while sizing. UÊ Make arrangements with the agency point of contact to have a designated area that provides female officers with an appropriate level of privacy while sizing them. If you are a male sizing a female, ask the agency to have another female present when possible to assist you if needed. Also, ensure the female officer you are sizing is comfortable with you taking the measurements prior to starting. TOOLS YOU NEED: UÊ CAM (Center Apex Measurement) Sizing Tool UÊ Soft measuring tape UÊ A flexible ruler UÊ An armless chair UÊ Appropriate sizing forms WHILE SIZING: UÊ Speak with the officer to determine their main concerns (i.e. fit, comfort, coverage or side closure). Make sure these concerns are within the agency’s guidelines. Be sure to engage them in the process, making them feel comfortable to speak freely about their concerns. This will make for a much more satisfactory fit. Communication is key. UÊ If you are sizing an officer for a replacement vest, ask the officer what they liked or disliked about that particular vest. If they have their old vest with them, ask the officer to put it on so that you can give your professional guidance to achieve a better fit with the sizing of the new vest. UÊ Take this opportunity to discuss the vest they will be receiving and its features and benefits. AFTER SIZING: UÊ Be sure to review the contents of the package that will come with their vest (i.e. Product Guide, Strap Kit, etc.). UÊ Demonstrate how to assemble and put on their new vest. Ensure they understand the internal suspension system and how to insert their Soft Trauma Plate (if applicable). UÊ Remind them to complete the warranty card and send it into the address as instructed. 800.733.3832 AmericanBodyArmor.com | SecondChance.com SECOND CHANCE® STRUCTURED FEMALE SIZING INSTRUCTIONS 82 MEASURING BY SOFT TAPE UÊ When using a cloth or soft measuring tape, DO NOT pull the tape too tight. A tape that is pulled too tight can significantly alter measurements. UÊ Take ALL measurements to the nearest full inch. If rounding is necessary, round UP on Girth and round DOWN on length. All rounding needs to be done based on the officer’s individual needs. THE FOLLOWING MEASUREMENTS SHOULD BE TAKEN STANDING FULL CHEST MEASUREMENT STEP 1 RECORD OFFICER’S INFORMATION Record the officer’s information including height, weight, and bra cup size on the appropriate sizing form. STEP 2 FULL CHEST MEASUREMENT Position the CAM Sizing Tool around the officer’s full chest area, make sure to have them position this on the center of the chest/bust area.
