Transfer Learning Environment and Academic Research Network
What is T-L.E.A.R.N. at UCF?
T-L.E.A.R.N. is a program established for transfer students at UCF that focuses on the academic success of
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students. By working with on-campus partners,
T-L.E.A.R.N. provides a select group of 20 transfer students with an inquiry-based and hands-on educational
experience through learning about and conducting research. Accepted students will receive a $500
scholarship in the fall and an additional $1,500 scholarship in the spring if a research position has been
secured. All T-L.E.A.R.N. students receive priority registration.
Specifically, students will participate in the following:
Introduction to Research I and II courses in the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. These are one-credit
courses and the cost of the courses is waived for all T-L.E.A.R.N. participants.
Opportunity to conduct research with a UCF faculty mentor in the spring semester.
Academic, social, and community service programming.
Who can apply to T-L.E.A.R.N. at UCF?
Applicants must be matriculating to UCF in the summer or fall of 2016 with their Associate of Arts (A.A.)
degree and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
All students planning to major in the following disciplines are invited to apply:
All engineering and computer science majors
Science (biology, chemistry, medicine, math, physics, forensic science, and statistics)
Optics and photonics
Why should I apply to T-L.E.A.R.N. at UCF?
In this program, you will:
LEARN from faculty and peers within your learning community. We understand that coming to the
second largest university in the nation can be daunting as a new student. We therefore strive to provide
opportunities for our T-L.E.A.R.N. students to build one-on-one relationships with faculty, staff, and other
students on campus.
Study in an ENVIRONMENT that supports your ACADEMIC success.
Gain hands-on RESEARCH experience. In addition to completing the Introduction to Research I and II
course sequence, T-L.E.A.R.N. students will have the opportunity to work with faculty on research
projects.
Build a NETWORK of friends. T-L.E.A.R.N. students will participate in academic, social, and community
service activities through UCF-sponsored events to build and strengthen their network of peers.
How can I apply?
Priority deadlines are April 8th and July 1st. There are two steps to applying for the T-L.E.A.R.N. program:

2.) You will also need to submit your current, unofficial transcripts AND your updated, one-page resume to
