Spelling tests
The 20 spelling tests on Doddle are based on the National Curriculum
KS2 Spelling Appendix 1 word list for years 3-4 and years 5-6. All tests
with the title ‘Spelling test 1.x’ cover years 3-4 words and all tests with
the title ‘Spelling test 2.x’ cover years 5-6 words. The tests cover 200
words.
Each test is scored out of 10
marks and covers 10 words.
The format for each test
increases in difficulty as it
progresses, beginning with
multiple choice questions,
followed by typing missing
letters from a word and then
finally typing out the whole
word.
The spelling tests do not have recap slides. The tests have no indication
of their level on student login, so although based on KS2 word lists,
these tests are also likely to be useful for KS3 and KS4.
We have included the words covered in each of our tests on the
following pages, which you may wish to use in conjunction with setting
the tests or for your own reference.
