Fulton & Jones Pty. Limited commenced business operations in February 1981
manufacturing and supplying Underground Power Products, Aerial Connectors,
Underground Pits, Flexible Copper Braids, Substation Fittings, Rising Main Connectors,
as well as Kits for Underground Power Connection for the Electricity Supply Industry
both Nationally and Internationally.
This Catalogue covers a range of products we manufacture. We also manufacture to
individual requirements as requested.
Australian Earthing Electrodes Pty. Limited commenced business operations in 1986
manufacturing and supplying Earthing Rods (Stainless Steel Clad, Copper Clad, Solid
Stainless Steel and Solid Copper), in a range of sizes as well as Earth Rod Clamps,
Coupling Systems, Points, Driving Tools and Lightning Protection Equipment.
Both companies amalgamated into one in March 2004 becoming Fulton Industries
Australia Pty. Limited. This company will continue the policy ensuring production and
supply of quality goods at competitive prices continuing the good reputation within the
Electricity Supply Industry.
The standards of workmanship are high for the supply of quality Australian made
product and our continuing endeavours aim to provide excellent service with a readily
available line of communication with our Customers, Production, Technical and Sales
Personnel.
With rapidly changing technology, product specifications in this Catalogue may be
subject to change without notice and whilst every effort has been made to ensure
accuracy of information, no responsibility can be accepted resulting from errors or
omissions.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE
Fulton Industries Australia Pty. Ltd. is referred to in these Terms and Conditions of Sale
as the
“Company”. Those placing an order in original, faxed or emailed form on the “Company”,
are referred to as the “Customer”. Orders to be in writing and signed by the “Customer”.
Orders accepted shall be subject to these terms and conditions of sale.
All prices quoted are NET prices excluding GST and are FOB West Gosford NSW 2250
unless quoted otherwise. Prices for products normally shown in the Fulton Industries
Australia Pty. Ltd.
Catalogue may be subject to alteration without prior notice and goods will be charged at
the price ruling at the date of despatch.
Every effort will be made to deliver the goods by the dates estimated in a Quotation or
verbally however no guarantee of delivery by a specified date is made by the “Company”.
The “Company” shall not be liable for any delay in delivery howsoever caused.
The “Company” does not guarantee the suitability of goods supplied for any particular
purpose
other than specified by the “company”. When the “Customer” is ordering goods from the
“Company”, it is the responsibility of the “Customer” to ensure that the goods ordered are
correct/suitable for the “Customer’s” needs and requirements. The “Company” takes no
responsibility for products that have been modified or damaged by misuse or negligence
in use or in storage by the “Customer”.
Physical dimensions obtained by or supplied by the “Company” must be accepted as
correct by the “Customer” prior to commencement of manufacture. Acceptance of
dimensions must be shown by the signature of an authorised representative of the
“Customer” on the Drawings or Sketch relating to the product and all such drawings or
sketches remain the intellectual property of the “Company”
and become registered designs of the “Company”.
Any product which is not a standard stock item of the “Company” and is manufactured to
a “Customer” specification will not be accepted as a return for credit and no responsibility
is taken
by the “Company” as to its suitability for any application.
When ordering Pits, please ensure that the order is for the correct size and type and that
the pit is suitable for the application. No returns accepted for incorrectly ordered pits.

Property in the products shall pass from the “Company” to the “Customer” when the
contract price and all other monies payable under the contract have been paid in full.
Risk of any loss, damage or deterioration of or to the products shall be borne by the
“Customer” from the date of delivery of the products. For as long as the property in any of
the products is retained by the “Company”, the “Customer” will, if so required by the
“Company”, store separately these products in respect of which property is retained by
the “Company” and clearly identify such goods as the property of the “Company”.
No claim recognized or return accepted without prior approval by the “Company”. Delivery
Docket Number must be quoted and returns made by approved carrier within seven (7)
days from receipt of goods. Approved returns will attract a 15% restocking fee and the
cost of the return to be borne by the “Customer”. Return Goods Authority must
accompany all returns.
Terms of Payment:
Without Account - Prior to despatch by Cheque, EFT, Mastercard or Visa.
With Account
- Strictly thirty (30) days from the end of the Month in which the order is
supplied.
A 2% surcharge will apply to all Mastercard or Visa Payments made by Account
Customers.
Account Customers:
Any orders placed with a total value in any one month over AU$25,000 will require a 20%
deposit
minimum prior to the commencement of any manufacture or supply, with payment for the
balance 30 days from the end of the month in which the goods are supplied.
Any account exceeding trading terms will automatically be placed on “Stop Credit” and
account
suspended reverting to a “non account customer” status until Account is brought up to
date and
evidence of adherence to our Terms of Payment is maintained. Failure to adhere to our
Terms of
Payment will result in Account Closure.

The Pillar and Base are Fire Retardant and UV stabilized and constructed from a high impact
fibreglass material to enhance strength. The 12mm vent holes have stainless steel insect
proof gauze moulded on the inside to stop wasps and bees entering.
The base is constructed from fibreglass, reducing breakage in transit. The vertical back on
the base allows for close installation of the pillar (base to a wall in restricted pedestrian
areas).
The frame is made from UniStrut which allows the panel to be adjusted from front to back for
varying switch and fuse depths. Panels supplied blank unless quoted to include accessories.
The Panel is capable of fitting 2 x 400Amp Fuse Disconnectors side by side. Pillar and Base
Approved for use on Essential (Country) Energy Network.

The Fibreglass Pillar – FPB3CD was primarily designed to be equipped with Vertical Fuse
Disconnectors and able to distribute loads of up to 2500 Amperes (shown in photo above). The
Extended Base allows for larger bending radius of cables, hence reducing the stress on the cable
and making termination of cables onto busbars or Fuse Disconnector etc, easier. The Pillar itself
has a removable door with two (2) Nightlatches and a Removable Front Panel, secured with six
(6) Allen Head Set Screws. The base has a 10mm Thick Aluminium Chequered Plate

accessories. Busbars can be mounted to insulating bracket to allow for the mounting of strip fuses,
will accommodate 5 strip fuse units 100mm wide. Neutral Bar also provided with 12mm diameter
drilled holes. Hardware can be provided upon request. Frame for the panel is galvanized and all
hardware is stainless steel. Pillars are made to order. Nightlatches are provided for the pillar with
lift off door, hinged door pillar has 3-way locking mechanism. Pillar depth can be increased in
increments of 290mm for use as an “on site” plinth pour. Pillar mounting bolts located inside pillar.

The above Cabinets are made to order and can be provided with Unistrut frames fitted with
stainless steel plates and earth bars for 2-way and 3-way High Voltage junctions. Low Voltage
units supplied with Type X Switch Panel mounted onto a Unistrut frame. Pillars have a standard
IP rating of IP34 and can be made to an IP rating of IP55 upon request. Please consult factory
for details. Base Flange are 100mm Wide to aid in stability in soil and an internal flange can be
supplied when bolting to a concrete pad.

Manufactured from high conductivity Aluminium. Grooves in the main body ensure good
electrical contact when the shear bolts are tensioned to their breaking capacity. Pressure
Pads are grooved and are attached to the shear bolt to ensure they are not lost. Dropper
wires are provided if required, from connection points in three (3) places around the main
body for service take-offs to feed consumer supply.
The PVC No. 4 Shroud has been designed to fit the Mains Connector to ensure insulation
between the cable phases. Holes are provided in the Shroud to allow cable ties to hold the
Shroud captive on the connector. (Heatshrink Shrouds are also available).

1. Switch Panel Assembly kit (including Switch) is available on Stockcode 180182 (or direct
from Fulton Industries Australia) and shall be constructed in accordance with the installation
instructions (EA_OPSP400/1) supplied in kit.
2. Only one service active is to be connected per hole in the service terminal block except
when connecting a single phase street light service.
3. The maximum number of 100amp three phase services allowed in the switch pillar is two.

WHICH ACCESS COVER OR GRATE IS RIGHT FOR YOUR JOB
There is some confusion in the marketplace about selection of appropriate Access Covers and
Grates for particular applications.
It should be noted that there is an Australian Standard (AS3996- 2006) for Access Covers and
Grates. The appropriate class for a cover or grate depends upon the place of installation. Some
places of installation, relative to class, are outlined in the table below.
The selection of the appropriate class is the responsibility of the contractor or purchaser of
requested items, if there is any doubt on the typical loads applied to the access covers or grates, a
stronger class should be selected.
Please refer to the table below for load classifications, which is taken from AS3996-2006.

Pits and Risers are manufactured from polyethylene to 7mm wall thickness
*When using these pits in trafficable area, pits must be installed with a concrete collar to fully support the top of the
pit. This collar should be a minimum 150mm x 150mm around the top perimeter of the pit. A support brace is
available, and when fixed as per instructions, will prevent deformation of the pit during backfill procedures. The
support brace can be removed after installation is completed. Consult Appendix A for Installation Instructions.

The Roller has a single cast Aluminium Wheel 100mm wide
fitted with bearings. The wheel is Heat Treated to provide a
tough surface hardness when stringing steel. Frame is Zinc
plated. A Stainless Steel removable pin at the top prevents
uplift of Conductor when stringing.

alternative to steel shaft. A nylon gate is provided to prevent uplift of conductors during stringing.
When stringing long spans of conductor, 2 horizontal rollers on the incoming side can be
provided to prevent damage to the conductor - The angle of the rollers is approximately 18°.

Running Out Roller

The running out roller for installing insulated
cable and consists of a plastic roller, a steel loop
and a swiveling suspension hook.
The plastic roller is shaped to avoid any damage
to the conductor bundle during running out.
Maximum rated tension 15kN with safety hook.

Roller Suspension Clamps
*Designed for 4x95 and 4x150 Aerial Bundled Conductor.
The big advantage of this product is that it can be used as a
mounting roller and suspension clamp.
During the running out of the cable the unit is used as a mounting
roller, the cable is clamped moving the clamping lever and the unit
becomes a suspension clamp.
The suspension clamp with roller consists of strap, roller, pressure
plates and a quick locking lever.
The roller is fitted with a special rubber insert and designed so that
the conductor cannot jam when being used as a suspension
clamp.
Should any further adjustment to the conductor be required the
clamping lever can be released and the unit reverts back to a
running out roller. Because of the easy handling of the clamp,
without the need for tools,
a considerable amount of time can be saved during installation.

POST INSULATOR BRACKET ROLLER
Used in conjunction with the “Post Insulator Bracket” PIB-1, it provides a suitable means of
stringing CCT conductor to be attached to porcelain or polymer insulators. The roller is equipped
with 2 rollers supported by bearings which allows for ease whilst stringing. The gate has a spring
loaded shaft to assist when opening and closing.

POST INSULATOR BRACKET
Fabricated from Aluminium to allow ease of installation. The bracket can be supplied in 2 styles,
to suit porcelain insulators and polymer insulators. The bracket is dedicated to suit 90o and 45o
angles and the one bracket can be altered to carry out both operations by moving pins to marked
holes.
The 90o Bracket is tested to a SAFE WORKING LOAD 1.42kN. (Test Report available upon request)

Cast Aluminium Trefoil Cable Clamps
Cast Aluminium Trefoil Clamps are designed for strength and
ease of installation and provide tested bursting strength cable
fixing at economic prices. Features of widely specified 54
series include:
1. Cables can be laid directly onto fixed bases - reducing
cable installation time.
2. Simple clamping with bolts which fit into side slots in
base and top.
3. Manufactured from silicon aluminium alloy AC601
which combines high strength, ductility and outstanding
corrosion resistance. Also available in manganese
bronze.
4. Designed and tested for high bursting strength ranging
to over 20kN. Test reports available upon request.
5. Cable diameters outside those shown below can be

6. Neoprene inserts - designated NI after the clamp

Copper tube to flat. Type CTF tube connectors provide an economical means of terminating
tubular busbar. They also combine with flexible braid connections to make expansion joint

Bentonite and Gypsum mixture to be used in Earthing Installation only and not to be used for any
other purpose.
PACKAGE SIZE: 15kg
A 15kg Bag covers approximately 0.03 m3
Mixing: Add clean water gradually to mixture and mix slowly until a pourable slurry is achieved.
Normal Mixture: Soil, Clay, Shale, Sandstone, Ironstone – 1 litre Water to 0.5kg GOOD EARTH
Medium Mixture: Saturated (Clay, Shale, Sandstone) Sand – 1 litre Water to 0.8kg GOOD EARTH
Strong Mixture: Gravel or holes with excessive seepage or filled with water –
1 litre Water to 1kg GOOD EARTH
Use mixture within twenty minutes of mixing
Material Safety Data Sheet for Bentonite and Gypsum stipulates the use of Safety
Glasses with side shield or Chemical Goggles, (no contact lenses), SAA approved Dust
Respirator, Protective Gloves, Safety Footwear and Overalls, when mixing/using Bentonite
and Gypsum.
Disposal: Bury residue in an authorized landfill.
Storage: Keep dry and store in well ventilated area in woven plastic bags. Stacked to prevent sliding
or collapse.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS “E” SERIES POLYETHYLENE PITS

Place pit in excavated hole – rim of pit to be at final surface level.
Measure and mark position for pipe (or channel) location to pit.
Remove pit from hole – cut when required for pipe (or channel) location.
Place pit in excavated hole as in (1) above, fit pipes (or channel) into pit wall and seal
Fit precut brace at right angles (refer diagram above) firmly into pit above lowest inner ledge of pit.
NOTE: It may be necessary to place temporary packing pieces at brace tips where pipe holes have
been cut in pit wall.
Fit cover to pit
Backfill around pit (even fill around pit perimeter is preferred).
For trafficable installations fix suitable expansion joint material to top vertical flange of pit, then pour
concrete collar to depth of 150mm (or greater if required). Concrete should be minimum 150mm wide
(as well as depth) if being used as a collar for bitumen driveways or other situations other than full
concrete driveway. NOTE: Always leave cover insitu during backfilling and concreting.
Remove bit braces only after installation is complete and all backfilling and/or concreting is completed
and set.
