QSWITCHING BUCK REGULATOR
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The FP6111 is a buck IC of switching regulator for wide operating voltage application fields.
The FP6111 includes a high current P-MOSFET; high precision reference (0.8V) for comparing
output voltage with a feedback amplifier, an internal dead-time controller and soft start time.
The oscillator is for controlling the maximum duty cycle and PWM frequency.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Voltage reference
A 2.5V reference regulator supplies FP6111 internal circuits and uses the resistive dividers to provide a
0.8V precision reference voltage on the non-inverting terminal of error amplifier.
Error amplifier
The error amplifier compares a sample of the dc-dc converter output voltage to the 0.8V(Vref) reference
and generates an error signal for the PWM comparator. Output voltage of dc-dc converter is setting with
the resistor divider using the following expression (see fig 1):

Oscillator
The fixed frequency generates from an internal RC oscillator, and the typical values are 320KHz and
30KHz.

Thermal Protection
The thermal protection is functional due to a heavy loading drop and junction temperature achieve 150
℃, then FP6111 output turn off. When junction temperature is lower than 150 ℃, FP6111 starts again
and power switch turns on.
Over Current Protection
The FP6111 uses cycle-by-cycle current limit to protect the internal power switch. During each
switching cycle, a current limit comparator detects if the power switch current exceeds the internal
setting current, and begins over current protection decrease the oscillator frequency to prevent thermal
issue.
