SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS
Dirtbike Action Ltd., a recognised ACU Promoter, will promote a National All Terrain Rally for
solo motorcycles to be held under the ACU All Terrain Rally Regulations, the National
Sporting Code of the ACU, the following Supplementary Regulations and any Final
Instructions which may be issued.
The Event: is specifically designed to be suitable for Big Trail & Rally Bikes. The event is also
open to Two Stroke and Four Stroke Trail & Offroad Sports Bikes including Classic Enduro
Bikes. The result of the event will be decided over a number of Special Stages which will be
timed to the nearest second. There will be several laps over 3 different courses and in 2
different forests, made up of tracks, fire roads and liaison sections of public road with
stunning moorland views.

Eligibility:
All riders must be over 16 years of age, have membership of an ACU Club and hold a current
ACU or SACU Competition Licence. (Membership of Rally Moto UK Club is available @ £5.)
Any overseas riders, including participants from the Republic of Ireland, must produce a
licence issued by their FMN, a Start Permission letter confirming they are licensed and have
personal accident insurance. Proof of Club membership and competition licence will be
required at Signing On. Any overseas rider who is not in possession of repatriation
insurance must take out an additional ACU Insurance to cover these costs.
One Event Licences, if required, cost £10. This must be paid in advance, alongside the entry
fee. Entry fees will only be refunded (less 10% admin charge) in the event of cancellation of
the event or on production of a valid medical certificate at least 7 days before the
commencement of the meeting.
Public roads will be used as part of the course and riders must ensure that they and their
machines comply with all legal requirements including RTA Insurance. Please check that
your current insurance is valid. One event RTA Insurance is available for those who need it.
Signing On:
Riders must sign on first, before presenting their machines for examination from 12 noon to
5.00pm on the15th of August. Any rider who is unable to sign on at this time must make
alternative arrangements with the organisers in advance.
Machine Examination:
Riders must present their machines & helmets for examination on 16th August between the
hours of time 8am - 10am. Any rider who is unable to present their machine at this time
must make alternative arrangements with the organisers in advance.
Noise Control:
This event is being held on the public highway and in Forestry Commission land, and it is
essential that riders demonstrate that they are professional and considerate users of the
area. Machines will randomly be tested as per ACU Control of Exhaust Noise Regulations.
Any machines appearing to have modified or aftermarket silencers will automatically be
tested. All machines must have the bore & stroke clearly marked on the crank case.
Tyres:
Both front and rear must be "Enduro" type to current FIM specifications or a commercially
available tyre. Tyres must have an E Mark and/or DOT (American Department of
Transportation) approval and the Dot number must be moulded on the tyre wall.
Motorcross tyres are specifically forbidden as are tyres marked NHU.
Clothing:
Helmets must have a current ACU Gold or Silver stamp. Motorcross type boots, gloves and
suitable protective clothing must be worn. Enduro type jackets are strongly recommended.
Please be aware that tear off type goggle lenses are no longer permitted.
Security:
Competitors must be aware that security of their vehicles and property is their own
responsibility at all times. There will be no Parc Ferme provided.
Powerwashers:
The use of power washers is strictly forbidden in all service and parking areas.
Forest access:
Please note that only signed on competitors, officials and marshals will be allowed on the
course. No support riders will be permitted.
Please be aware that members of the general public including horse riders, cyclists and
children will have access to the forests during the event.
Rider numbers:
Riders numbers will be issued by the organisers at signing on. Please make sure they are
visible at all times.

Trail Bike Class: Machines must be manufacturer's listed, standard trail machines.
Rally Lite Bike Class: May be modified Trail Bikes or fully road legal Enduro Bikes (2 stroke or 4 stroke). Modified
motorcross bikes are not permitted in this class.
Additional classes:
Twin shock (up to 1985)including early cantilever
Twin shocks and drum brakes - any modifications must be in
the spirit of the era.
Evo Enduro Bikes (up to & inc 1989)
All bikes with rising rate suspension.

The Course:
Full details of the course will be announced in the Final Instructions. It is expected that each
day's mileage including road liaison sections will be approximately:
Day 1 ~ 120 miles
Day 2 ~ 240 miles (145 for "Additional Classes")
Day 3 ~ 90 miles
There will be at least 1 timed Special Test per day. In order to comply with Forestry
Commission regulations, the times set for all stages within the forests will not exceed an
average speed limit of 25mph. Late penalties will not be applied until a rider is 30 minutes
late, at which point, the rider will be deemed to have retired. There will be no penalty for
being early at any point although you will not be permitted to start the next section until
your due time. The course will be marked with dayglo arrows and some taped areas. Any
areas marked with BLUE tape will have a compulsory speed limit of 5 mph. Penalty for
exceeding this limit will be disqualification from the event. Please also take note of any
other signs and warnings and follow instructions of Marshals at all times. Designated refuelling areas will be specified in the Final Instructions. Competitors are reminded that they
must provide a fire extinguisher and an environmental mat.
The Start:
The Start will take place from The Devonshire Walk Car Park, adjacent to Carlisle Castle.
Riders will leave each day at a rate of 2 per minute. Details of precise start times will be
included in Final Instructions.
Accommodation and Camping:
Camping will be available adjacent to the Start area. There will be portable toilets and a
water supply but no showers available.
Refreshments - A catering van with a full range of hot and cold snacks will be available at the
Start area each day from 07.00 hrs.

RTA Insurance:
Lockton Motor Sports Road Traffic Scheme
The organisers have applied to Lockton for a Blanket Cover Note under the above scheme.
This will provide Competitors who need to use the scheme with the Third party Cover
necessary to meet RTA requirements on the Road Sections of the Event.
The basic rate for the Event (before any Loadings) will be £15.75.
All new applicants wishing to use the Scheme must be able to comply with all points of the
Lockton Declaration:
• Over 21 & held a Full Licence for at least 6 months
• Not more than 1 fault accident in last 3 years
• No more than maximum of 6 speeding points on licence
• No physical or mental disabilities
• No material facts
If able to comply with all points above simply sign on Signing On Form for Insurance - No
Letter will be Issued.
If unable to comply with any of the above points, make direct contact with Locktons prior to
the Event to allow sufficient time for Letter of Acceptance to be issued. Faxed copies are
acceptable.

Acknowledgement of the risks of motorsport:

or suffering some other serious injury and I acknowledge that even in the event that negligence on the part of
the ACU/SACU, the promoter, the organising club, the venue owner, or any individual carrying out duties on
their behalf were to be a contributory cause of any serious injury I may suffer, the dominant cause of any
serious injury will always be my / our voluntary decision to take part in a high risk activity.
