The proposed Ruakura Development Plan Change is a private plan change request to the operative Hamilton City District Plan and will allow for the future development of the Ruakura area to include: l a transport hub (inland port) and logistics area; l an industrial park area; l a knowledge area incorporating a suburban centre; l a medium-density housing area; l a general residential area; and l an integrated network of green space. Under the operative Hamilton City District Plan urban activities, including industrial development, subdivision and roads, are currently prohibited activities. The proposed Ruakura Development Plan Change seeks to remove the prohibited status and introduces a set of provisions to enable these activities and provide for associated infrastructure and subdivision. This Submission Form includes guidance to help you complete it. The Port of Tauranga also operates a number of subsidiaries, including Tapper Transport, MetroBox, MetroPack, Quality Marshalling and has a 50% shareholding in NorthPort and PrimePort Timaru. Land holdings comprise 189 hectares, including 2,825 metres of linear quayside with backup land for marshalling import/export cargo, plus a separate specialised tanker berth for bulk liquids and cement. The aggregation of cargo at inland ports, such as that proposed for Ruakura is viewed favourably by the Port. As such, the Port of Tauranga Limited supports the Ruakura Development Plan Change proposed by Tainui Group Holdings Limited.
