Electronic files are accepted as an alternative to posted or courier-sent hard copy DVDs. Candidates are invited to follow both procedures, if they wish, as a safe guard. Recordings (hardcopy and electronic) will only be accepted with the following conditions: Content to be exactly as per requirements and set list of orchestral excerpts. Please note that failure to adhere to the requirements may result in disqualification. Please consult with the General Manager if you have any concerns. Studio-quality recording. Candidates are advised to check the playback quality of their DVD before sending! Recording Engineer to confirm in writing that the recording is unedited and referee to affirm that the recording is a true and honest representation of the candidate’s audition. The audition should be recorded as no more than two continuous takes, being one take for the concerto material and one take for the excerpts. Each item on the DVD should be formatted post-recording as a separate track for easy access. A track list should be included. Recordings must arrive by the specified dates and times, taking into account that NZ time is GMT + 12. Orchestra Wellington will not take responsibility for late or lost material. Physical DVDs must be in a standard PAL format. Material sent electronically must follow specified formatting and adhere to Orchestra Wellington guidelines for sending electronic files (Orchestra Wellington guidelines on sending electronic files for auditions are available from the General Manager). Trial Periods Orchestra Wellington may select two or more candidates from the audition pool for a short Candidate Trial Period before the final selection is made. Orchestra Wellington will provide any such candidates with transport and accommodation necessary to complete the trial, as well as a suitable fee and per diems during the engagement. Consideration for Casual/Extra Work At the conclusion of the audition, selected panel members will discuss the suitability for casual/extra work of any unsuccessful candidates who have opted to be considered. If candidates opt to be considered for casual work, they must be aware that in doing so, they are giving permission for their identity to be revealed to selected panel members.
