In the month before Christmas, listen out for hints. It helps to know exactly what the person likes. During the holiday season, what treats do you indulge in? Cookie Time cookie buckets… What exciting things or new products can we expect from The Coffee Club in the build up to Christmas? We are open 8am - 9pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You have to try our crisp pizzas they are yummy! What is the key to good gift giving? I like to collect hints from friends and family throughout the year so that I can get them something they actually love. This eliminates the risk and they are always pleasantly surprised when I remember something they said months before. Hanna Morse – Manager at Backdoor Surf On my wish list this Christmas is… Each year I always wish for a new surfboard to add to my little collection. Otherwise a big shiny gold watch, or that bottle of perfume I’ve wanted for ages. What is the key to good gift giving? I like to buy my friends and family something that helps them to pursue and enjoy their passion. For a skateboarder this could be a new deck or new shoes. Or for someone who loves to laze on the beach, I’d gift a big towel or a wide brim hat so they can look good and protect their skin. During the holiday season, what treats do you indulge in? My Mum bakes an incredible Christmas cake with sherry icing. One bite of this brings back all of my childhood memories. 6 Christmas Wish List Do you have any much-loved Christmas rituals? The adults in our family simply eat so much Christmas tucker that we can hardly move, while all the kids turn hyperactive, overly excited that it’s Christmas Day. My Finnish friend Emmi who works with me always has a mandatory Christmas sauna, which would be interesting given the warm weather here! Share some of your own tips for a hassle-free Christmas shopping experience. If they are hard to buy for, don’t leave it to the last minute. Take them shopping in late October or November and listen to them suggest what they like and then take a trip in to buy it later on. During the holiday season, what treats do you indulge in? I’m a sucker for Christmas mince pies, and love Christmas Stollen but my favourite would be champagne of course. Do you have any much-loved Christmas rituals? The kids love making gingerbread men. We decorate them together and hang them from the tree. They get eaten so quickly, none of them ever make it to Christmas Day. We often escape to Tawharanui Regional Park, an hour north of Auckland, for Christmas. Once there, a ‘must-do’ is sliding down the hill on blow-up camp beds at break neck speed. What are your much-loved Christmas rituals? I like to keep things simple. This means hanging out with family and friends, and having a cider in the sun.
