Why customers should purchase Polycom products
and services from certified Polycom partners
Polycom is committed to customers’ receiving the best
experience from their purchase of Polycom products and
services. This briefing paper outlines key reasons why you, a
Polycom customer, should purchase our products and services
through a Polycom certified partner1 .
1. Polycom certified partners
Polycom certified partners are trained, qualified and equipped
to provide you with the most current information and support
about our products and services and how they can meet your
particular business requirements.
• Certified partners complete technical and sales trainings
on an ongoing basis to maintain expertise as our offerings
evolve. This training helps to ensure that our partners have
the ability to position the proper solution for your business
needs, to determine how our solutions can be appropriately
integrated into your communications environment and to
address other applicable legal/regulatory requirements
that may be associated with the sale of our solutions to
particular customers. Once a partner has completed such
requirements, the partner is then “certified” to resell the
particular product line. For Example: a partner who has
completed requisite trainings to resell our voice products is
then certified as a “voice” partner.
• Our certified partners should display their Polycom partner
logo on their website. If you are not sure if a business entity
is a certified Polycom partner, you should ask them to
provide a current Letter of Certification from Polycom.
• In addition to certifications, Polycom partners may elect to
increase their competencies with Specializations. Polycom
Specializations enable the partner with expertise in specific
verticals such as healthcare, or with services offerings such
as implementation, integration or maintenance. Polycom
will only honor and support services provided by ServiceSpecialized Polycom partners or through Polycom’s own
service offering.
2. Polycom product warranty
Our product warranty terms only apply to the purchase of
new products made through our authorized partners. New
products are sold in their original packaging, with all labeling
and markings clearly legible. Products that are advertised as
“unused” are not the same as “new” and are not covered by
our product warranty. You can review our standard product

3. Purchasing genuine Polycom products
Certified Polycom partners purchase and resell our solutions
through Polycom’s authorized chain of distribution, which
ensures that you receive genuine new Polycom products. “New”
products should be provided in Polycom’s original packaging.
Polycom’s certified resellers must purchase products/solutions
from authorized Polycom distributors or from us directly. If
you buy a purported “new” product through an unauthorized
source, it is of unknown origin. Consequently, our product
warranty does not cover such products, and such products
are not eligible for service support (whether Polycom-branded
or partner-branded). Products of unknown origin may also be
counterfeit and potentially even raise safety concerns. See the
“red flag” list below to help determine if a product is a genuine
Polycom product.
4. Counterfeit products
In many countries, including, but not limited to, the United
States and its trading partners, the manufacture and sale
of counterfeit products is a crime and a theft of intellectual
property rights. Like many other manufacturers, we expend
significant sums to develop our products and brand. The sale
of counterfeit products can significantly injure our brand name
and presents the above-mentioned issues for our customers.

How to determine when a product may not be a
genuine Polycom product
Preventative steps to avoid purchasing
non-genuine Polycom products
• The product does not come with any product documentation
covering warranty terms, instructions for use or warnings.
• Purchase only through Polycom-authorized resellers
and distributors.
• The documentation that is provided with the product does
not appear to be original, but instead looks like a photocopy,
or the documentation is provided only in one language.
• Avoid purchasing products from sources outside Polycom
authorized partner program, such as via online auctions.
• There are misspelled words or words that are grammatically
incorrect in English either on the product’s labels or packaging
or in the documentation.
• The packaging is of poor quality or condition, is dirty or
includes scuff marks.
If you believe you may have purchased products bearing our
brand name and/or logo from an unauthorized source or you
are unable to locate a specific Polycom partner, please contact
intellectualproperty@polycom.com.
• The product labels are hard to read and/or are smudged
in appearance.
• The product shows adhesive glue on sections where there
are no labels affixed (i.e. suggesting that labels may have
been removed).
• The product and/or its packaging does not include Polycom’s
markings (i.e. part number, name, logo, and other third party
certification markings).
• The product, packaging and/or labeling include different
colors or shades of color.
• The product’s serial number is inconsistent with Polycom’s
product numbering scheme.
• The reseller is unwilling to confirm in writing that it is an
authorized Polycom reseller.
• The reseller is unwilling or cannot identify a Polycom
authorized distributor from whom it purchased the products.
