2016 Vizient Clinical Connections Summit
September 28-30, Dallas, Texas
Abstract Submission Information
Thank you for taking the time to submit your abstract by July 1, 2016 at 12:00 noon central
standard time. We look forward to reading and reviewing it! You will be notified the week of July 25th
if the proposed abstract is selected. You will submit your abstract via an online process for either
a rapid fire presentation and/or a poster. We have created this reference to help you make the most
of your proposal.
The 2016 Vizient Clinical Connections Summit will bring health care leaders together to focus on
improving patient care through innovative clinical quality and patient safety strategies, and redesigning
healthcare delivery for improved outcomes and reduced costs.
Through participating in the 2016 Vizient Clinical Connection you will be able to:
• Share leading practices for measuring, improving and sustaining high clinical quality and patient
safety.
• Explore how clinical quality and patient safety analytics and insights can be used to improve patient
care and care delivery.
• Discover how organizations are transforming to achieve clinical quality and patient safety in the new
era of value-based payment, population health, and integrated care delivery across the continuum.
No less than 60 abstracts will be selected for rapid fire sessions. Each rapid fire session will be 30
minutes in length including at least 5 minutes for questions and answers. For this reason, we
generally suggest no more than 2 presenters for each session. Vizient will provide funding
assistance for no more than 2 speakers for each rapid fire session, details to follow upon acceptance
of proposals.
Approximately 40 abstracts will be selected for poster display. The poster will provide a summary of
your work from the categories listed below. If selected for a poster, additional details regarding format
and size will follow.
All abstracts are to be submitted and presented by Vizient members only. In order to submit your
proposal, you will need to:

Provide complete contact information for your lead presenter. The person submitting the
abstract will be treated as the lead presenter and will receive all subsequent communications at
this point in the process.

the audience’s perspective, what is your key message, the question you have solved, the essence
of the success you want to share? What will make this a must-see session for attendees?

Finally, you will need to present your topic and supporting information. This is done in three sections:
definition, data, and results. Our reviewers will read each submission to find the best of the best—the
proposals that present the most coherent, most concise, and most innovative ideas, projects, or research.
Each of the components below is equally important so be sure to capture each. In each category you
have up to 300 words to describe your:
•
Definition. State the issue(s) you would like to address, explore, or resolve, as well as explain your
purpose or logic in pursuing the subject. Describe your process or method in solving or addressing
the issue, as well as any important changes that took place to further develop these methods.
Describe your performance management approach/methodology. What is the accountability
structure and role of leadership? How is the voice of the customer captured in this process? Is this
a future trend and/or an innovative approach? If applicable, please describe how your submitted
work is uniquely innovative.
•
Data. Identify your measures, sources, and outcomes including any improved data, facts, or
statistics found through your efforts. If you have not completed your project, please include initial,
early, or expected results (for example, improved satisfaction or speedier processes) and indicate
your continued work between now and September 2016.
•
Results. Summarize the results or outcomes of the work that has been completed thus far. Include a
statement of what impact your work has had on the field of study and/or the value added by your
results. Why do you think it is important to include this presentation in the Vizient Clinical Connections
Summit?
A few last comments:
•
Make your proposal clear and compelling. Think about telling a story with supporting information,
rather than just detailing facts and results. Remember, if your proposal is selected, you will be telling
your story to people who want to hear about the impact of your work—not just the steps you took.
People will want to understand your leading practices, innovative approaches, and lessons learned.
