December 1, 2015 Partnership Agreement
St. Thomas Aquinas College and S.U.N.Y. Orange County Community College
Associate in Science Degree in Computer Science at SUNY Orange to
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science at St. Thomas Aquinas College
The St. Thomas Aquinas College Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Steven Burns, has
completed a review of the Associate in Science in Computer Science at SUNY Orange for
students who enter using the 2015-16 catalog and determined the following appraisal of this
outstanding program. This agreement is for students who wish to matriculate at St. Thomas
Aquinas College as a junior in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science.
SUNY Orange requires 62 credits for the program to be completed and St. Thomas Aquinas
College will accept 60 credits. The only credits that are not transferrable are the one (1) credit
Physical Education requirements by SUNY Orange.
The two colleges have a standing Articulation Agreement which governs any statements made in
this agreement. STAC accepts all grades of D or higher for course equivalent credit as part of the
AA/AS degree and grades of C- or higher for courses within the major.
All SUNY Orange students who are admitted who achieved a 2.1 grade point average or higher are
eligible for a Merit or Academic Award ranging from $5,000 to $11,000. In addition, as a St.
Thomas Aquinas College Community College Partner, SUNY Orange Students are eligible for an
additional $2,000 annual Community College Excellence Award.
Phi Theta Kappa members, who enroll full time at STAC and who meet all other admission criteria
will be awarded our half-tuition scholarship in place of all other merit/academic awards. In spring
2016 this scholarship, $14,370, will be awarded to students who have been inducted into the Phi
Theta Kappa Honor Society at SUNY Orange and who have maintained the GPA expected of a
PTK Honor Student. The annual awards will be renewable based on maintaining a 3.0 STAC GPA
and are renewable for up to four (4) semesters as a transfer student at the undergraduate level.
St. Thomas Aquinas College and SUNY Orange County Community College are proud to form this
partnership agreement that will be in effect as of December 1, 2015. We believe this agreement
will be of great benefit to SUNY Orange County Community College students who are considering
transferring to St. Thomas Aquinas College to complete a baccalaureate degree in Computer
Science.
