Superior performance-never done before-has been brought
by this HK-399W/HK-399PW.
AIT (Advanced Interline Transfer) CCD
Low Power Consumption (HK-399PW)
Newly developed AIT (Advanced Interline Transfer) CCD offers
high sensitivity of f11 and very low smear levels of -135dB with
100,000 times lighting condition. This figure actually exceeds that
of FIT chip.
Its power consumption is merely approx. 10W thanks to the
newest Digital Process IC and signal processing. This contributes
the decrease of internal heat-up inside the camera and the
stability of electric parts & its longer lifetime. In comparison with
HK-388P (20.5W), the consumption is almost half of that.
(*NOTE: Some manufacturers announce the smear level with only 500 times
lighting condition. Ikegami, however, measures with 100,000 times lighting to
have more precise figure.)
FULL AUTO SETUP
As previous Ikegami HK series camera had, HK-399W/HK-399PW
has FULL AUTO SETUP function. By performing FULL AUTO
SETUP, total setup for video including lens, optical block and CCD
can be made automatically. Also upon its necessity, LEVEL AUTO
that adjusts only for video level and QUICK AUTO that does not
need external chart can be performed. As such, this camera
equips precise and automatic camera maintenance functions.
Compact & Light Weight (HK-399PW)
The camera is ergonomically designed with low profile for stable
on-shoulder operation work. It is possible to keep side angle of
view. The shoulder pad is made of non-slip material, and camera
weight is only 2.3kg (excluding VF and TA).
Prompt Software Update via SmartMediaTM –
data transmission on email
So far, it needs a time and is rather troublesome when the
software version is changed. Updated software for HK-399PW
Camera Head can be sent as data through email etc, so by
downloading it on SmartMedia and by slotting it in the camera and
downloading, the update can be done promptly, simply and easily
with less work!
Chip C4 ASIC
New Prism
■ 0.18µm Digital Process
Using newly developed digital
process IC - almost all signal
processing can be done with this designed at 0.18micro m rule, the
video signals are digitized up to 38
bit internal digital processing.
Full digital processing after preknee ensures stable and reliable
picture quality.

Also since the remaining analog
circuit in previous digital cameras such as White Balance /
White Shading are digitized, it also contributes superb highquality pictures, with excellent S/N during all operation.
Also Digital ENC circuit is built-in the chip, stable composite
video can be obtained from camera head.
■ S/N 66dB (PAL) / 68dB (NTSC) (Typical)
Excellent S/N 66dB (PAL) / 68dB (NTSC), impossible figure so
far, has been achievable thanks to newly developed CCD
signal processing, improvement of Pre-Amp, digitization of
remaining analog circuit and adoption of 14bit A/D conversion.
Also the D/A converter for Video is 12bit, so not only digital but
also analog video out can be hi-quality.
■ 14bit A/D Converter-Forerunner in industry
Employing 14bit A/D converter that no one has ever done
ensures the improvement of gradation on dark portion (Internal
process : up to 38bit). Also knee expand circuit that is
incorporated at the first step of digital processing IC restores
the linearity on high luminance portion that is lost during preknee process. This makes it possible to do the linear signal
processing at 600% in digital process after pre-knee and it
contributes the great improvement of the characteristics such
as Knee, & Flare.
■ Newly developed Prism Block
At the events / programs with strong spot-light such as livemusic show or the night football match, you might have
experienced the picture itself or around the spot-light becomes
whity or foggy. Also in some cases you might have observed
Golfball Ghost *1. These are the phenomeon caused by the
reflection of prism. HK-399W/HK-399PW employs new prism –
coating on the surface of prism ejection side has been
improved – so as not to reflect the light on the side.

when shooting the strong light at center of the picture. The closer the
iris is, the more this becomes obvious.

■ ADAPTIVE AUTO KNEE
In addition to the conventional Auto Knee circuit that varies the
slope of the knee according to the degree of over exposure, the
HK-399W/HK-399PW includes an Adaptive Auto Knee that
adapts both the Point and Slope of the knee to give improved
contrast in the highlight area. The Adaptive Auto Knee has five
different pivot points, selected by the menu, so the operator can
optimize the performance according to the application.

Other Features
New DTL functions are incorporated in addition to conventional
Diagonal DTL.
■ FINE DTL
Newly developed "FINE DTL" prevents the increase of nonnatural edge on the portion where the luminance is different,
and it contributes the increase of edge on fine portions.
Because of the CHIP C4 ASIC, it provides more natural edge
feeling without the deterioration of S/N. HK-399PW improves
the characteristics of edge itself by 38MHz processing at the
first stage of CHIP C4.
■ HYPER GAIN
The hyper gain upto +48dB allows a minimum illumination of
0.03 lux (at F1.4 with 50% video level). Synchronized noise /
random noise that is visible remarkably when gain up is
drastically decreased, so gain up with clear picture quality can
be obtained. Furthermore, optional extended sensitivity board
can increase sensitivity upto 76dB (PAL) / 78dB (NTSC) (min.
illumination approx. 0.004lux) by CCD accumulation function
plus +48dB gain up.
■ WIDE-BAND-DTL
By widening of DTL boost frequency, the picture becomes
sharper especially when the zooming is at wide side of the
object.
■ NEW-SKIN-DTL
The conventional Skin DTL is the function not added DTL to
skin tone portion. The new Skin DTL eliminates the DTL edge
only for the high frequency portion of skin tone more than
conventional skin DTL to have more effect.

■ SUPER-KNEE
The colour reproduction in high luminance area is improved
since the high luminance signal is digitally processed with a
super knee function after it is reconverted to a linear signal.
This system retains the colour in the highlight area where it is
washed out in conventional cameras.

■ CLEAR-VF-DTL (Patent-Pending)
VF DTL is stressed only on in-focus point, so easier focusing is
possible on the VF. Difference edging on the VF picture makes
it possible for camera operator to adjust focus and find the

■ Custom Color Effect
This color correction function gives the operator subjective
control of hue and saturation of the six color vectors, without
disturbing the linear matrix setup. A unique addition to the
system is auto detection (AHD) for two specific colors chosen
by the operator. After selecting the hue, saturation, and
luminance level of the custom colors is under operator control.

■ 16bit Digital Clamp
16bit digital clamp circuit that incorporates digital process IC
retains high stability of video black level. It is effective to the
black level change caused by the temperature change of A/D
converter that sometimes happens with Digital processing
camera.
■ Serial Digital communication with lens
Serial digital communication interface is available for the
camera and the lens. Data communication, such as automatic
lens file setting when the portable lens is changed, can be
made.

Simple Configuration
For camera head side the necessary preparation is just to mount the lens, that’s all. You do not have to worry about the adjustment that
must be done when the lens supporter and System Expander is used.
Low Center of Grabity
VF positioning closer to lens optical axis
The studio type camera is in operation with Tripod and Pedestal.
The lower the gravity of the camera is, the higher the stability
when panning/tilting. HK-399W has designed with lower lens
mount and VF position for lower center of gravity.
The closer the center of VF is to lens optical axis, the more precise
camera operation can be made. HK-399W has only 125mm distance

Optical Axis Adjustment correction function
Optical axis adjustment function gives you the precise correction for the error between lens axis and prism axis. In case this is not suitably
adjusted the center of the picture is shifted when zooming-in. (This is the features that Ikegami studio type camera equips)

In addition to independently-operated two BOX/CROSS cursors, it equips rear control
panel with user-friendly layout such as MENU selection such as rotary pulse switch.
The panel light is linked with open/close of the switch cover, so it is so effective to
operate the panel in the studios with non-sufficient light. The light is with white LED
that offers you the non-necessity of lamp exchange.

■ 1.5" Viewfinder
Equipped with a high
performance viewfinder of
horizontal resolution of 600
TVL. So that the operator can
concentrate on the VF
picture, internal LED display
in escutcheon is minimized
and the setting mode is
displayed as character upon
its necessity. Besides this VF
has rear tally on the back
side for easier confirmation.
In addition, the viewfinder
can be moved back & forth /
right & left by means of an
innovative sliding system.
■ Pivoting triax connector
This enables various angle of shooting
without giving damage on triax cable.
■ Triple fiters
HK-399PW provides two built-in grass
filter wheels - ND
(100%,25%,6.2%,1.6%) / EFF (Clear,
Cross, Snow Cross, Soft Focus) and
ECC [Electronic Color Compensation]
(3200K /4300K /6300K /8000K), totally
triple filters. By the random
combination of these filters, whatever
colour temperature condition is,
suitable lighting and depth of field can
be retained and the camera can be
operated with same operation flexibility
as conventional top-end broadcast
cameras. All these triple filters can be
servo / remote-control from OCP-399 /
MCP-120.

It provides Intercom / PGM
control on the side panel.

■ MCP-120 and OCP-399
To control the full functions on HK-399W/HK-399PW, the MCP
and OCP have been designed newly. Features exclusively
available such as triple filters, up to 48dB gain up and custom
color can be controlled by the new panels.
System Expander SE-S500
For the requirement of same performance as studio type
Camera, System Expander SE-S500 is available. This unit can
mount large lens and 7" VF. Same operability with conventional
studio type camera can be achieved.In case of operation with
large lens + 5" VF, the operation can be made without SE-S500
by feeding the power to lens & 5" VF from DC12V CN (Max 2A).
