PowlVac® Circuit Breakers ANSI CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR ALL POWLVAC SWITCHGEAR 5kV THROUGH 38kV NEW STANDARDS The ANSI standards have evolved from the 1945 revision when breakers were rated based on interrupting MVA. In 1964 the standards established varying K factors to adjust interrupting rating as a function of the voltage. The K factor reflects the performance of the oil and air interrupting technologies available at that time. CONSTANT INTERRUPTING RATING This practice ended with the 1999 change, where circuit breaker K factors were all set at a value of one. The K factor of 1.0 results in all medium voltage breakers, tested to ANSI standard C37.09, having a constant interrupting rating irrespective of nominal system voltage. DESIGNS TO MEET ANY REQUIREMENT K Factor = 1.0 for constant interrupting rating Tested for 10,000 operations Low Maintenance Current Transfer Fits Into Existing PowlVac © Switchgear 2 Second Short-Time UL and C-UL Listed Wide variety of racking options • Type STD - Standard - 5kV and 15kV standard design which requires an open cubicle door to rack the circuit breaker between the test, connected and disconnected positions. • Type ND - Narrow Design - 26” wide standard design for use in PowlVac-ND® switchgear and provides the ability to rack the circuit breaker between the test, connected and disconnected positions with the cubicle door closed. • Type CDR - Closed Door Racking - 5kV and 15kV designs which provides the ability to rack the circuit breaker between the test, connected and disconnected positions with the cubicle door closed. • Type CDA - Closed Door Automatic - 5kV and 15kV designs which combines the telescopic racking arm and front mounted secondary disconnect slider in lieu of the secondary umbilical. • Type CDS - Closed Door Standard - 5kV through 38kV designs which allows the ability to rack the circuit breaker with the door closed. • Type ARM - Automatic Racking Mechanism - 5kV through 38kV designs and is the latest and most advanced version on the market. A breaker mounted motor racks the breaker by remote command.
