Sponsor Irvine’s Adopted 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines
for the 240TH MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY BALL
The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee is seeking the community’s support to sponsor the
2/11 Marines by adopting a Marine (Marine couple or several Marines) for the 240th Marine Corps
Birthday Ball. Every year on November 10th, the United States Marine Corps celebrates the
founding of the Marine Corps—the most loyal, most feared, most revered, and most professional
fighting force the world has ever known. In 1925, the first “official” Birthday Ball was held in
Philadelphia and the tradition has continued every year since. Over the years, the annual
Birthday Ball has evolved from simple origins to the formal functions of today.

The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee provides charitable and educational activities and support for the benefit and welfare of
the U.S. Marines and their families assigned to Camp Pendleton, CA with emphasis on the Marines and families of the 2nd Battalion,
11th Marines. The committee solicits private and public donations to underwrite the cost of sponsoring the 2/11 Marines and their families.
