FIXED INSTRUMENT SET UPS FOR PILLARS

GOECKE‘s pillar plates have proven themselves very successfully over more than 35 years in countless construction sites in tunnels, bridges and other civil engineering projects.

They ensure the highest-possible accuracy when fine positioning instruments with tolerances of less than 1/10mm. As well as high precision, GOECKE‘s pillar plates are inexpensive, easy to install and, above all, durable. Our plates are made from a particularly corrosion-resistant brass alloy.

We particularly recommend the 14A design with protective cover and a replaceable centring bolt. Even if the 5/8“ thread is damaged, the pillar can still be used - a unique characteristic of our plate!

1 PILLAR PLATE 14A WITH PROTECTION COVER

The best and therefore most popular solution.

The main advantages are the heavy lid, which protects the finely machined plate with 160mm diameter in the most optimum way against mechanical influences.

M6 threaded pins for horizontal alignment during installation, installation instructions and drilling template.

A centring bolt 14C is needed for measurement, this is screwed with the included M8 Allen bolt into the thread of the plate.

1 MEASURING PILLAR FOR TEMPORARY MONITORING CAMPAIGNS

For relatively short-term monitoring campaigns the installation (and subsequent disposal) using classical measurement pillars made of concrete with their associated deep foundations is often uneconomical.

For such applications we manufacture easy to install and remove measuring pillars made from steel according to your specifications.

In addition to our standard type (see the illustration on the right) with its straight design and a total length of 1,500mm, we also supply special models for a wide range of applications.

Their prices depend on the length of the pillar, the type of mounting and the number of units.

Please allow 2 – 3 weeks for delivery.

The actual pillar consists of a 120mm x 120mm rectangular tube with 4mm thick walls.

The standard base plate measures 400 x 400 x 10mm. The equipment mounting plate measures 200 x 200 x 10mm and its standard equipment includes a 5/8“ tapped hole at the centre and four M6 tapped holes as well as one M10 tapped hole for mounting a weather protection cover 14-WSH-TK or the Tachylock set 46-TL-SET (see also the comments on

2 LOCKABLE COVER F. MEASURING PILLARS MADE FROM STAINLESS STEEL

For DN 300 and DN 400 measuring pillars, we are now able to offer standardised covers made from stainless steel (V2A).

Included in delivery are the hinged cover, the hinge, a striker plate, a high-quality padlock and the installation instructions.

The hinged and lockable covers have a wall thickness of 1.5mm and a cover height of

53mm. They offer optimal weather and antivandalism protection for the pillar plate and can be installed in a few minutes. The hinge, and the closing bracket, can be glued into the pillar using commercially available two-part adhesives (e.g. 106-IM345).

To ensure smooth installation, you are advised to download the Installation Instructions from the “Additional information” segment of our web site, www.goecke.de, already in the initial pillar foundation stage.

Please note that we only keep small numbers in stock. This means that, especially for large orders, delivery times of 4 to 6 weeks may arise.

WEATHER- AND ANTI-VANDALISM PROTECTIVE COVER FOR MONITORING PROJECTS

The weather and anti-vandalism protective cover with drilled viewing ports on the wall console

14TK... in use.

Total stations in monitoring campaigns must usually be protected using a suitable housing against weather influences and vandalism.

The planning for using traditional housings is difficult, since it needs to be known in advance if and where support to hold the protective cover could disturb the view of the targets to be monitored.

The larger the viewing window, the bigger the risk that your instrument could be damaged by vandalism. Glazed viewing windows often cause problems due to light refraction, unwanted reflection and, in many cases, produce a device unfriendly climate within the protective housing.

As condensation is more dangerous than rain water to your station, a heating system must be provided in many cases which significantly increases the energy requirements for the system.

The GEOCKE weather and vandalism protective cover made from semi-transparent plastic can be used universally and solves the problems outlined above when used with a

(also) reflector-less measuring tachymeter.

GOECKE‘s protective cover can be used on measurement pillars and instrument consoles.

For use with consoles, we particularly recommend our model 14-TKx00 (shown on page 8).

These consoles can be factory-fitted with all the required mounting holes for the mounting bracket of the protective cover. This reduces the assembly effort to a minimum.

NOTES ON FUNCTION AND INSTALLATION

For use with the GOECKE weather and antivandalism protection hood, it is vital to use a tachymeter which, as well as infra-red distance measurement, has a visible laser beam. This is needed to mark and cut out the viewing ports.

Installation steps:

1. Screw or dowel the mounting frame or

bracket onto the console or the pillar

2. Perform a baseline measurement on the targets to be observed

3. Fit the hood, change the device beforehand into the reflector-less measuring mode

4. Illuminate and mark the viewing ports for the target points in the staking mode

5. Using a sheet drill, cut out the sections for the viewing ports (Ø 30mm drill)

Drill the viewing ports with a sheet metal drill.

The exact location of the viewing ports can be easily and precisely indicated using a visible EDM beam and can then be immediately drilled. The total station can remain in the housing for this.

GOECKE contactors protects your instruments against theft during monitoring campaigns.

Tachylock covers the locking lever on the tripod and makes it impossible to remove the instrument.

BRACKETS FOR TOTAL STATIONS

Consoles for measuring instruments are improvised using the currently available possibilities in many tunnel construction sites and monitoring campaigns. The results are often not very functional or aesthetic.

We have held many discussions with specialists about the topic of consoles and have developed a whole range of different systems which have proven themselves on many construction sites over the years.

All brackets are suitable to heavy instruments, such as the gyro theodolites and total stations.

This holds true with a proper professional in- stallation.

According to the desired area (e.g. bracket installed location, desired operational life, required mobility and the expected external influences on the bracket) individual models are still better than others.

The following overview may make your choice a little easier.

1 BRACKET 14-TK - ... , HEAVY DUTY VERSION

The proven wall console 14-TK-... can normally be delivered at short notice for diverse wall distances and can be installed in the stope and the sole-plate areas.

If you want to use the consoles with our weather protective covers and/or the Tachylock system (see page 6 and 7), you must order the version 14-TK...

-M , where the device mounting plate is fitted with M6 and M10 holes.

The solid and very inexpensive construction guarantees reliable operation under all conditions without complicated clamps or filigree parts.

All parts are cleanly deburred and powder coated in red. They are fastened using the four

M10 heavy-load dowels supplied. The console can be easily fitted even to rough surfaces.

The 200 x 200mm large, 10mm thick mounting plate is delivered with a 25mm long

5/8“-hex bolt for every commercially available measuring instrument.

Thanks to the modular design of the consoles, they are delivered in a disassembled condition.

2 BRACKET 14-TK2 - RELIABLE JOINT ASSEMBLING

The wall console 14-TK2 was specially designed for use in TBM operations with segment construction and has been proven since 2007.

M16 clamping bolts completely reliably.

When used in the ridge area, the hinge arm can be turned on the axis of the extension arm which also allows the instrument to be optimally aligned here too.

Installation in any segment joint from 5mm minimum width, either axially or radially, can be done in less than a minute. The well thought-out design means it can be used with even the heaviest measuring instruments at any point in the tunnel profile.

The console is made completely from stainless steel (V2A), and designed in a solid fashion so that you will have many years of use.

A ratchet and 24mm socket is needed for assembly. Further tools are not required. The console foot (1) is inserted in the segment joint with the fixed mounting arm (2).

The reliable locking of the console is done using two clamping jaws which are pressed using two M16 bolts onto the edges of the joint.

3 WALL BRACKET 14-TK3, THE UNIVERSAL BRACKET

These consoles can be used in any point in the tunnel profile efficiently and reliably too.

The console is mainly manufactured from stainless steel (V2A). Only the threaded part is constructed from painted steel for technical construction reasons. The reusable, galvanised mounting plate

14-TK3-MP is installed at any desired location in the profile using three M10 impact dowels.

The three-point support gives a secure attachment even on uneven surfaces.

The mounting plate is hardly visible and is normally left on the wall in most cases after the measurement.

You need the following tools for installation:

(Cordless) hammer drill with drill Ø 10mm

SW 17 and SW 24mm sockets

Hammer (to tighten the extension arm)

For the measurement, an extension arm with a hinge arm is screwed onto the mounting plate.

Reliably tightening is best done using a hammer blow on the arms of the threaded nut.

Wall console 14-TK3 scope of delivery:

The connection between the extension arm and the mounting plate is done using a round thread, which can cope with light contamination, by sprayed concrete for example.

4 SINGLE ARM-BRACKET 14-TK1 – LIGHT AND MOBILE

Very light, easy to transport and precisely manufactured consoles made from aluminium for installation in sole-plate and stope areas.

The repeat accuracy achievable for the positioning of the instrument lies in the range of a few tenths of a millimetre.

As the tripod only offers limited levelling possibilities, the wall bolts must be very precisely installed. For this, we recommend our two-component cement and the installation apparatus 14-TK1-EV with two installed tube guides at right-angles to each other.

As even on large construction projects, it is rare that many instrument positions are used simultaneously, this system is extremely economical.

The positive contact of the head of the bolt on the tunnel lining is very important here.

Therefore the gap between the back of the bolt and the tunnel lining must also be filled with two-component cement, or similar. The arm of the console consists of a very stiff

(Ø 120mm). The tripod is fixed to the console using a handy 5/8“ tightening screw.

If you plan to use a device heavier than 7kg or a motorised instrument, the console should be secured using two additional braces to the sides and downwards to achieve even higher stiffness.

The console is adapted to the wall with this system using a solid brass bolt with a protective cover which is glued to the wall. During measurement, the cover is unscrewed and replaced with an adapter bolt made of stainless steel, the console is slid onto this and fastened using the clamping lever.

For this, there are two standard wall bolts with

M8 internal thread installed under the console on the 11R-series (see page 14).

The bracing kit 14-TK1-TSA contains all the required parts and is available as an option.

TUNNEL LASERS

Our tunnel lasers have been especially designed for tunnel advances. Both devices shine out with their very robust, absolutely construction-site proof design and ease of use.

They are especially suitable for direction transformation in tunnels, shafts, crossways and displaying the position of prefabricated tunnel profile points and drill through points.

1 TUNNELLING LASER TCL2000

The TCL2000 is a device which has been proven over many years on national and international tunnel construction sites. It has a solid aluminium housing and precise laser optics.

The working range is 300° vertically and 360° horizontally, fine positioning in both axes is done using clampable fine drive. The range is approximately 500 metres.

The tilting axis height of the laser is 112mm, an adjustment to the tilting axis height of

LEICA tachymeters is possible using the available adapter 114-TCL-AL.

Power supply with 110 - 240 V comes via a protected power supply with earthed plug; the connection between power supply and laser is via a shielded cable.

This largely prevents or significantly minimises damage to the laser or the laser diode from power surges in the site power supply.

2 ATTACHABLE LASER FOR CONVERGENCE BOLTS

For short distances of up to 50m, our inhousemanufactured attachable laser 114-AL-KVB provides a cost effective yet extremly robust alternative to the TCL2000. This instrument can be easily and securely mounted to LEICA adapter or any other WILD-/LEICA-compatible adapter with a diameter of 12mm. There is no time and cost consuming mounting onto a bracket.

With a tilt axis height of 86mm the 114-AL-KVB is compatible with common bi-reflex targets and mini prisms. Power supply can be provided either by the main 230V power and the included power adapter or by our external battery 114-AL-

CONVERGENCE-BOLTS AND EQUIPMENT

In tunnels, prisms for monitoring deformations are assembled predominantly on convergence adapters. They can either be directly mounted to the reinforcement of the tunnel lining or even fitted subsequently by drilling and gluing.

Alternatively you have the choice between the standard version 5KB with 3/8 inch male thread or the model 5KBW with fixed 12mm

LEICA-adapter. breaking point (sacrificial join).

This combination is particularly reliable be- cause even strong mechanical forces are un- able to damage the convergence adapter, which is embedded in concrete. If heavy equipment touches the holder or a blasting backfires, the connection adapter would normally break but the bolt and the holder would remain intact.

We recommend the use of bolt 5KB including connection adapter 46-VA made of plastic, which has an integrated predetermined

3 PROTECTION RING AGAINST DAMAGE TO CONVERGENCE-BOLT

For blasting operations, our convergence measuring bolts can be fitted with a welded on protective ring made of steel. The prism holder is then located deep within the ring and protected from stone impact.

Using the optionally available closing plugs made of Styrofoam you can prevent the penetration of sprayed-on concrete into the protective ring. The closing plugs are suitable for use with both the 5KB and 5KBW designs.

The attached anchors (Ø 8 x 220mm) fitted transversely to the bolt axis, allows simple attachment to the reinforced mat.

The new and inexpensive weather protection cover 46-MP-WH provides your mini prism 46-MP with effective protection against rain and dew.

The plastic pipe is cut obliquely and has a slot at the bottom. It is pushed over the prism‘s housing highly pre-stressed and can then be turned into the desired position.

The slot should point down so that any collected water (from storms or heavy rain) can easily drain away.

7 MONITORING PRISM LEICA GMP104 / GMP104 COMPATIBLE

Robust and inexpensive prism systems with housings and brackets from anodised aluminium and copper-coated mini prisms.

The prisms can be rotated or tilted on the vertical and tilting axes. The L-shaped bracket has a leg length of 76mm.

The original LEICA GMP104 is delivered without mounting accessories. The delivery of the almost identical 46-LMP includes a M8 x 20 stainless steel bolt with which the prism can be fastened to every dowel or wall bolt with a M8 thread

8 MONITORING PRISM LEICA GPR112 WITH ACCESSORIES

The GPR112 with 60mm diameter is suitable for target distances up to 2,500m and is protected by a special filter to prevent condensation on the rear of the prism.

The prism can be adjusted and fixed in both axes using the tilting mount GHT112 made from aluminium. The holder can be fastened to almost any surface using its M8 internal thread

(see page 14), on 5/8“ threaded bots or even with 3.5mm Spax screws. Using the M8 internal thread on the rear side of the housing, the GPR112 is screwed onto the optionally available holder GHT112 made from aluminium. 9 MONITORING PRISM FOR NEAR SURFACE OBSERVATIONS

The prisms of the 46-MP17-AL series are suitable for monitoring busy roads in public areas thanks to their size of 100 x 100 x 23mm (L x W x H).

The aluminium housing with integrated glass prisms (Ø 17mm) can also be driven over by heavy trucks.

Very inexpensive mini prism (Ø 12mm) in sturdy mount made from plastic for target distances of up to approx 200m.

The 36 x 100mm large base plate enables secure adhesive mounting using our assembly adhesive 13-MK. Alternatively, the prism can be screwed or dowelled. Two holes of Ø 5.5mm diameter are provided for this.

Due to the lack of tilting and swivelling possibilities, and the small prism diameter, the prism must be very well aligned with the instrument position.

ALUMINIUM CROSS PROFILES

At the establishment of surface networks many control points have to be marked reliably in soft ground. A reliable possibility is our cross profile made from corrosion proven aluminium alloy. The cross profiles can be used in soft to light compacted grounds and attached easily with prisms.

For soft ground we recommend the spiral ver- sion, which offers a significantly better anchorage compared to the standard version.

To drive it in you should use our special tool and a sledge hammer. Thus a deformation of the shank can be avoided, which would complicate the attaching of the end cap with the M8-thread.

The caps will be attached after driving in the cross profile and will be permanently connected with one or two hammer blows.

2 DRIVING IN TOOL FOR CROSS PROFILE

In order to attach the end caps without any problem on the cross profiles, it requires a clean non deformated shape at the cross profile head.

To protect the star shape of the cross profile we recommend our special driving in tool and a sledge hammer.

2 HEIGHT SOLID PRECISION TRIBRACH SYSTEM LEICA

High-precision manufactured tripod (like order no. 59-K370sw, see above). Instead of the three standard leg bolts, only two movable bolts are used in this special model.

Because of this system, horizontal levelling is only possible at one height. The use of this only makes sense with pillar head connection plate

14A (see note above).

The pillar plate should be distinctly marked

(e.g. with grains), so that the tripod can be positioned in exactly the same place as during the reference measurement in the case of repeated measurements. You can find details about the pillar head connection plate 14A on page 4.

Precise – universal – inexpensive

Our modular system of ball prisms was especially developed for monitoring applications.

The major advantage of this system is its very high centring accuracy of ± 0.1mm and an opportunity of targeting the same prism from various viewing angles without any loss in accuracy. These prisms are also very inexpensive.

The prisms consist of a galvanised steel ball manufactured to a tolerance of ± 0.05mm and a triple prism inserted exactly in its centre.

The system is completed by a ball base and centring plates, which are adapted to the specific mounting situation and may be reliably fixed on almost any surface by adhesive bonding or screwing/dowelling.

The ball bases have integrated permanent magnets with various holding forces ensuring a reliable connection to the ball prism and the centring plate.

This sophisticated design allows swivelling the prism in all directions over a range of

200 gon.

When the points to be monitored are easily accessible and when measuring intervals are long, the prisms may be mounted shortly before the measurement. As a consequence, they can be used for other projects during the interval.

In such case, only the ball base or the centring plates will remain at the object to be monitored. The base is protected against dirt and adverse weather conditions by a cover plate which is included with the product.

Note:

When using the prism on vibrating components (such as rail tracks, crane rails etc.), a base with a powerful magnet (4 or 20kg holding force) should be used in all cases, and the centring plate should be fixed by adhesive bonding.

Glass mini prisms manufactured with a high level of precision and mounted in a ball housing made of galvanised steel. Optionally supplied in a Ø 30mm or 1.5“ (38.1mm) version. 2 BALL BASE WITH PERMANENT MAGNET WITHOUT THREAD

This ball base made of hard anodised aluminium features an integrated permanent magnet and is suitable for very fast and reliable mounting on all magnetic surfaces. When you want to use ball prisms with M8 wall plugs, prism rods or similar devices, our ball bases

(Ø 33mm) with thread connection are the right choice. The distance between the ball centre and the bottom face of the base is 50mm ± 0.1mm for all bases.

4 CENTRING PLATES FOR BALL BASES

When the magnetic ball base is not intended for permanent mounting on the object or when the installation surface is not magnetic, we recommend the use of our galvanised steel centring plates.

We supply centring plates for screwing/ dowelling or adhesive bonding. Both models have central bores of Ø 8mm facilitating the exact centring of the plates above a marking

(crosshair etc.).

The ball base is securely attached to the plate, the sink receiving the base enables a centring accuracy of ± 0.2mm.

For mounting the centring plate for adhesive applications we recommend our mounting adhesive 13-MK or 5-minute epoxy resin.
