Data Sheet s Fire Safety Products Sinorix® Engineered Fire Suppression Systems Cylinder / Valve Assembly – 4”[10.2 cm.] Discharge Port (Includes: Cylinder-Mounting Strap / Bracket; Top-Plug Adapter, Liquid-Level Indicator & Low-Pressure Switch) Model CPY-900 ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER SPECIFICATIONS • For use with Sinorix 227 and Sinorix 1230 • High flow-rate valve • 4-inch (10.2 cm.), discharge-port valve assembly • Manual, electric or pressure operated • Liquid-level indicator • Dept. of Transportation (DOT) and Transport Canada (TC) Approved • UL 2166 Listed & ULC Listed; FM (#5600) Approved CPY-900 Product Overview Specifications Model CPY-900 shall be filled as follows: Model CPY-900 cylinder uses a 4”-inch (10.2 cm.) valve outlet designed for victaulic fittings and pipe only. These pressure-seated valves are designed for high-flow rates to meet the rapid discharge time specified in NFPA 2001. Model CPY-900 Cylinder Size 900 Lbs. 408 Kg. Max. Fill at 30 LB/FT3 Min. Fill at 70 LB/FT3 387 Lbs. 900 Lbs. 176 Kg. 408 Kg. Model CPY-900 can be filled with HFC-227ea suppression agent or with 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. Each cylinder is pressurized with nitrogen to 360 psig at 70°F (21.1°C), and is manufactured, tested and marked in accordance with DOT 4BA500 or 4BW500 specifications for the various sizes. Model CPY-900 is DOT and Transport Canada (TC) approved. Model CPY-900 is fitted with lifting lugs for convenience in handling, and the base is designed to distribute the weight across a floor area of a fully-charged cylinder. Model CPY-900 incorporates a similar design as the other cylinder valves, and utilizes 304 stainless steel rather than brass. The discharge outlet is fitted with an anti-recoil plug. The anti-coil plug is a safety device to prevent movement of the cylinder in the event of discharge – while the cylinder valve is neither connected to the piping system, nor is securely fastened to a solid structure. [Cylinder / Valve Assemblies – 4” Discharge Port] s Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division Sinorix® 6623 Specifications ─ (continued) Valve Controls The 4” (10.2 cm.) valve size accepts the same set of valve controls described below: Electronic Solenoid Valve The optional Electronic Solenoid Valve, which must be ordered separately, opens upon electric energy being applied – thus relieving the pressure above the valve piston and causing the cylinder valve to open. For electrical connections, the Electronic Solenoid Valve is furnished with 24" (61 cm.) pigtails. Local Manual Control Head The Local Manual Control Head (Model CPYLMC2) is installed on the Supervised Electronic Releasing Solenoid, Model CPYEC-2-24. When the safety pull pin is taken out, and the push button is manually triggered, it will cause a pin to depress and open the pilot check on the valve. Agent pressure is then released above the valve piston. Piston Actuator / Secondary Cylinder The Piston Actuator / Secondary Cylinder (Model CPY-PAS2) installs on the top-plug adapter. Model CPY-PAS2 contains a piston of sufficient area to provide the necessary force to open the pilot check – once pressure from the agent discharge of a primary cylinder is applied through 1/4" (0.64 cm.) tubing. Additionally, Model CPY-PAS2 is used on piston-operated secondary cylinders, which are released simultaneously with the primary Sinorix cylinder. One (1) primary cylinder can be used to pressure operate up to a maximum of seven (7) secondary cylinders. If more than seven (7) cylinders are required, the engineer may use two (2) electric primary Sinorix cylinders. All cylinder valves have a pressure-actuation outlet port. The piston-actuation outlet port opens into the same space as the valve outlet and is only under pressure while the valve is discharging. The port has a 1/8" (0.32 cm.) pipe thread, which is fitted with a pipe plug. s Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division The pipe plug is removed when the port is used. The tubing or pipe is connected to the outlet ‘M,’ and runs to the pressure actuators on the secondary cylinders. Electric Actuator & Manual Control Combination Cylinder Size 900 Lbs. 408 Kg. Valve Size 4" 10.2 cm. Quantity of Piston Actuators, Max. Copper Tube 7 50 Ft. 15.2 m. Cylinder and Valve Assembly Cylinder Mounting Straps & Brackets The steel straps and brackets are used to mount the cylinders in vertical position: The brackets, which can be used for wallmounting purposes, are secured to adjacent wall studs. Liquid Level Indicator The Liquid Level Indicator operates magnetically, so there is no need to move or disconnect cylinders. Uninterrupted hazard protection is a key feature of the liquid level indicator. Additionally, the liquid level indicator is factory installed. Low-Pressure Indicating Switch The Sinorix Low-Pressure Indicating Switch (Model CPY-PSS1) is a single-pole, single-throw switch that is mounted to the cylinder valve during production. Model CPY-PSS1 will remain in the (NC) position when no pressure is set against the switch. In Normal operating position, the LowPressure switch is set at 360 psig. When the cylinder valve is pressurized, Model CPY-PSS1 will move into the open position. Upon loss of pressure from the cylinder valve – due to discharge or leakage – Model CPY-PSS1 moves to a closed position at 291psig. Model CPY-PSS1 is monitored by a Supervisory point on the fire-alarm control panel (FACP). The FACP provides a Supervisory alarm upon loss of pressure below the PSIG set point.
