There are six regional panels in operation, each covering a defined area within the State. The two Sydney metropolitan regions align with the subregional boundaries within the Department of Planning and
Infrastructure’s Metropolitan Plan for Sydney 2036 . The other four regions align with the department’s established regional planning boundaries.

The City of Sydney LGA is not included within a regional panel region. The Central Sydney Planning Committee
(CSPC) has the responsibility to determine major development as defined in the City of Sydney Act 1988
(CoS Act), and also has a role in plan making and the preparation of planning controls.
The CSPC was established under the CoS Act and it’s members include the Lord Mayor, two councillors and government appointed members who are required to have expertise in at least one of the areas specified in the CoS Act.
