ISO 14726-2 specified additional colors, which can be used together along with the main color to further identify the specific material flowing through the piping system. WHY MARK PIPES? ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ To eliminate error in pipe identification To eliminate accidents and injury due to ignorance of dangerous pipe content in the event of emergency conditions. Help reduce accidents and damage to machinery by informing people of substances that flow through piping systems onboard. A more efficient maintenance plan by taking the guesswork out of pipe content. Compliance to IMO Standards A properly marked piping system will signal to marine inspectors that the boats owners and crew have taken the steps to be organized and safe. INSTALLATION: The marking shall be positioned so that the color stripes are perpendicular to the axis of the pipe. Pipelines shall be marked as follows: ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ Each pipe should be marked at least once in each separate room. Close to objects like valves, filters or tanks. Pipelines at each penetration point in bulkheads, walls, decks and ceilings Pipelines close to door entrances. Mark pipes every 3-5 m on long pipe runs. PRODUCT THAT MEET ISO SPECIFICATIONS As a leader in the pipe marking field around the world, you can be assured that all pipe marker systems shown on pages 4-20 meet or exceed the International Standards Organization 14726-1 / 14726-2 Standards 100%. 3 14 7 26 • Provides full main color identification per ISO 14726-1. • Ultra Permanent material holds up in marine environments for years. • All tapes laminated with rugged clear polyester to provide durability and longevity. • Full 30m rolls. • Liner mounted tape for quick, neat application. • Available in 25mm, 50,mm & 100mm widths. • To order specify stock number followed by desired width. IMO signs inform about escape routes, identify emergency equipment and signal hazards. For a sign to be IMO compliant it must conform to all of the regulations set forth . • Provides standardization of signs and resulting improved safety • Requires that signs that identify survival craft be easily seen under emergency lighting situations (photoluminescent) • Signs must use symbols in accordance with IMO recommendations. • SOLAS 9.2.3 requires signs be provided on or near survival craft and that their launching controls shall illustrate the purpose of the controls and procedure for operating the appliance-along with relevant warnings. IMO signs must also be used to identify emergency equipment or its storage area as well as identify Muster Stations and provide directions to the same. • Standardization of signs as provided by the regulations of IMO & SOLAS lead to less confusion during an emergency.
