ADMISSIONS GUIDE
Dear Future Man of Morehouse:
Congratulations on your acceptance to Morehouse College! You have just successfully
completed a monumental objective in the process of making one of the most important
decisions in your life: where you will attend college. We hope that you will decide to make
Morehouse College your choice for this next stage of your educational pursuits.
For more than 145 years, Morehouse College has been and continues to be a shining example of excellence in its ability to educate men and produce global leaders. Our legacy
is of developing men who have helped transform society and the world. We take pride in
our long-standing tradition of producing men of high academic preparation, strong moral
character and transformational leadership ability.
As you consider your college choices, one very important question you should ask yourself is what are the outcomes and opportunities that exist for me upon completion of my
degree. Morehouse has a network of more than 12,000 alumni. We have produced some
of the nation’s top physicians and Wall Street executives, as well as a Nobel Peace Prize
winner who now has his likeness on the mall in Washington, D.C. The College is also one of
only two historically black colleges and universities to produce three Rhodes scholars. Our
graduates continue their education at some of the top graduate and professional schools
in the nation, such as Harvard, Yale, Duke and Stanford. Others enter the workforce at
many of the world’s leading employers, such as Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Google and Goldman Sachs.
We hope that you and your family will take the opportunity to tour Morehouse so that you
can fully engage the campus community, personally experience the brotherhood, and see
what being a student at Morehouse is all about. We are confident that Morehouse College
will exceed your expectations.
We want you to attend Morehouse because we know that it will change your life and give
you an experience that you cannot get at any other college in the world. We want you to
become a man of Morehouse!
Please visit our website at www.morehouse.edu or contact the Office of Admissions at
(404) 215-2632 to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can.
I look forward to welcoming you to Morehouse College!
Sincerely,

HOUSING APPLICATION
OFFICE OF
FINANCIAL AID
Applying for housing at Morehouse College is a simple process. The following
steps will ensure that you get the most out of TigerDEN, which is designed to
give you the most freedom in selecting a Learning Community and a roommate. Please follow the instructions closely.
Director of FInancial Aid
HOW TO SELECT A LEARNING COMMUNITY
Morehouse College Learning Communities are aligned with the College’s
mission to create an environment where men of Morehouse are expected to
master a designated set of skills and competencies related to what they learn
inside the classroom. These are entire residence houses where students
request to live near others who share a particular interest in academics, social
and cultural issues and/or activities. These communities help students create
a strong link between their lives in the residence hall and learning experiences in the classroom, and provide an environment that is conducive to building
a strong, cohesive peer support system that will serve them throughout their
academic and professional careers.
Monday-Friday
9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Residents have access to special resources, programs and activities—such as
freshman orientation, seminars, lectures, service learning, tutors, mentoring
programs and much more. Incoming students have the opportunity to become
a member of a Learning Community by researching and selecting top four
choices before completing the application.

If you wish to participate in athletics during your freshman year at Morehouse College,
follow the steps below to ensure your eligibility:
1.
While in high school, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center online at www.eligibilitycen
ter.org and pay a $75 fee. You will be given a 10-digit NCAA ID number, which you should forward as soon as possible to:
Milton L. Roy III
Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Internal Ops
Morehouse College
830 Westview Drive S.W.
Atlanta, GA 30314-3773
You also will need to indicate which sport(s) you wish to participate in.
2.
Make sure that ALL previous high schools you attended send transcripts to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
3.
Submit standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) to the NCAA Eligibility Center using the four-digit Morehouse College institution code 9999.
4.
After graduation from high school, send a final transcript with proof of graduation to the
NCAA Eligibility Center.
After all information has been received by the Eligibility Center, the NCAA will determine initial
eligibility.
If you would like to participate in fall sports such as football and cross country, this eligibility
process must be completed during the summer before you enter Morehouse College at the latest,
and it must be done with the assistance of your high school.
Morehouse can check to see if the required forms have been received by the Eligibility Center, but
the high school registrar and the standardized test company (College Board) must send the information on your behalf to the Eligibility Center. Morehouse does not have control of this process.
If you do not register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, you will not be able to participate in any
official NCAA athletic activity or receive any athletic-related financial aid at Morehouse.
Please contact Milton L. Roy III at Milton.Roy@morehouse.edu with any questions relating to the

Student Health Insurance
Morehouse College requires all degree-seeking students to have health insurance or purchase the College sponsored plan. All students are charged for the college-sponsored
plan up front, however you may elect to waive or opt out of this plan.
In order to “opt out of enrollment” in the college sponsored plan, students and families
must provide evidence of current enrollment in a health insurance plan licensed to do
business in the United States, with a claims payment office with a U.S. phone number
and offers an Annual Maximum comparable to the student health insurance offered by the
college.
This coverage includes medical and mental health care, within the Atlanta area, that extends beyond emergency-only coverage and covers pre-existing conditions as well as prescription drugs.
If you do not wish to purchase the college sponsored plan, you must opt out or waive the
plan by the deadline of July 30, for fall enrollment and December 20 for spring enrollment.
If your request to waive or opt out is declined, you will receive notification through the
email address you used to complete the waiver along with instructions to appeal by printing the “Appeal/Insurance Verification” form and submitting this to your insurance carrier.
Failure to opt out or waive the college sponsored student health insurance plan will result in this fee being added to the student’s account. If you wish to enroll in the college-sponsored plan, do nothing; the fees will be added to your account!

Morehouse operates under the semester system offering the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. The College offers 26
majors in three academic divisions: Humanities and Social Sciences,
Science and Mathematics, and Business Administration and Economics, and a dual-degree program in engineering with the Georgia
Institute of Technology.
MISSION
The mission of Morehouse College is to develop men with disciplined
minds who will lead lives of leadership and service. A private historically black liberal arts college for men, Morehouse realizes this
mission by emphasizing the intellectual and character development
of its students. In addition, the College assumes special responsibility for teaching the history and culture of black people.

of higher education in the Graduate School of Education and an executive dean at The George Washington University. He also spent 16
years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he served
as director of foundation relations and assistant provost.

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award baccalaureate degrees. Morehouse is one of four historically black colleges and universities, and one of four undergraduate institutions in
