TASK 1 (Individual Presentation) The Individual Presentation should show evidence of research from the candidates. Candidates are permitted to use brief notes (no more than 30 words in bullet point form), and these 30 words can contain Welsh and/or English words. Any bullet points used must be sent to the moderator with the sample. The task should last for about 2 – 5 minutes. Each candidate must be recorded for moderation purposes. TASK 2 (Situation Conversation and Writing) Situation Conversation Teachers should provide the candidates with the Situation Conversation and Writing tasks four weeks prior to the test. Candidates are permitted to use brief notes in the Situation Conversation task (no more than 30 words in bullet form), and these 30 words can contain Welsh and/or English words. Any bullet points used must be sent to the moderator with the sample. The task should last for about 4 – 7 minutes. Each candidate must be recorded for moderation purposes. Writing During the written task, candidates are permitted to use dictionaries or suitable material e.g. bullet points containing statistics, facts, examples and quotes. (No more than 40 words.) Candidates may use IT to complete the written work, however, teachers must ensure that they don’t have access to spell checker. 1 hour is allowed to complete the written task. Length of task: between 100 – 250 words. Candidates are strictly prohibited from re-drafting or re-writing the task. This will then automatically identify the sample candidates and will enable the sampling process and the upload of marks to be completed in a single electronic transaction. The sample for Task 1 and Task 2 should be sent to the same moderator by 5 May, 2016 at the latest. Teachers should ensure that the sample tests are on one CD and contain individual tracks. The CD should be labelled with the centre’s name and number, and also the candidates’ names and numbers.
