Unit-IV : Writing
i. An Article (within 80 words) based on visual or verbal cue(s) [5 marks]
ii. A Diary article (within 80 words) based on visual or verbal cue(s) [5 marks]
Unit-V : Grammar
The Grammar syllabus includes following areas:
Articles, Tense, Modals, Use of voice, Subject–verb agreement, Narration and
Preposition.
The above topics will be tested through the test types given below:
i. Gaps filling with one or two word(s) to test Preposition, Articles and Tense [4 marks]
ii. Editing [4 marks]
iii. Rearranging of jumbled words into meaningful sentences [4 marks]
iv. Transformation of Sentences in the context (Degree change of Adjectives, Assertive
to Interrogative and vice-versa) [4 marks]
v. Changing the mode of Narration. [4 marks]

Unit-VI : Comprehension
This unit contains two passages - one is from the text and the other is Open Text Based
(OTB). The arrangements are as follows:
i) A Factual passage in about 200 - 250 words with five Multiple choice questions and
two questions on Gaps filling with one or two word(s), two Objective type questions
and one question on Vocabulary. [10 marks]
ii) Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA): There will be two Short answer type (SA-II)
questions carrying 5 (five) marks each from a passage in about 250 words to test the
analytical and critical thinking skill. [10 marks]
UNIT – VII : Project and ASL
A project work on Biography of an eminent literary personality/on a School Event/on an
Adventure or on a Story writing (400 to 450 words) and Internal Assessment on listening,
reading and speaking related to the project done by the students. [14 marks for project and 6
marks for ASL].
Note : Any kind of Exercise Books may be used for Project Works. The Exercise Books must be
written by the students in her/his own hand-writings. Computerised, downloaded, typed,
photocopies etc. are not permitted. In case of diagrams/sketches/pictures, downloaded,
photocopies, paper-cuttings may be used.
