d.STACKING: Supplements must be brick stacked
in convenient lifts (6” – 12”) well jogged with no
turns. Supplements should be stacked so that most
folded edges are turned toward the center of the skid.
Cardboard tie sheets must be used between each tier
and on top to prevent distortion. Supplements must
be recessed a minimum of 1/2” from the skid edge (all
sides) to prevent crimping. DO NOT tie supplements
together in bundles. Skids must not exceed 5 - 1/2 feet
in height, must contain the same number of copies
(except for the last), and must contain a skid tag
indicating product and number of copies.
e.DELIVERY: Must be in plant seven days prior to
run date. A proper bill of lading must accompany
all shipments and should indicate (1) Advertiser, (2)
Number of skids and (3) Number of copies. Supplements
must be shipped prepaid to:

Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Bonus Days have Sunday circulation
distribution. Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day require full run preprint quantities
as defined by the entire Advocate distribution area including: Baton Rouge Metro,
New Orleans Metro, Acadiana Metro and required community/Sunday Select zones.
Black Friday and all Sundays between Thanksgiving and Christmas: Full zone runs
only (by metro market) with required community/Sunday Select zones. No additional
zone breakouts.
2. Full Run Preprint Frequency Discounts
Advertisers with annual preprint contracts will earn these
discounts for preprints:

3. Preprint Packaging Requirements
a. SUPPLEMENT SIZE: Preprinted supplements must be
at least 5” x 7” and not larger than 101⁄2” x 12”.
b. PAPER WEIGHT: Minimum 30 lb. stock - Tabloid
Minimum 60 lb. stock - Single Sheet
c.SKIDS: Skids must be solid base with solid runners.
Skid top should be wood and must conform in size to
skid base. Deck must be covered in cardboard before
loading to prevent curling. Shrink-wrapped skids must
have protective corners to prevent crimping.
Preprint distribution minimums: 15,000 daily; 25,000 Sunday.
ZONED PREPRINT SPECIFICATIONS
a. Zip Code distribution is available in the Baton Rouge
area in the following parishes: East Baton Rouge,
West Baton Rouge, Ascension and Livingston and is
available in the New Orleans area in all parishes.
b. A charge of $250 is incurred for cancellation within 10
days of run date.

5. Sunday Select/Community Editions
The weekly subscriber/non-subscriber community editions distributed in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area include feature stories,
recipes, popular columnists, photos and hyperlocal content published in The Advocate or The New Orleans Advocate. These publications
are distributed by adult private carriers to select zip codes in the areas listed in the table below. ROP ads are also available in all
Community Editions.
A separate rate card outlining rates, general provisions and conditions for publication for each community edition is available upon
request. Please contact your multimedia sales consultant for the latest weekly distribution. NOTE: Community Edition preprints in the

Controversial advertising or advertising that presents a
statement of position on political, social or other issues is
considered the same as political advertising. If the ad lists
the names of persons supporting a position or candidate, the
advertiser must submit evidence of consent (a release) for the
use of supporting names.

C. Electronic Preparation
18. Terms & Conditions
The Advocate is offset printed from electronic paginated pages
using 110 line screen. All digital photos should be a minimum of
220 dpi and no greater than 300 dpi and cropped to actual run
size. Quality of supplied artwork, electronic ads and photos do
significantly impact the quality of the printed product.
The Advocate Creative Services uses Macintosh Format
Equipment.
a.
Purchaser agrees to furnish all copy, art and other
components necessary for production of advertisement
prior to the times established by the publisher as deadlines.
b.
The publisher assumes no responsibility for the omission
of any advertisement, or for any errors above the value of
the actual space occupied by such error in advertisements
submitted after published deadlines. Credit will not be given
for such errors. The publisher reserves the right to edit,
alter or omit any advertisement.
c.
Special or specified position cannot be guaranteed.
d.
Should the minimum space contracted for not be used
within the contract period, the advertiser agrees to pay the
difference between the inch rate contracted for and the rate
for actual inches used.
e.
Preprint coverage areas will be matched as closely as
possible to advertiser request based on zoning capability.
The Advocate is not responsible for adjustments in coverage
not requested by the client through an insertion order, and
will not review any variances past 180 days.
f.
Community newspapers are distributed in select zip codes/
zones and may require both subscriber and non-subscriber
coverage for inclusion in those zip codes/zones.
g.
The advertiser agrees to indemnify the publisher against
any and all liabilities and expenses, including payment of
judgments and attorney’s fees and costs, arising from any
and all claims involving the contents of any advertisements
published.
h.
The advertiser agrees to assume sole responsibility for
statements contained in his copy and to protect Capital
City Press LLC against any and all liability, loss or expense
arising out of claims of libel, unfair trade practices, unfair
competition, infringement of trademarks, names of patents,
copyrights and all violations of the right of privacy resulting
from publication of the advertiser’s copy.
When submitting a press-ready ad requiring no extra work on or
before deadline, it must meet all of the following criteria.

PDF ads can be uploaded at aduploads.theadvocate.com
or sent to us by e-mail at csv@theadvocate.com.
All PDF files must be created using Acrobat Distiller 7 or
greater and either “Press Optimized” or Creative Services
approved job options. All fonts in the PDF should be
embedded.
PC/Windows ads should be sent as Acrobat PDF files.
All disks must be labeled with the account’s name,
publication date and return address.
Acceptable Mac applications in order of preference:
Acrobat • In Design • Quark Xpress • Illustrator • Photoshop
Non-PDF submissions must include all files necessary to
process the job including screen and printer Postscript Type
1 fonts, all EPS and TIFF files.
All color print ads should use appropriate CMYK values
No RGB, Lab, Pantone or other spot color methods
accepted.
The press screen line ruling is 110.
All associated pictures should be no lower than 220 dpi and
no greater than 300 dpi.
TrueType fonts are strongly discouraged as we cannot
guarantee output. Type 1 font substitutions may be made
when available and with the client’s approval.
The Advocate cannot be responsible for improperly prepared
submissions.
