So the book tells us to meditate first thing in the morning. Let's
look at the sentence beginning with, "Before we begin, we ask
God to direct our thinking..." Please notice these words, they are
VERY important. "Before we begin..." - Before we begin what?
Before we begin considering our plans for THIS day, and before
listening to our Inner Voice. How do we know we're supposed to
listen to God? Because, right afterward, it says we ask God to
direct our thinking. If we ask God to direct our thinking, especially
asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonesty or self-seeking
motives, doesn't it stand to reason that our next thoughts are
possibly going to be from our Higher Power? What do we call
these thoughts from God? We call these thoughts guidance.

DISTRICT NEWS
Meeting Update:
Lubec - Thursday Big Book 7pm Meeting is closing down for the
winter and hopes to resume at the start of April. It is not financially
viable to keep it open during the winter months since we hold it at
a Medical Center that has a custodian stay to clean up and shut
down after our meetings. We need to be self-supporting.

District 16
We had a good meeting, 7 folks came, wish more people has
showed up. No secretary or treasurer report. GSRs reported on
the doings at their meetings. Bridging the Gap is quiet, nobody
showed up for the monthly PARC commitment. Betsey and Linda
will make a list for folks who wish to help with the PARC meeting.
Don’t be bashful folks. Elections were held: Josh F is DCM, Linda
is Secretary and Tami will be our Keeper of the Funds. Thanks to
each one for your time and service work. Our Alternate Secretary
Michael C is moving away – thanks for your help Michael. Thanks
to the outgoing team. A couple of anniversaries we missed
reporting last month: Neal P had 36 years (he’s getting old); Barry
had 30 years, Drew had 23 years, John had 19 years, Betsey and
Sammy had 9 years.

District 21
District 21 Chairman Peter B. was elected to a two-year term at
the district’s monthly meeting on Oct. 12 in Penobscot. Peter has
served in the position since April, when previous chairman, Dan
McCall, stepped down. This will be his first full term. Ryan K.
was elected the district’s new treasurer with Dave W. stepping
down after three-year’s service. Sally M. was elected to a twoyear term as secretary, a position she filled in January. This will
be her first full term. Chairman Peter B. also made Committee
chairman appointments, and the committee approved them all.
They are: Bridging the Gap, Hamilton C.; PI/CPC, Joe A. will
continue; Chip Master, Gerry K. will continue assisted by Ryan K.;
Archives, Allen S. continues; Guidelines, Bill L. continues; Special
Needs, Gerry K. continues assisted by Ryan K. Intergroup and
Literature are without officers, and the district needs an alternate
chairman, with Bill L. stepping down.
District members discussed the problem of too many meetings
not fulfilling group status (not enough members assuming group
responsibilities). The group discussed ways to increase the
understanding of the difference between meetings and groups
among AA membership. No conclusions were drawn, but the
group agreed further work is needed at future meetings.

Special thanks to District 3 for hosting the Fall Assembly this year.
The menu was wonderful and the pies, yummy.
I went to
Website Committee meeting and we participants approached the
Website as users instead of the past sessions of guidelines for the
Area 28 Workbook, voting rights, etc. We reviewed the challenges
users have with logging on to the website and what to do once we
are there. Here is a great and exciting piece of news: the Area 28
website can host webpages for each District. This will let us at
the District level report what is going on in our District, upcoming
events, anniversaries, seasonal opening and closing of meetings.
And we don’t need to know any fancy computer programming
language, just good old ‘word’. This means we can fall under the
watchful and helpful eye of Area 28 webmaster Jerome to make
sure our District webpages conform to anonymity, good taste, and
be up to date.

Webmaster Jerome B offers these tips to access the Area
website: There is private area intended exclusively for members
of Alcoholics Anonymous. The private area titled Area Business,
is only available to subscribers that have logged in, and includes
AA Confidential documents normally available at area standing
committee meetings and assemblies:. Meeting Agendas, Minutes,
Financial Reports. To obtain access, Area 28 AA asks only that
you request an account on the site and declare that you will honor
the confidential nature of these documents by sharing them, only,
with other members of Alcoholics Anonymous. That also means
you promise not leave them behind after a meeting and that if you
give copies to another member that you remind them that they are
AA Confidential documents. There are two links under the AA
Members heading on http://wp.area28aa.org titled 'Register' and
'Log In'. On a desktop browser these are at the top of the left side
tool bar. On a mobile device you will find them immediately
following the page content. Please complete the Registration form
and read the Privacy Policy. I will try to get all account requests
activated within 48 hours. Once your account is activated you will
receive an email from my personal gmail account welcoming you.
At this time you may return to the site and click on the Login link
to enter your username and password. If you are interested in
participating in the Area 28 Website Standing Committee, please
let me or the Committee Chair, Peter L., know. We meet at all
Area Committee Meetings and Assemblies as well as online via
Google
Groups.
