Each week there are several tasks assigned; simply click on the task to begin working. Each week has about 4 tasks assigned Each task takes no longer than approximately 25 min The checklist totals 20 weeks in length 2 As tasks are completed, a green check mark will appear next to the task and the task completion bar will change at the top to notify what percent of the checklist has been completed. *By following the checklist, all evaluations, lessons/quizzes, and the different sections of the full-length timed tests will be covered *The 20 weeks is a suggested timeline for preparation – the checklist can be completed in less than or more than the 20 weeks depending on time allotted for preparation prior to taking official test 3 Student Dashboard The student dashboard consists of 2 components: 1. the prep work on the left side of the screen which consists of the lesson plans and practice questions; and 2. the results and feedback on performance at the top of the screen Results and feedback Prep work Scores By Concept Scores by Concept will show number of questions answered correctly out of total number of questions attempted in the different subjects. From here, students can even see a breakdown by concept for each subject. To see a breakdown by concept, select subject title. 4 Smart Idea: Click on the black arrows to sort the columns. By sorting weakest to strongest, one can easily identify which lessons to review or quizzes to retake. Students can see how many questions answered correctly by concept. Test Scores Test Scores tab will show results from evaluation tests and full-length timed tests Results are shown with number of questions answered correctly along with score received on the subject. 5 Quiz Scores Quiz Scores section will show results from the various quizzes taken by the student, to include quizzes associated with the lesson plans and quizzes assigned Click on subject name to see results by concept. Cumulative scores show how many questions answered correctly out of the number attempted related to that subject. Smart Idea: Click on the black arrows to sort the columns. By sorting weakest to strongest, one can easily identify which lessons to review or quizzes to retake. Here is how a student can determine which concept(s) has not been mastered and needs to be reviewed. By comparing a student’s percentage against the “MTP Norm” a student can see how they compare to the average user. 6 Practice Scores Practice Scores section will show results from the practice questions answered from the different subjects Click on subject title to see a breakdown by concept The cumulative results will show number of questions answered correctly out of the number of total questions attempted from the practice questions over time. Here a student can see how well he/she is doing on a particular concept or type of question. 7 Words Mastered and Words Missed List Words Mastered and Words Missed List will show what words students have answered correctly at least 2 times and which words have not been answered correctly By placing the cursor over the word, one can see the definition of the word and the word used in a sentence. 8 Study Resources The Study Resources section hosts a number of “cram packets” for students to use as review prior to taking the SAT or ACT. These various documents can be printed for review; just select a document name to see the packet. *These documents should be used as a review guide just prior to testing; these should not be used in lieu of the online preparation work 9 Evaluation Tests Evaluation Tests consist of about 15 questions which cover a range of concepts seen in a particular subject of the SAT/ACT; the results at the end will show how many questions were correct as well as the approximate score a student would receive on that section if he/she were to take the official test Second, click on Start Test First, click on Evaluation Tests Evaluation tests are timed, simulating the amount of time students would get on a given subject for so many questions. Students can opt to skip a question; he/she will be able to return to those questions at the end. 10 After attempting all questions, a student will be prompted to return to skipped questions At end of evaluation How many questions correct Approximate score would get on this subject if had taken the test View Results will show every question along with explanation of correct answer o If need to stop in middle of task, this evaluation can be returned to at a later time; student can choose to start evaluation over or continue where left off 11 Lessons Lessons/Quizzes consist of the various lessons related to the concepts which will appear in each subject of the test; each lesson will give a brief explanation of the concept followed by example questions and a short quiz First, click on Lessons/Quizzes then choose subject to see lessons Click on lesson title to begin 12 Explanation – a student can either read or listen to a lesson Sample questions Quiz at end will test if concept is understood 13 Each question will be timed so student will know how long he/she has spent working on a question; the timer will turn red when the student has exceeded the time allotted to answer the question – this is to help with pacing. After each question, immediate feedback is provided Explanation of answer can be reviewed in one of three ways: 1. video; 2. audio; and 3. written *Remember: the questions are meant to be difficult. Students need to understand that questions will be answered incorrectly; the important thing is to read, listen to, and watch the explanations so students do not keep making the same mistakes. 14 At the end of the quiz, a score will be provided View Results will show every question along with explanation of correct answer 15 Vocab Builder The Vocabulary Builder presents students with a continuous stream of words in which students must select the correct definition. As students work through the vocab quiz, words will either be entered into the words mastered or words missed lists – to get in the words mastered list, a student must select the correct definition for a word at least twice; when a word is missed the first time, it automatically appears in the words missed list. A word is presented and the student must identify the correct definition 16 Students can select go to next question to continue with the vocab quiz or view words mastered words/words missed list to review After each word, the student is provided with feedback. If he/she chose incorrect definition, the correct definition for the word would be provided. Click on the printer icon to print list of words mastered and words missed Words will only begin to appear in the words mastered list after the student has chosen the correct definition at least twice. By mousing over a word, a student can see the definition of the word and the word used in a sentence. 17 This is the list that can be printed when select print icon; the words along with definitions will print. *Printing the vocab list is a great way for students to review their vocab while on the go If students just want to review words and definitions without quizzing themselves, they can go to the vocabulary list. 18 Quiz on Demand Students can create quizzes for themselves to review a specific concept(s) To create a quiz select Lessons/Quizzes then Quiz on Demand. Choose the subject 19 Choose the question type Choose the concept(s) NOTE: multiple concepts can be selected by holding down the “CTRL” button and selecting the concepts Last - type in the number of questions wanted on the quiz By hitting the submit button, the quiz will automatically begin After each question, the student will receive immediate feedback and explanations for correct answer 20 Full-Length Timed Tests There are two full-length timed tests in both the SAT and ACT prep program. The timed tests will simulate the amount of questions and time a student will have to complete the various subjects. Students can choose to complete all subjects in one sitting or complete at different times. To access the full-length test, place the cursor over Full Length Exams then select test #1 or #2 Click on Start Test next to the subject in which want to take 21 Test is timed allowing student the same amount of time in which he/she would receive on real test. Students are able to skip questions if do not know the answer; students will be prompted to return to skipped questions at end of section. After attempting all questions, students will be prompted to return to any skipped questions. 22 Students will be provided with feedback upon completion of the subject. Students can view their results from here or choose to retake the subject. If a student must stop in the middle of a section, he/she will be asked if they want to start test from beginning or resume from last question. Questions on full-length timed tests will not be found anywhere else in program 23
